After doing much research, I decided beforehand, I wanted to use GAF shingles with a certified GAF Master Elite installer doing the work. This requirement quickly narrowed my contractor list.
I received 3 estimates, all of which were comparable. I chose Jayhawk Exteriors primarily because of their representative Arnie Ireland. Arnie had an answer for every question I had, and appeared to be much more informed about roofing in general. I called Arnie on a few occasions and I’d often find he was up on a roof. That in and of itself spoke volumes. All roof vents were replaced with ridge vents, new flashing, and damaged plywood replaced as necessary.
Meticulous clean up after daily work, a great looking roof, competitive price & a lifetime warranty through GAF backed by Jayhawk.
Enough said.
"We have been trying to collect on this job since July. The last time we requested payment for this over 60 days past due account was on 9/22/15 – the very same day this review was posted. There are several items in this review which are simply not true – a. We absolutely did NOT install new metal over the existing metal. If in fact we had done that, it would be blatantly apparent in the photos that were supplied to us by the condo association president. The existing metal was removed from the site and properly disposed of. b. Nail heads – when hammering in the nails, it often happens that the force of the hammer hitting the nail head will pop the color off the nail head, which is why touch-up paint is used. The touch-up paint is manufactured to match the coil metal – in this case the color was Royal Brown which is what was used. The only obvious nail heads seen in the photo’s provided are on the rake metal – which, as reiterated many times, was not in our contract. We were contracted for gutters and fascia metal only, as the association wanted to save money and decided to replace just the fascia metal. c. “The workmen left trash on the property” – respectfully, what trash? The materials used where pre-cut to size at our shop, so there would have been no scrap material, packaging, etc., so I don’t know what trash she is speaking of. If in fact, if she did find anything, it could have only been the paint can, which if it was, I’m sure it was only because it rolled off the 3 story roof without the workers’ knowledge and they missed picking it up before they left. Honest mistake. d. “The fascia and drip edge are warped” - The fascia and drip edge do show a few places where they appear to be a little warped. This is the nature of the material – coil material expands and contracts in the weather, but we do acknowledge we could have improved on the workmanship in that area to ensure a more aesthetically pleasing product and given the chance, would have been happy to remedy that situation, however due the length of time before we received a reply to the numerous messages we left - well before this review was posted - they say someone else was hired to fix it. Jayhawk Exteriors has won the Angie’s list Super Service Award for 7 consecutive years - in multiply categories, in addition to being awarded a number of Consumer Excellence awards from GAF and CertainTeed. With that being said, I think it is obvious that customer satisfaction is not something we take lightly and customer service is one of our top priorities."
