I manage my son's property in his absence, and hired Dan Baxter to work on his house because I had such a good experience with AACAD on mine. I wanted to see why there was a 10+ degree difference between the upstairs & downstairs rooms. He found several "repair jobs" that had been done on the ductwork in the attic by previous owners. Under several layers of various kinds of tape, the baffles had been shut off, & there were large holes in the ducts. There were several major air leaks in the furnace/AC unit itself & the emergency switch had been taped down in the "off" position. After having the repairs done & ducts cleaned, the occupants can feel a huge difference in the indoor climate, & energy bills are lower. The staff are very efficient & professional, & I was very pleased with all aspects of their work.

I contacted Dan Baxter to clean my 20-year old air ducts because I was having a problem with very fine powdery dust in my upstairs bedroom & breathing problems at night. He inspected my heat and air system in the attic and showed me where the ducts had not been properly attached to a new furnace installed a few years ago. They were pulling air & particles from the attic and distributing it throughout the house. He did the rapairs, replaced some flexible ducts that had gotten damaged, cleaned & sanitized my whole air duct system. I no longer have the night time breathing problems and dust. He also cleaned my dryer vent, which was almost completely blocked, and now my laundry dries in half the time, even the towels. Mr. Baxter & his staff were very courteous, careful, & clean. They gave thorough explanations to all of my questions. I was satisfied with the price too.

I must have had at least a dozen S&K personnel at my home during the entire installation process. Everything was installed with the utmost of care.

They are timely at what they do and they know what they're doing. The only thing I question is their pricing. They installed an AC for my son and he was very happy with the system and the service as well but we felt the pricing might have been set a bit high. My lack of knowing precise and accurate industry pricing however could be . I actually activated an Angie's List account to assist me in those pricing decisions. They are indeed a reliable company in my oppinion in every other regard.

I called and scheduled an appointment for Friday afternoon and the plumber never showed. I'll assume that they did show, but we just didn't hear them somehow. I called back to re-schedule and did so for Tues morning. 1030 rolled around and nobody showed, so I called to confirm and after some shuffling around they did confirm. Nobody ever showed up. If you're looking for reliability, look elsewhere.

I've had about everything. They do good work and are reasonable on prices. They did a lot of small jobs put together in November.

On February, 2009 we noticed a musty smell coming from under the sink. We removed all of the items under the sink (cleaners etc.), removed the Rubbermaid lining covering the bottom of the cabinet under the sink and discovered that the floor of the cabinet was black with mold. We called Smith and Keene to come and inspect the damage. The serviceman came on April 1, 2009. He removed the food disposal and said that we needed to buy a new one and he could get it for us. He did not elaborate on what the problem was that caused the water damage under the sink. Obviously this leak had been occuring over a long perios of time. I told the serviceman that the disposal had been replaced at least two years ago and had not been causing any problems. In fact, their serviceman was the last one to have done any work under the sink. I asked to speak to the Supervior of the serviceman and was told that they would do the caulking of the sink, but they would not be responsible for anything else. I fully described the damage and he would not discuss the matter any further. Our sink, disposal, dishwasher has been disconnected since April 1st. Since they would not consider their responsibility to correct the damage, I have no other recourse but to send this negative report with the hopes that other senior citizens, and all others, will be spared having this kind of situation. We will now have to contract with another plumber and cabinet maker and possibly an expert in drywall replacement to correct this horrendous problem. We are seeking legal aid and have reported this problem in writing to the Better Business Bureau. Our homeowner policy has a $1000 deductible and we are pondering whether we will even be eligible for replacement damages. Please help us.

He was very professional and showed me everything he did. He did more than the average duct cleaner. He had all the equipment necessary. He painted our ceiling vents because it was a new house and they weren't painted. They were very professional and I am very happy with the service.

They did a great job overall, but mainly they did great disposing the part that was in the attic. They were clean and careful and installed a heating pump that it was better than the one that they had told us.

Was supposed to come at 8 am in the morning and wasn't notified, so I called them, and they said it was a bit of a delay, and they wouldn't be there until later in the evening, so I have decided to go with another service provider for this work.

Discovered no air conditioning coming out of the vents, but the AC unit was running outside. Called Smith & Keene because they recharged the freon last year. They couldn't make it out for 5 days. It got cold over the weekend, and found that heat didn't come out, either, indicating a problem with the air handler. Smith & Keene finally showed up and confirmed it; only motor they could find is in Texas, and that Customer Service would call us back with a price. No call. I called them, and they said the motor was on order. They couldn't tell me how much this was going to cost. I pushed for an estimate, they said between $409 and $500. Waited another 5 days for the motor to come in. When they called to schedule the install, they still wouldn't provide a solid estimate until I pressed them for it. Customer Service seemed perturbed that I wanted an estimate for the work. Also, this website says they don't charge for travel. Not true-assessment cost me $65 in travel.

Very, very frustrating. The company has grown too fast for its competency level. They have not charged me for services to date but living without air conditioning is no compensation.

They did a fairly good job. Ordering the new part for the air conditioner was difficult. Then actually getting them to come out here to install it, was even harder because they were so busy. The people were polite and wonderful though. My air conditioner now works and I haven't had any problems with it so far.

We purchased the unit and they came out pretty quickly to install the unit. They were very professional and did a good job on the installation. The only problem we had with them was that their service calls after the installation was really slow.

They came out when they said they would, and were on time. The guy was courteous and seemed experienced and knowledgeable. He worked hard to get it done in one day's time. He did a good job too, because we haven't needed the unit serviced again since he worked on it.

I was satisfied with the purchase of the new heating unit. I thought for all of the labor it took, it was a very reasonable price. The removal of the oil tank was very hard and tedious work and they did an excellent job. They had the new heating unit up and running sooner that expected and I got to give them credit for that. I would recommend them to anyone.
