I'm glad that you were happy with the work that we did at your home. I love when we have calls in your neighborhood. It's where I grew up and my parents lived for over 40 years. (In fact, at one point - decades ago - I delivered the morning newspaper to your house.) Please keep in mind that your a/c system is roughly 15 years old now and that you should start preparing to replace it. I'm not saying that it is going to breakdown tomorrow but the average life expectancy is about 18 years. It's better to be prepared than caught off guard. Remember, windshield wipers only break when it's raining just like a/c units only break when it's hot outside.

Despite having a busy work load, they were able to squeeze me in the same week I bought the deal. My husband was home when the tech came out and he was great! He let my husband follow him around and went the extra mile by teaching him about the ac unit! Very friendly company, I would hire them the next time I need my ac looked at.

Thank you so much for the very kind words. We try our best to accommodate everyone's busy schedule. The past couple of weeks have been especially hectic due to the summer heat finally showing up. Our Big Deal special also came out the very first hot day of the year. Everyone turned on their a/c at that time and of course we got swamped with calls from people who had no cooling. We had to prioritize the calls and take care of those people who didn't have air conditioning firdt. It happens every year. It settles down after the initial surge but the first couple of weeks are hard on the staff and especially the crew. Things are still busy but it is certainly more manageable.

Thank you for the review and I am glad that you were pleased with our work. As we tell everyone when we schedule a service of any type, we cannot guarantee any specific time for our arrival. We never know what we will run into from one call to the next. An unexpected or lengthy repair will completely change the schedule for the day. We owe it to the customer whose system we are working on to finish their repair / service if possible. We try to keep the other customers apprised of the technicians' progress. We also offer to call them on their cell (or alternate number) and give them notice when the tech is on the way. This allows the customers to run errands and not be tied down at the house. This way they will not miss the appointment.

My AC was working but fan kept on running even when AC off. The appointment went okay at first but I did not get my money's worth. Provider unhooked wires from my AC unit when he supposedly inspected the unit and knowingly left some of the most important wires out so my AC will not run so I can replace whole unit as he wanted. It was 90 degrees the next day after he visited and I had to suffer with no AC. Wires not hooked back up noted by another provider which I witnessed. He told me compressor was gone and that I needed to replace the whole unit. AC was working before he arrived but had some issues which were repairable but he stated they were not repairable. He went on to give me an estimate of replacing whole unit. When I sought a second opinion, compressor works and only needed to replace fan. Cost of replacing unit per provider close to $6000 while cost of replacing fan from another provider less than $300. AC now works without difficulty. No refrigerant was added as advertised. I need my $59 back.

This service was selected as a Big Deal from Angie's List. I contacted Stokley's Services to schedule the service and I didn't schedule a particular time, just a particular day. They said that they would call me before they come and sure enough, they called about a half hour before they came. The contractor, Jerry, came to the door and introduced himself and I showed him where the air conditioning unit was located in the attic. He told me he was going to go get his tools and come back in and service the unit in the attic, which he did. After he completed servicing the unit in the attic he told me he was going to service the unit outside and he did that as well. Once he was done he came back in and told me everything was working properly, asked me to sign the invoice, thanked me and wished me a good weekend. The whole visit took just a little over an hour from start to finish and Jerry was friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again.

It starts with the people in the office and goes to the service people and the installers. Everyone seems to enjoy working here and it shows in the work that the do. A happy employee seems to make for happy customers. Just to clarify, we do not sub out our work. They are all Stokley's Services employees. Many companies do sub out their work now-a-days and either pay them a flat rate or commission only. We feel that this leads to rushed work that is sloppy, unprofessional and subpar. A person that is paid on commission only does not get paid unless they sell something and that will more times than not sell parts, services, and/or equipment that the customer doesn't really need. That is a practice that is simply not tolerated here.

Stokely's is a top notched company. They are fair and do high qualify work. They have serviced my 2 HVAC systems semi annually since they were installed by them. They are punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
Description of Work: Stokely's installed new HVAC systems (2) - American Standard - in my home years ago and has maintained them ever since. As part of an annual service agreement, they visit twice a year to clean, adjust and inspect the equipment. We have a 2 zone home ith a gas furnace and air handler in the attic with an associated A/C condenser outside. The downstairs is served by a dual fueled combined outside unit.

Thanks for the great report card and wonderful comments. We're not the type of company that will try to sell you something unless you need it. We may make some recommendations to help prolong the life of the system or improve the quality of the air inside the home, but only if we feel that there is a need and a benefit to it. I know that most of our competitors don't think like we do. Remember, most of the other HVAC contractors in the area hire technicians that are paid by commission only: if they don't sell something they don't get paid anything for the call. This puts pressure on the tech to sell something because he wants money. This also tends to lead to higher charges for the items because he makes more money. The installers of these same companies are paid by the job. They get a flat fee for every job that they put in. The problem with this is the more they can put in, the more money they can make on the call. This leads to installations with very poor quality. Our techs and installers are paid by the hour. I want them to do the job right the first time and they are given the time to do things right. We don't want to go back for something we do wrong. Do mistakes happen? Sure they do: no one is perfect. The difference with us is that we stand behind what we say and what we do. We will take care of a mistake if we make one. All you have to do is call to let us know. We want quality, not quantity. I wish I could take credit for this next line, but I can't. At Stokley's Services, Perfection is expected, excellence will be tolerated.

It went well. We had some scheduling challenges because both of us work, but Stokely's came through with flying colors..they came out 1 hour earlier than their normal start time

You still have some years left to go before it is time to replace your system but you should start at least planning so that it doesn't catch you by surprise. Whoever installed the system should have taken a few minutes (literally a few minutes) to flip the furnace and coil so that it could be serviced much easier which would, in turn, increase it's life expectancy.

I cannot express enough how wonderful this company is! Our furnace died on us about a month ago and our tenant upstairs wasn't able to turn on their old furnace until a vent cap was on the roof. My husband and I quickly turned to angie's list to find someone suitable that would not cost us an arm and a leg. After the techs came to check out the upstairs furnace, they offered to tell us what was wrong with our furnace downstairs as well. We found some interesting information that we did not notice ourselves of how it was hooked up wrong. They offered us a great deal to be able to replace both furnaces at once, with several different options to replace them/improve our duct work. It only took them two days!! They were very speedy, professional, and super friendly! Since I don't know anything about furnaces, they made use to describe the information in a way I would understand. If you need anything fixed or replaced Stokley's Services Inc. is the first ones I would call!

I live for reviews like this. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the positive feedback from all of the Angie's List customers. However, I especially enjoy when someone flat out recommends us to other people. There were several problems with the original install that needed to be corrected; unfortunately, my service tech didn't catch all of them when he first went to service the furnace. One of the things that I think sets far apart and above other heating and air conditioning contractors is that once we quote you a price, that is the price for the job. If we didn't catch a problem during the initial survey, that's our fault. I simply don't think that it is right to charge the customer extra money because we missed something. If we suspect that additional work may be needed (for example, perhaps something is hidden & can't be seen until we remove a piece of the duct, equipment, or even a partition) we will let you know in advance. More times than not, we will make the repairs anyway: depending on the extent of work & materials involved. I want everyone to have a good experience when they contact Stokley's Services to do work for them. This is my family business, started in 1938 by my maternal-Grandfather. I am the 3rd generation at Stokley's and I've been doing this work all my life: despite the fact that I went to school to be an optometrist. The reputation of Stokley's Services is extremely important to myself, my employees, and, all of my family members: even the family members that don't work here. If there is ever a problem I want to know about it so I can take care of it. Thanks again for the wonderful words of praise!! :)

Our first contact was in the middle of the night, and he was incredibly polite and helpful in walking me through the steps to restart the furnace, to see if that would solve the problem. He called me back when he said he would, to check in to see if the restart fixed the issue. It didn't. The person who came out the next day, Jerry, was very friendly, helpful, polite, and did the job quickly. He was in and out in 45 minutes, and got my house heating back up. I was very happy with both the quality and cost of the repair, especially considering it was done on a Saturday.

I'm sorry that the attempted restart/reset of your system didn't work, but it was certainly worth a try. Perhaps we are different, but I would prefer to help someone get restart the system and help them get through a bitter cold night. It may not be the best business/profit decision to make, but It is certainly the most compassionate. I also wonder how many companies that claim to have 24 hour service actually do. Further, how many companies even answer the phone in the middle of the night? Thanks for sending in a review on our services. Please keep in mind that even though your system is not very old, it was a little low on refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit should be sealed so you are not supposed to have to add Freon - unless there is a leak or the system was not charged properly to begin with. Please pay attention to how it is operating when the hot weather returns. Just being a little low can cause a lot of damage to an air conditioning system. I would recommend that the system be serviced in the spring or early summer just to make sure everything is okay.

The service worked out well. He did not charge me more than the big deal charge. They were pretty informative, I had asked his opinion about how long the furnace was going to last, and he gave me an estimate for a replacement of the furnace, and of the water heater. They were pretty open about the information.

They were great. They showed me rust that was occurring on the furnace unit and explained that it was caused by A/C drain lines and why the problem was occurring. They gave me an estimate for repairing the problem on the spot - they had to schedule that repair for later on, but that repair went excellently as well. They also gave me a rough estimate on the life left in my furnace and - upon request - provided me a rough estimate for a new system. I would definitely hire them again and plan to when my system reaches end of life.
Description of Work: They did a heat pump inspection, per the "big deal", and then returned at a later date to reinstall some A/C drain lines that were causing leakage over the furnace.

Shortly after closing on my home I found out their was a possible gas leak when the utility came out to turn on the gas service. I already had Stokley's Services lined up to come out and inspect the furnace after the gas was turned on. The technician from Stokley's arrived very quickly and was extremely helpful in determining my problems and possible repairs. After a few minutes of discussion I decided to have all the gas plumbing replaced. I had already talked to Rob Shortt of Stokley's about moving a tank water heater and re-plumbing it in another room. So with the gas plumbing issues that existed and the cost of moving the water heater I decided to go with a tankless water heater in addition to the new gas plumbing. This job was a bit different because not only was it replacing all the gas plumbing and installing a new tankless water heater, but I was also working with the gas company to move the gas meter to a different location. This brought about some unique challenges with the job which Stokley's handled beautifully. Mr. Shortt bent over backwards to accommodate my personal schedule and the peculiar circumstances surrounding the job. He, and all the technicians working on the job, went the extra mile to not only complete the job, but make sure I was taken care of. They even took the time to assemble a temporary pipe from the existing gas meter to the connection for the new meter so I would not go without heat and hot water. The technicians were all, in a nutshell, awesome! They were courteous, friendly, and answered every question I had. They made me feel very comfortable and confident in what they were doing. They did a beautiful job installing the Rinnai tankless water heater and the gas plumbing under the house is clean and professional. The technicians worked hard and had some long evenings at my house a couple of times. Once the gas service was turned on another Stokley's technician came out to inspect my furnace, clean the coils, and set-up the new Rinnai water heater at no charge! You may find a heating and cooling company that is cheaper. You may find one that is more expensive. But I don't think you will find one that has the quality, workmanship, and class of Stokley's Services.

They were excellent. Jerry was very thorough, took the time to do a complete inspection and cleaning of my A/C unit. Jerry was very easy to work with and talk to, as he explained everything to me.

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your experience with Stokley's Services back in July. I knew that I had found a great technician and person when Jerry first interviewed for the job. I offered him a job on the spot - pending a favorable background check of course. He fits the mold so well of what I want from a service tech. He's friendly, polite, courteous, and honest. He's also very knowledgeable with many years of experience. I've never seen him upset; actually, I can say that he seems to always be smiling. He had worked for several companies in the area before we met. He has told me that he loves working for Stokley's because he likes the way we treat our customers. He genuinely seems to care about the company, his job, and most importantly (to me) our customers. I think we all like to take pride in our work and it makes it easier when you know that you are being fair and honest in all of your transactions. There have been times where Jerry has volunteered to go out to a customer's at no charge to the company because he knows that the customer needed assistance. In cases like that, we decided that Jerry should be paid but the company would not charge the customer because it was so important to him. We try to be charitable but being in an office we don't always get to see the particular circumstances of some of our customers. Just yesterday, we were at a young Navy couples home. They had 9 kids: not all of them were theirs. They had taken in the children of some of the relatives. They had no heat and made comment that the timing of their problem was horrible due to the holidays but they had to have heat. Jerry told me the problem that he found with the system. The system was old and really needs to be replaced but they simply did not have the money to even consider replacement. It was a relatively small problem that was easily fixed but he needed to know what to charge them. He then told me about all of the kids. He didn't ask me to help but I could hear it in his voice. I simply asked him if they were nice people. He said they were incredibly nice and that the kids were great too. I asked if thought that they were deserving of a break and he simply responded, "Yes sir!" I told him to tell the customers that this one was on Stokley's Services and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving for me. He told me this morning that the father actually hugged him and thanked him. I am sharing this story not to pat myself on the back for an act of charity; rather, I am sharing this story to show how the charitable actions of Jerry has rubbed off on me and others in the company. In closing, I'm glad that you liked Jerry: we're pretty fond of him too! From our family to yours, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas!!!

They actually found that I'd been using equipment that should have gone out about 10 years ago. There were no problems with scheduling and communicating, they got back in touch quickly, and their technicians are highly competent. They did such a good job with the inspection that I hired them to install all new equipment. In fact, there probably the best hvac company that I've used.

It takes a while to find the right people. We want quality people that not only knowhow to do the job but also represent the company and it's values. I have heard too many horror stories of rip-off type of companies and that is not what we are about. We want to go the extra mile to do the job right the first time and look for ways to improve the operation of your system. We also do the little extra things that set us apart from our competition. We do not send "maintenance technicians" out to do a maintenance. Typically, they are little more than a helper that ac company doesn't yet trust enough to do service work. If a "maintenance technician" runs into a problem, he has to call his company and they will send out an actual service tech: usually on another day. We send out a full-fledged service tech who can take care of the system while he is there.
