Have been at this for a while and charge remains on my account. I have 5 years to go on this car loan. Perish the Thought!
Description of Work: This is a Credit Union. I am a member. Tried to join years ago and after waiting 45 mins. in an branch on Rt 50 near Fairfax, I left. I should have not come back. I did join w my wife about a year ago and made the mistake of financing a new car with them. The loan application was rejected because her name appears on the joint account first and the first name on the loan application was mine. I was pressured to open a 2nd account w my name first in order to get the loan. I refused and they changed the order of names on the application. This is like Wells Fargo. Did not need 2 joint accounts. After receiving the car on Aug. 4 it was put on my insurance policy Aug 5. Received a letter from Apple Federal Credit Union asking for proof of insurance which my agent promptly provided. Nearly 3 months after my car was purchased I get a charge to my account of $314.68 for something they call "collateral protection insurance." I've had great coverage on that car since the moment I took delivery and Apple knows this yet they insist on charging for insurance I already have, retroactively, for a period when there was no damage, at 20 times the rate I pay on my cars for the coverage they allegedly provide. As I write, even though I have provided proof of coverage twice, the charge remains on my account.

Aaron Gagnon is an exceptional loan officer. You really need to get him. He works at the local headquarters for mortgage loan, which is in Fairfax, Virginia. He is above and beyond what any of the other top mortgage lenders in this area can provide. I also had other quotes, but Aaron was able to get us 0.25 to 1.5% below competitors. He also called 3 days before closing (last minute possible) to let us know that rates had just went down that day, and if we acted fast, we could break our previous lock for a 0.25% lower fixed-rate loan. I don't think any of the others we were talking to would have acted that fast. That change saved us around $5,000-$10,000. Total fee would have been $1,950, but we paid additional $1,250 to get the lower interest rate. Our final fixed rate was 3.875% on a large loan amount ($500,000). National low on the same date for a smaller loan amount $417,000 with 20% down and best credit scores was 3.875%. So we got the best possible rate even with a larger loan amount and only 10% down. Although we had very high credit scores. isWe were getting a new construction home, and builders wanted us to quickly provide a "firm intent to lend" letter. Aaron and Underwriting Department at Apple FCU worked with us and got us that letter in 2 weeks, 1 week after we submitted all documents. Wow! That is record speed and service. I really don't see how any for-profit mortgage lender can beat the non-profit Apple Credit Union. They also do auto loan and other types of personal loans. So check them out for best service and best fees. Also you know you are safe in their hands, and they will not try to screw you over. You can't say that about most large bank lending departments these days.
Aaron Gagnon was my loan coordinator and he was extremely helpful, prompt, courteous, professional, and generally really wonderful to have as a loan coordinator. How many others can say that about their mortgage lender? Apple FCU does not resell their mortgage in the secondary market, unlike Bank of America and almost all other large mortgage lenders. I received 0.25% to 0.50% lower interest rate than the lowest rate equivalent loan packages from 2 other large mortgage lenders in N. Virginia area. I did receive a quote with just 0.125% higher rate, but that involved taking out a 2nd loan with higher fees and not so easy to pay-off early, so was not a better deal as a package. We needed to get a firm commitment to lend letter from the underwriting department in a short time frame to satisfy our home builder. It took just 1 week to process the underwriting review. I was impressed how fast it was. Plus, the paperwork requirement was the least intrusive. Since Apple does not resell their mortgages, the underwriting department did not require us to fax them last 4 years of tax filings will All Original Attachments!!!, which the others required like robots and would not budge. Apple could tailor their need for our situation. Since almost all of our income came from our employment, they only asked for the W2's and HR contact phone numbers at work. This is like night and day! We did email a list of all of our bank accounts and IRS accounts, but that was it. Aaron was on top of the whole process (2.5 months) and called or emailed me every few days to let me know what was going on and advise me if we needed to do something to make the whole process go smoothly. At first, all we paid Apple was a $50 loan application fee, but we were treated like a VIP. Aaron diligently spent a lot of time with me and helped me pick the right Title Company and get the final Appraisal right. He gave me tips on inspection and what will be done by the County to inspect the new home. Even though he knew we were still shopping around for the best terms until we locked-in the loan, he did not seemed to mind at all that we may pick a different lender after all that work. I really, really recommend Aaron Gagnon and Apple FCU in Fairfax, Virginia. Mortgage is handled by headquarters in Virginia, and Aaron said the underwriting department is also in the same building. So he can go over there and apply plenty of pressure if there is any delay or problem with the loan during settlement. We're closing in 2 weeks, but I do not expect any trouble at settlement. He also said settlement will only take 30 minutes to 1 hour at most, which is much shorter than what I've read online. Apple also provides auto loans. Check them out if you are looking for a loan in Northern Virginia area!

I cashed a third party check in the drive thru.
Description of Work: AFCU is a great credit union. We have been members since 1995. The tellers are always knowledgeable and congenial. AFCU has saving, and checking accounts, auto loans, mortgages, CDs and interest rates are comparable to any bank. Many of the services provided by AFCU are all that a person needs to manage finances.

The staff at Apple worked quickly and efficiently to get us to settlement by our deadline. We began the mortgage application on-line and were contacted by a representative within a day. The team assigned to us was always responsive via phone and email. Voice mail messages were answered within a couple of hours as were emails. They kept us apprised of what steps needed to take place next so that the entire process was streamlined and very simple. The real estate agents for both the seller and ourselves commented at settlement how impressed they were with the staff at Apple.
Description of Work: We obtained a mortgage from Apple Federal Credit Union to purchase a home.
