Alpha Animal Hospital

They were great! I called because the puppy had fallen out of my arms and hit his head on the cement, but I also needed an initial checkup on him and the 4 year old. The practice fit me in the same day I called, and when I arrived the vet was waiting for us and took us right back and performed a thorough examination. Any vaccinations were taken care of, and tests run. Everything was fine and I was extremely happy with the service provided.

In each instance, the wonderful team at Alpha have gone above and beyond what we would have expected in not only providing first class care, but also always making themselves available to answer questions and provide guidance over the telephone. They also have very affordable rates, unlike many of the other animal clinics in this area. Plus, we've found that the vets at Alpha are very up to date about the latest veterinary treatments.
On those occasions when we've left a pet there during the day for scans, etc., the animal is always fussed over and treated with love and affection by the techs - and is very calm and relaxed when we return for pick up. Alpha has also been great with fitting us in at short notice when one of the animals gets sick. They're not just very good, professional veterinarians, they're also very good people. They treat each pet like its their own and understand how owners feel about their pets. For them, the comfort of the animal is paramount. We've been pet owners for decades, and Alpha is hands down the best veterinary clinic that we've ever seen.

This process was fairly quick. We dropped her off in the morning and picked her up in the evening. They have been our vet for about 6 months now. They are close by and have good hours. The staff is very friendly.

Alpha Animal Hospital was a pleasant surprise. When our regular vet relocated to another state, we began searching for someone who would make us, as well as our cats, feel completely at ease. The folks at Alpha are all that and much more. The premises are warm and friendly and everyone is very welcoming. Dr. Segl spent a considerable amount of time talking to us and answering all our questions. Throughout the examination, she explained what was happening - it is clear that she is very knowledgeable and experienced in this field, which was a big plus for us!

Perhaps most importantly, our cats were calmer than they have ever been at the vet, in no small part due to Dr. Segl and her assistant, Elizabeth, constantly stroking and brushing them and showering them with attention and treats. I’m sure our cats thought they were at the spa – what a novel concept – a visit to the vet which feels like a pet vacation! Dr. Segl mentioned to us that she designed Alpha Hospital with pet comfort in mind, ranging from separate examination rooms for dogs and cats, to giving pets a few minutes to get comfortable and calm down before beginning the examination, to putting in windows with a view in the pet boarding area. The cold steel examination table is covered with a soft furry rug to make the pet feel like it is lying on the carpet at home.

Finally, prices are reasonable and your pet is not subjected to unnecessary and expensive tests. All in all, we (and our cats) are very happy to have found this place!

We couldn't be happier with the experience. The price point was actually a bit lower than the VCA prices and you definitely get a better experience overall. Our puppy was given personal treatment and Dr. Segl was fantastic to answer questions and spend the time with you and answer any questions you might have. I never felt rushed or felt like I was just another client. We were so happy with the neutering services, that we are now bringing over our cat and adult dog for all vet work.

Dr. Segel greeted my puppy at the front door, answered all of my questions, and was very gentle with my puppy throughout the whole visit. Having recently relocated to the area, I was very pessimistic about finding a veterinarian that could compare with my veterinarian from "home" that we have used for the past 10 years. In my past experience, the animal hospitals/clinics in the Northern Virginia region have been overpriced and impersonal. We found out about Dr. Segel upon recommendation from a close friend and couldn't thank him enough! Not only are we overjoyed that we have found a reasonably priced, knowledgeable veterinarian, but our puppy seems to like her too!

The personal care stood out. Everyone was extremely friendly and they didn't try to make us take unnecessary tests. When we went back the second time they remembered us and we got the same person each time. The price was very good. We will most definitely use them in the future.

I had been using another vet and was disappointed so Dr. Segl was recommended to me by a friend who spoke very highly of her. Immediately upon entering her suite I felt at ease. It was warm and inviting and the gal who greeted me at the front was really friendly and helpful. She began reviewing the charts before the Doc even came out. She seemed to be very knowledgeable too and not just a front desk person. Once we were in the exam room (which was clean, warm, and inviting- not sterile and cold like a lot), Dr. Segl took some time asking me about the girls, why we were there, what my concerns were etc. She listened and took her time. She examined one at a time and was very gentle and slow the whole time. I came from a vet who was rough and didn't seem to have much compassion for the animals- more of a fix-it guy. I could tell from the get-go that Dr. Segl cared about their experience there as much as I did! As she examined she took time to pet, soothe and talk to them. I really liked this! She even brought in her camera at the end of the appointment to take a photo of our new gal who had climbed into the sink and was curled up for a nap. You could tell she truly loves animals- an attribute you HOPE vets have, but all do not. I asked her about testing them for worms and she said it would be better to bring in a sample to test that way. Then we wouldn’t have to poke and prod them unnecessarily. I was SO relieved to hear this! My previous vet tested and dewormed my kitty every time I went...and she's an indoor cat!!!! My new kitty had been scratching her head and had watery eyes. When we found nothing "wrong", Dr. Segl took the time to tell me the possibilities and even talked about food choice and allergies. Things that my previous vet never mentioned- we were always given ear drops that were no fun to anyone and probably unnecessary. Overall, great experience! She took her time and listened to me. I asked questions about their health and even about their behavior. I don't want to make it sound like she took it too slow- I think she let me set the pace. Because I wanted a thorough exam and asked a lot of questions she took the time, but I think she would also be very quick yet still efficient if you needed her to be. I really like how much info she gave me and how she explained things. She was gentle and nurturing to the animals and I could see their level of comfort with her. By the end they were in no hurry to get back into their carriers. They could have stayed and napped in her exam room. A great sign!!! Love her and her practice and will be calling her our vet from now on!!!!!

Dr. Segl has been our vet for years. She is AWESOME with all animals. What I love about Dr. Segl is that she gets to know each individual pet and gives us owners real-world options for treatment. She has a great staff and great spotless offices ! She would still be our vet if we were 50 miles away !

Dr. Segl is truly a wonderful vet. On arrival, I was greeted by a very clean and professional waiting area and a friendly smile at the front desk. We were in the exam room within 10 minutes of the appointment time. Dr. Segl spent a lot of time carefully evaluating my dog and really listened to what I was saying. She discussed the issues and treatment options, taking time to explain each one in detail. She really seems to do her job with great joy and I will definitely be a return customer!

Dr. Segl is fantastic. I have two dogs - one that has traveled the country with me and seen his fair share of vets. She is by far the best vet I have ever taken him to. She gets you in quickly, and she really knows the ins and outs of vet medicine. The staff is always very friendly and my dogs like to go there. Highly recommend her..

Hillary Segl is the veterinarian. You go in there and make an appointment, I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. She always takes you right away, even if your a walk in! She's done a great job with our dogs. She recommended they lose some weight so we took care of that. She cares about the animals. She knows the names of our animals. She also does exotic animals as well. February is "dental" month. She gives everyone a discount to clean your dog's teeth. She does a great job. She even takes before and after shots. She is very reasonable with price.
