My husband was using his weed wacker and saw that fuel line was broken. Turned off the engine and took it to Brandell's to be repaired on Sept 4, 2018. They told him they were running a little behind and it would take 2 weeks for them to repair it. He said fine and paid a $40 deposit. Called them four weeks later since he hadn't heard from them to ask what was going on. They told him that shortly after he dropped it off, they realized the repair would take 4 weeks. He asked them why they didn't call him as soon as they realized that, and they had no answer. They weren't apologetic. They said they would have it finished in a few days. He called today (October 4, 2018) to say he was going to pick it up, they said they had fixed the fuel line but that the carburetor was clogged and needed to be replaced. The weed wacker was starting fine when he dropped it off. So ended up paying $47 for them to break it. Good thing they don't care about his business because he's never going back.

I brought my lawnmower to Brandell's because the mower wouldn't stay started. I was able to use the mower 3-5 minutes, but the mower quit and it appeared it was flooded or was not getting gas. I contacted other mobile vendors who could not respond to Arlington, VA, so I took it to Brandell's- what a mistake! I got there early only to wait for a sloppy looking employee who arrived 5 minutes late. I explained the problem and that I thought there was a block in the fuel line. I picked up the mower and asked what was wrong with it- the same employee told me that they did a tune-up and sharpened the blade. I brought the mower home only to find that it stalled after a couple minutes. I brought it back to Brandell's who told me that it was running fine. I took it home and experienced the same problem- it wouldn't stay started. They charged me $100 to do a tune up, but that wasn't the problem!
Description of Work: Brought in mower to be serviced b/c it wouldn't stay started and all they did was do a TUNE UP! The problem continues.....

Very well.
Description of Work: Brandell's picked up my portable generator which had been malfunctioning, took it to their workshop, diagnosed the problem, made some adjustments (no actual mechanical/part replacement was necessary,) and returned it to me in good working order. I was very pleased by their efficiency, responsiveness, as well as their courtesy. In addition to prior positive repair experiences, I look forward to working with them again when needed.

Avoid these guys like the plague! Brandell's confirmed that they are an authorized service provider for Toro snow blowers (I now know that is NOT true). Brought my snow blower to Brandell's on November 15 for a recall. After two months of delays, they told me it was ready. When I picked up the snow blower, there was no oil in the crankcase -- instead it was full of gasoline -- and when gas was added it just poured out of the gas tank. So, after two months in the shop, my almost new snow blower was returned to me with no oil and no repairs completed. It is unclear how much damage was done running the engine with no oil, Toro is investigating, but I think I'll need to buy a new snow blower.
Description of Work: Warranty service for a gas leak recall on my Toro snow blower.

Overall, I am happy with the work completed, especially the quickness of the pick up and delivery. The mower is now running wonderfully. However total time from pick up to delivery was *five weeks*. And most of that was waiting for the new carb to arrive at the shop. While I expect mower repairs to take a few weeks, especially at the end of the summer, waiting weeks simply for parts is not something I'm used to. As this is the first time I've had Brandell's service a mower of mine, I don't know if this is normal for them or not, I suspect not. However, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and I will go back for further maintenance. But should the service take excessively long, I will be very disappointed. As it stands, I don't blame them for the delay, but I do not feel I can justify an 'A' rating at this time. I do expect my next visit will be better. Their prices appear to be in line with other NoVA shops, but again, I'm not completely familiar with other shops' prices, but this met my expectations. The quality of work appears to be absolutely dead on. I am giving an 'A' here, but understand that s I've only run the mower once since it was returned, but it did perform exactly at expected. The biggest disappointment I had with the shop was that they never contacted me about the delays. The only way I got information was to contact them and to ask what was going on. They would explain that the parts had not arrived and expected them a few days later. I would then wait a week before calling again giving, what I thought was, ample time to contact me with an update. Finally at the five-week mark, I went to the shop to inquire in person, and found that the unit was complete and had been for supposedly a few days. Again, I initiated contact that day. When I as in the shop asking they were unable to find my papers (yes, I was very concerned right then), but they were able to pull all information on their computer and confirmed that everything was ready to go. To their credit were able to deliver my beastie back to me the same day. Regarding their professionalism, other than wishing they would have contacted me once or twice during the parts wait just to say that there were no updates (at least then I know they are paying attention), I have no complaints. They were able to answer all questions and offer advice for what ever I asked. In addition I requested the original junked carburetor back at the start of the service and they said they would return it. After five weeks, I honestly expected to be told that they had thrown the old unit away. But they did have it waiting for me at the end of it all. I was very happy about that. I found all employees of the company happy and pleasant to deal with and that makes it much more enjoyable experience for me. As it stands, I don't feel the long wait was their fault and I will go back, but that next visit will probably determine if there will be any visits after that.
Description of Work: Riding mower wasn't starting, smelled gas on oil dipstick, oily smoke was coming from exhaust when trying to start. Brandell's determined that the carburetor was shot and allowed gas to constantly flow which then ended up in the oil sump. Work included pick up and delivery of riding mower, replace carburetor and give system good once over and general tune up.
