Very well.  Salesman Brian was very informative and helpful.  The installation crew was friendly, efficient and very neat.  Moved all the furniture back into place at end of job.  Looks great!

I contacted Kevin Promen to come and give me a estimate for a new floor for my 600sq foot condo. Kevin gave me several options along with different price points for each. After I made my decision, Kevin scheduled the install less then a week later. Right on time Mike (the installer) and his crew arrived and began working quick, quite, and neat. Mike and his crew were fantastic. This was a 2 day job and they installed in one day. True craftsmen. This is my second time using Mill Direct and I have never had a issue. The price is good, and the install is professional.

Mill Direct crew was on time, professional to deal with, worked well as a team, did a good job on the floors, and cleaned up everything when they were done. They were helpful with fixing a threshhold that was not part of the job and made a special trip back to move our piano back into the living room. We were very pleased with the results. We had bought carpeting for our downstairs from them several years before and were pleased with that result too.

We used Mill Direct Flooring 3 years ago to put hardwood in the upstairs of our townhouse and they did an excellent job.  So, when we wanted some flooring replaced in our new home, I knew I would go back and get pricing from them.  Kevin Promen, both times was excellent to work with.  He answered all our questions, ordered a sample of the flooring from Shaw since they didn't have one in stock and came and came out to do the full measure.  The estimate they provided was very competitive.  The only reason we used a different vendor was because I was able to meet with their installer to figure out a solution to some tricky steps we had as part of the job.  I wholeheartedly recommend Mill Direct flooring.

They were very helpful and we thought their estimate was very reasonable compared to others we received (second to lowest), but we decided to use another highly-rated provider that carried the carpet that was our top choice.

The planning, flooring choice and coordination for both visits were professional and trouble free.  The installers were punctual, respectful and professional.  Currently cheduled carpet install for 2 July.  Some of the best service ever experienced for a very reasonable price.  Both times the work was quick...less than a day.

We visited the showroom several times and were patiently shown everything we wanted to see. The store personnel were unfailingly polite, knowledgeable, and helpful with suggestions. At  the completion of our first visit, they allowed us to take home as many sample books as we wanted (this turned out to be about nine) and never nagged us about returning them even though we kept them for several weeks trying to decide.
When we placed our order, they gave us a precise date and time for delivery and installation, and arrived right on time with a  very polite and efficient three-man crew who moved all the furniture and appliances around very carefully without damaging anything. The whole job was completed in about six hours, and before they left they restored both rooms to perfect order.  The flooring was beautifully installed, and we are quite happy with the entire experience. I would add, the price they charged was quite fair and reasonable, considering how labor-intensive the job was. We would unhesitatingly recommend Mill Direct.

I've contacted both the Mill Direct and Costco, since they were the company through which I was working. Resolution will be posted when it happens. This is just the first step. Right now, it appears as a "bait and switch". As soon as the company and/or Costco responds, l will post..

The salesman called this morning and was off-the-charts rude and inappropriate.  He was combative, angry, and loud.  He offered to deliver the flooring that was the sample he showed me but the cost was thousands of dollars more.  The resolution is that they will come and pick up the flooring and cancel the entire order.  I had also ordered carpet.  That is not reflected in the listed approximate cost of service.  However, I am cancelling that, too.  I would rather have nothing than do business with this company.

Bait and Switch - period, followed up with angry  inappropriate behavior.

I had purchased a house in Fairlington Village Jan 14 and needed some work done before I moved in.  Mill Direct was suggested by an acquaintence.  I had put out a bid for estimates, and they all hit around the same figure, but Kevin and his team from Mill Direct were flexible with my needs, provided an estimate on the spot and was professional and courteous.  At first, we only wanted the floors refinshed, since we were going to install the hardwood floors ourselves, but due to time constraints, we called Kevin and asked him to give us an estimate.  He installed the floors, which included the shoe moulding and threshold transistion.    Kevin contacted me the day before the installation to ensure everything was good to go.  I met Mike (the installer - phenomenal BTW) at the house; I was expecting him around 0800-0830 due to traffic and the weather had been really bad, but he was there before me, which saved me more time.  I showed Mike where the materials were and he told me that it would be done that afternoon.  Sure enough, 9 hours later, I had brand new BEAUTIFUL installed hardwood floors.  I forgot to mention that the hardwood floors were variable 5/16"-in that we had to special order.  We wanted to try and keep the floos all about the same height, but this type of flooring requires a different stapler/nail gun.  In addition, he also installed the shoe moulding in our basement (part of the original estimate) and stained it to match the tile perfectly. I called Kevin and let him know what a great job Mike had done.
The following week, the sanded and refinished the existing hardwood floors in the rest of the house.  I was figuring three days, they were done in two. On the first day, they had completey sanded and put the first of two coats of polyurathene on the floors. Kevin informed me the last day that the work was complete and that I could start walking on them the next day, which was great because I had started moving in two days later.  The floors look spectacular.
I suggest if you buy a house and want to get the floor redone, do it before you move in if you can spare the expense; it will save you the headache and hassle later on.  I would definitely recommend them!"

The only a minor item:  If you need to take time off from work for the install you need to stay on them to schedule.  I was suppose to be notified a head of delivery - didn't hear from anyone so I called them and the carpet had already arrived. Saturdays book early so be proactive regarding scheduling and tracking your order.

The job included removing existing ceramic tile flooring in the foyer and kitchen.  Kevin was quick to provide a job quote based on several different scenarios to pick from. The installer arrived as promised and did a great job removing the existing flooring and leaving it clean afterwards.  The 3 1/2 inch hardwood was installed in the living room, dining room, foyer, study, powder room, hall and  kitchen.  Carpet was installed in the four upper level bedrooms, sitting room, and main level family room.  Duraceramic flooring was installed in the laundry room and master bathroom.  The final installation looked fantastic.

I did business with the Mill Direct store at 7508 Richmond Highway south of Alexandria.
Mario and his crew came about 9:30. It turned out the floor was difficult todeal with because there was more than one layer of floor to remove. It became clear they knew what they were doing. They even found a piece missing from the base of a kitchen cabinet, offered to replace the piece, which they did. They were very tidy, efficient, and professional in their work.
Mike Wiley, the salesman, is great to work with. In setting up a time for them to come over to put the new floor in, he said that they shouldn't stert before 9AM, in consideration of the neighbors. This is something I normally remember, but he was ahead of me. When he came over before the installers did to get final measurements, I showed him carpet I had purchased from him some years ago. He looked at it and said that he thought it had a copuple more years in it. This would have been an opportunity to sell me more carpet, but this showed me he was more interested in customer service and doing business in the long term.. Mike has been in his business a good number of years. I think I can tell why.
If you need carpet or flooring, go see Mike Wiley at Mill Direct on the Richmond Highway in Alexandria 703-765-1900.
I don't at all mind plugging for him.

It was very bad workmanship.? I think they should have know better and not made many of the mistakes that they did.? They were very sloppy as far as the way they put in the floors.? They put a stair nose in crooked.? I didn't feel comfortable having them come out and fix the poor work.? They left black hand prints on my white walls as well as some other chips and marks on the walls.? I had to repaint and fix the issues with the walls.

We saw Mill Direct Floor Coverings on Angie's List and also heard great reviews from friends who purchased an area rug from Remnants from this same location.  We decided to give it a try and from the initial meeting with Chris, our experience was great.  We explained what we were looking for and Chris showed us several options.  We were looking for remnants, so the choices were limited, but we were able to decide on one in particular.  They were also able to get the carpet cut down for a custom size for us and have the binder bound the cut edge.  We picked it out on Monday and had it delivered to our house that very same Friday (after cutting and binding).  It was a easy and relaxing experience.  We would go back for our other flooring needs.

We contacted Mike at the Fairfax office and had fabulous service.  We needed the carpet in quickly as we were trying to move in, and the trouble we kept running into was that it would take weeks for other companies to order & receive the carpet prior to being able to install it.
When I talked to Mike, I told him our budget, and our time constraints. He showed me all the samples that would fit in our budget and they carried in stock so they could install quickly.  We found a lovely carpet, medium grade but decent and scheduled the installation.  The team kept in contact at all times, the guy coming to measure was there in a few hours from my initial consult, and the installation team performed beautifully. The carpet looks great!! We couldn't be happier.  We will use them again to install carpet in the house we need to sell when we get to that point without any hesitation at all.

The store we used was located on Richmond Hwy in Alexandria. On the installation day, they brought the wrong pad so I declined installation on that date. The correct pad came in a few days afterwards and the installation was rescheduled. They arrived on time and did a fine job installing and cleaning up the debris. I would use them again. Just be sure to check what is being installed before it is done. Please note that the pad brought at the initial installation date was actually a higher poundage than I ordered, but did not have the warranty as it was not made by the same manufacturer as the carpet and would not have the same warranty. So it was a choice I made.

Given that rug choices are simular across company choices, the decision
comes down to service, cost, response time, and knowledge
of the sales people.  Mike Mason was a big help to us with recommendations
how best to achieve our goals.  The pricing and product quality was very
competitive, and within a week of measuring, we had a new carpet installed,
a 5 hour job by a very able team of 3 installers.
