Merrifield Garden Center - Fair Oaks

I have no negatives with them. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for. They arrived in a timely fashion and did what they said they would do. One of the Azalea's in my front yard got sick and they replaced it. They were neat and courteous. We are satisfied. We would hire them again.

Total satisfaction, but pricey.

The designers did a fine job answering any questions we had and providing a design option. The backyard design was great but we ended up changing the design because we thought something else would work better. We got the design fee back because we purchased our plants from them, so it was essentially a free service. All the plants are of the highest quality but they are more expensive than other nurseries in the area. One Azalea died within the warranty period and they replaced it for no charge. We continue to buy all plants and flowers from Merrifield because they offer a great selection and are very helpful. Their plant clinic is excellent and provide me with useful advice as to lawn care, pests, etc.

Two died by the time moved out in 2008. If had not sold house would have filed small claim. No amount.

I felt it was well set up but the products were very expensive. They were of great quality but more than if you went to a regular store such as Home Depot to buy your flowers and mulch. I had a hard time finding and associate to help me.

We had a landscape architect design and needed someone to implement it. We did not want to do the entire yard at once and so we prioritized the projects. Most important was a repair of our front walk and step to the porch. We worked with Georgeanne Casey, she was great. She listened, was enthusiastic with her crew and had very good suggestions. One suggestion was that we go out to their Garden Center to choose our pavers for the walk because the books do not show the colors very true. That was a great suggestion because we picked out something entirely different when we could see them. The crew was prompt, friendly and very neat. They took on an extra project and completed that the next day. The walk is beautiful and the step is much more manageable.

I requested an estimate through Merrifield's website and Dave responded to me the next day. He came out the next week to give me an estimate for landscaping the front and back yards of my townhouse. He asked me about my goals and what I wanted for my yard. He clearly explained his ideas and drew out a rough sketch on the spot, which was helpful. He explained roughly what the estimate would be, as well as, what costs were fixed (labor) vs. variable (plants). The estimates were sent via mail and I decided to do the front yard only due to my budgetary constraints. We scheduled a date for work within 2 weeks. I met him at the Merrifield location to pick out plants. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. On the day of the project, he called to let me know he and his crew were there, and also followed up when they were done. My front yard looks great and I couldn't be happier.

They were wonderful. It was expensive, but they did a great quality job. I worked with Terri Mcginnis and loved her design and job. She was very professional and always on time. I may not have done the job if it weren't for her. My experience with her was very positive. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.

I contacted Merrifield in early March and the landscaper assigned to Alexandria kept promising to come out to my property to give me an estimate. I placed many calls and each time was told he would be out the following week. Eventually I received an estimate for work to start no later than May 29. Instead, work did not happen until the week of June 23. I do not believe the landscaper ever came out to my property to see the work after it had been done (he sent a crew to do the work). One plant was placed in an incorrect location. In addition, I reported that the ground cover had died a week after being planted. I was told that the plant would be moved and they would replace the ground cover. While the plant was moved to the correct side of the walkway, no work was done to prepare the area where it was replanted. In addition, the ground cover was not replaced. If they had told me at the beginning how long it would take to do the work, I would have gone elsewhere. Instead, they kept stringing me along. I believe bigger jobs came along and my project kept getting bumped.

It went very well. I went to them for the waterfall because I wanted it done right, and I had prior experience with Merrifield. They were finished in under a day, and they came exactly when they said they would. One plant did die and it took them a little while to come out to replace it, but they were very prompt in responding when I asked them to come to out and check the waterfall.

They did a spectacular job. They arrived on time to do the work. They were professional while they were working. I would use them in the future. They cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend them.

We contacted Merrifield in April wanting to have our yard landscaped by May 18 because of a family event on that date at our house. We worked with Georgeann Casey, who is a wonderful designer. She came to our house in the pouring rain to assess our standing water issue and gave us honest advice about what we did and, more importantly, did not need to make our yard look good. Though it must be the busiest season for landscaping, Merrifield came through on short notice (albeit with only one day to spare!) in spite of several washouts in late April/early May, and our front yard looked wonderful for our family event. On the back yard, a much more involved project, Georgeann and her crew took extra steps to make sure our back yard will stay dry the next time we get heavy rains. The crew was very professional and pleasant. They came when they said they were coming, worked hard all day, and cleaned up after themselves. Best of all, the job was completed under budget!

The job was professional. The plants were of good quality. It was easy. The team cleaned up any mess and took time to give me instructions. When I had a question about the soaker hoses, they came back out and traced all the lines to make sure it was all working properly at no charge. I was very pleased.

The nice thing about them is they stand beside their guarantee and their plants. We had a couple die on us and they are going to replace them free of charge. Integrity is something you just don't find any more.

I am not allowed to have grass in the backyard of my townhouse so they worked with me designing and drawing out a plan for the landscaping. They had no problem with my picking out smaller bushes to bring down costs. I will be using them for my front yard.

I really enjoyed working with them, so much that I plan to hire them again. I really like my garden, so I want to hire the best there is. I like this company because they are always there when I need them. They follow-up on their work.

They did a great job and also planted some flowers and shrubs at the same time. The whole project took 6 days and we have had no problems. After they were done, the manager sent the crew back to clean up. It cost more than other estimates but it was worth the price.

I was very happy with the consultant that I talked with. He seemed to understand what I wanted and was very knowledgeable. When the work was actually performed, it seemed like the workers were on a different page. The wrong type of azaleas where planted and a few where over looked. I had to call and complain. They came a fixed the problem. The azaleas they planted were not very healthy and a few of them did not make in a year. I have not had problems with plants that I have picked out myself. I think they outsource their work and do not supervise their workers. It was also a busy time of year so there was a few weeks between my consultation and when the work was performed.

The border was particularly evenly dug- It looks great. Tom selected good plants for this location, all but one variety are thriving. I appreciate Merrifield's plant warranty, and know that they'll return to replace the dying plant.

They sold me exactly what I wanted, the shrubs were well marked so I knew what I was buying. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and they are well stocked.

I asked the garden center what they would suggest as a top dressing for lawn areas. Orgro was suggested. I ordered the appropriate volume. They arrived on time and were very polite. They spred the material very unevenly, and the material was not completely decomposed resulting in burning the entire lawn and killing many small areas.
