We had Hambleton Lawn and Landscape provide weekly mowing and weeding service for two years. They did a fine job, I'd consider their service average to good, but the price kept going up for different reasons, and we eventually switched to another company. They initially quoted us $40/week to mow, plus $10/week to weed, which we agreed to. They then told us that they would charge $700 for a clean-up/mulching, and that the $10/week weeding could start after that, which was fine. About a year later, the price for weeding went up to an hourly rate, and they let us put a cap on the number of hours we were comfortable with, which meant that not all our beds were weeded each time and the cost was about twice the initial price. Then this month, wedding was cancelled and replaced with a "property maintenance" price structure - $30 per visit plus $40 per person per hour to weed. So for three techs to weed for one hour would be $150, which is out of our budget.

Hambletons provides regular care for my lawn. I can rely on them to keep my lawn looking good and they always clean up after leaving. I hired them last fall to do a fairly major bamboo removal project. Almost a third of my yard was bamboo and (as it does) it was creeping forward. The team took a backhoe to the yard to remove the bamboo from the root, removed a couple trees that had been rotting (2 of which were not originally planned for) and installed barriers on the side of the yard with a bamboo neighbor. I had a few shoots leftover and they came back out to remove them once I pointed them out. The crew was very professional. To get the backhoe into the yard, they removed and replaced my fence - no issues. They replaced the topsoil and seeded so I would have grass replace the bamboo. It worked awesome. While they were at it, I had them weed, mulch and take care of a rotting bush. The yard looked so much better. Bamboo is an evil beast if you don't know what you are doing with it. The previous owners of my house did not. Hambletons has helped me take care of a big problem and I've already contracted them for this summer to monitor and remove any shoots that creep back in. All my research has shown that it can be a multi year process and Hambletons will be my provider of choice!

It went very well. This is the second time we've used Hambleton's. Stephen came out and consulted with us on the design. We went back and forth a couple of times on plant suggestions via email and then were able to quickly finalize the proposal and work date.

I advised Joe Hambleton, Vice President of Hambleon Lawn and Landscape, why I would no longer need this service.
Here is a short breakdown of my disappointment:
1) The lawn did not need mowing during the first week of April; you must have collected, at most, a cupful of trimmings.
2) Starting the first week of May, the mowing was too short. I was horrified when I came home from school to find that on both
sides of the side walk the grass was cut down to the ground, exposing both the roots and earth. Needless to say, in subsequent weeks, the grass died.
3) For the next several weeks, I did notice that your men did pause once in a while before running the mower over the dying
grass. However, they continued to do so.
4) The machinery used on this property is too large; my neighbor described it as though you “were preparing for a NASCAR event” noting the speed at which the lawn was mowed.
During the next season, I will find a company that is more concerned about the condition of the lawn rather than collecting payments for services rendered that are either not necessary or detrimental to the health of the lawn.

I have worked with hambleton to get an estimation of work as part of a house buying process. They have been attentive to my needs and quite understanding of the fact that I needed an understanding of the cost without being able to perform a grounds inspection (I was the buyer at the time). They have reviewed my inspection report and tried to give me an understanding of worse case scenario based on acquired information.
Post house buying, I have use the company for an estimate and scheduling the work. The team was at the property at the right time and the work was performed as expected. Steve from Hambleton has been in touch with us through the planning process. This experience has been phenomenal for me as a customer and I would hearthly recommend them to everyone.
The only reason why I hesitated a bit on giving an A on quality is because I would have liked them to go one step ahead and understand that the scope of work needed some tweeking to address my problem completly. Instead I had to check out the work and give some indications in terms of additional things that should have been done which was my understanding as being in scope from the beginning. So, I think there should be another category on pro-activeness which would help me focus my rating in a better way.
FYI, I couldn't rate the price as I haven't got another estimate on this job (Hambleton built the trust with me, thus I prefered to go with someone that I knew would better fit my needs)

Hambleton Lawn and Landscape is very professional, charges reasonable prices and does excellent work. They use a very high quality hardwood mulch. I have used them for various yard projects for four years and I alway have been very pleased with the final result. I highly recommend this firm for your yard work.

They are excellent. They keep the lawn trimmed in shape. Even though we had a confusion with a bill, they were patient and terrific and very helpful as we work through it. We finally resolved it and they did a great work. You also don't have to have a contract with them because they charge you per service that they provide which I think is good and unusual.

"Thank you for your kind words. We are glad you had positive experience with the billing department. Thank you for your patience in that matter. We strive to provide great customer service and be as helpful as possible. We appreciate your feedback."

We use their services every summer. They just came in to mow the grass and trim it. They come in weekly. They are very good. Their pricing is fair. My yard is of medium sized. I would use their services again in the future if I need to.

It went superbly. The patio looks great. The slates are firm and won't stubb your toes. Best of all, we went through the millenial, 1,000 year rain storm this summer and the huge volume of water pouring onto the patio simply divided as planned/laid out in the plan and it flowed perfectly around the house or into the drain, and stayed away from the foundation perfectly. The humidity in the basement never went above 50% and not a single drop of water came in. A multiple person crew worked for the better part of a week and did it right and were no problem. They weren't cheap but they absolutely did exactly what they said they'd do and a bit more.

Excellent job done in a very professional and timely manner. Hambleton uses a generous amount of high quality double shredded hard wood mulch. The cleanup was top notch too. I would not hesitate to recommend this firm to anyone looking for a high quality landscaper.

Bob Hambleton, his son John and his crew are perhaps the most knowledgeable, most honest, and most professional contractors with whom I've had the pleasure to work. I found Hambleton's Lawn and Landscape when visiting a local stone yard's website and store during my research into what materials I'd like to use for my front stoop and walkway. I contacted Hambleton Lawn and Landscape for an estimate. Bob returned my call within 2 days and set up an appointment for the next day. Before talking to any contractor for an estimate for any kind of work, I'd do as much research as I can on the subject. I'd read about the various processes, materials, pros and cons, trade standards, applicable construction codes, etc. The goal is to have a passing understanding of what should be expected, be able to ask cogent questions, and hopefully be able to tell a good answer from an evasive or worse, an incorrect one. During the appointment and in subsequent emails, Bob described the work that would be done, answered all my technical questions in how the work would be done, and offered suggestions in areas I was still unsure about. One thing stood out from the whole exchange. Whereas other contractors would keep saying they could and would do the project in any way and with any materials I choose, Bob was more concerned with having a quality installation done the right way and was not shy in recommending one product over another, or in offering constructive criticism in what I was planning. I really appreciate that kind of caring for how the project would turn out long term. Furthermore, his company invests in training his people to be certified in paver installations according to trade standards. In the end, I decided to mortar flagstones and WV fieldstones to the existing stoop and steps, and install Techo-Bloc pavers for the walkway. Although his estimate was a little higher than others, I chose Hambleton's because I believed they'd meet my expectations for the project. They have done that and more. On the first day Bob introduced me to John (his son) and his crew. They took great care in fitting the fieldstones and flagstones to the concrete stoop, and took just as much care when I asked to re-arrange a few flagstones to break up a joint longer than I'd like. The walkway was installed 100% to standards promulgated by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). (A major reason other contractors I talked with did not measure up was because the installation process they described took short cuts away from ICPI standards. Of course, they didn't know I knew that.) The walkway was gorgeous when they got done. If that was the end of it I would've felt I got my money's worth. They came back the next day, however, and proceeded to take up some of the pavers. It turned out a sloped portion of the walkway where it meets the driveway was a little bit too steep, causing the larger pieces of pavers to stick up ever so slightly at the corners. I examined the walkway before and did not notice that. For them to have noticed it, and have enough pride in workmanship to come back of their own accord to redo that whole section, is simply amazing. They also decided to delay the polymer spray to the Spring, when the weather gets warmer again, because the chemical requires a higher minimum temperature -- another indication they emphasize proper installation over expediency. Hambleton's is that rare company that cares about your project as much as you do, and has the professional pride to see the job done right with outstanding results. I wish I could find such a company in all the work I need done. Definitely recommend without reservations. Not only does Hambleton's deserve your business, you deserve to find out what top-notch professionalism is all about.

We used them for many, many years and they switched over to their son-in-law recently. We like him and he also does a great job. They did everything they said they were going to do and more. They are supposed to come over tomorrow because we had a tree go over and they are going to take a look at it and give us an estimate. The workers are friendly and they are trustworthy. I think they could do a better job on the edging; that would be my only complaint. They are on time and come every week whenever they do the lawn. We couldn't ask for nicer fellows. There is always somebody we can talk to. We don't think they are the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

They are very good. I pay $41 a week. They mow the lawn and collect the clips because that is my requirement. They also leave the box for the garbage collector to take it on Wednesday and last year they did some landscaping for me. They can clean the weeds, do small job in the garden and planting, but I have never had them do planting for me. They are pretty good. Their company is not the least expensive, but they do a pretty good job. It is a family run company, so they are all teenagers and in their 20’s, so they all work. They call and explain how the work in going to be done, give you a price and let you make your decision. They do a good job, serious about the job and are very accommodating whenever I ask them to do something. Usually of the sons comes along with the crew and I like them.

They did a fantastic job, and they mostly stuck to both the price and schedule. They also cleaned up after themselves nicely. Hambleton's is no longer my lawn service, however, for one simple reason -- after the first year's contract, they sold my mowing contract to O'Grady's. Now, I have Hambleton's doing the lawn maintenance (fertiizing and weed control) and O'Grady's doing the mowing. My bed maintenance program (weeding) got lost in the shuffle, and I don't like have to deal with two companies for my lawn care, though the quality from both was very good.

We've been using him for years and years. He's like a man with a mower. They are wonderful. They come once a week. They do a really nice job. They mow from April to October. They are very reliable. They also do the edging and bag everything. We have a 1/3 of an acre. Their price has not gone up in two years. He tries to be really fair. They have also done leaf collection twice a year. They renew our contract every year. Their guys look very nice. They are in khakis and polo shirts. They are very professional and you can identify who is at your house. They are very punctual.

Bob Hambleton and his son, Stephen, were a joy to work with. They were always professional, on time, and courteous. I gave Bob my overall goals (replace wooden deck, remove all grass in front and side of house, and install a lit walkway around side) and he delivered an outstanding plan that met all my goals and then some. Due to budget we had to scale back some of the plan but hopefully we will implement his ideas in the future. Bob and Stephen were both very much hands on guys during the entire process.

I have used this company for a few years. I have only used them for lawn work, so I have no standard of comparison for pricing. The cost is based on a weekly service. They come the same day and time each week. If I wish for them not to mow on a particular week, I simply notify them of not wanting the service. One drawback is they do not always cut the grass to my satisfaction.
