I'm glad I called Airhandlers--my non-functioning heat pump problem was repaired and my air conditioner is cooling and working perfectly now. The technician thoroughly went over my whole system and replaced the faulty capacitor. He explained the details of the system for easy understanding. He also made suggestions to improve the efficiency of the unit that had apparently been overlooked by well intentioned past repairs/upgrades to the system. I will definitely call Airhandlers for future help and would recommend them to anyone needing furnace/heat pump repairs/replacements.

So I go to Angie's List. I saw the $49 diagnostic test deal for Air Handler's. They had great reviews and it was a very good price for the diagnostic, so I purchase the deal and they called to schedule the appointment right away. I had John come to my house to evaluate what was happening. He instructed me to turn on the unit. He said that the compressor is clearly working. That there was no need to replace it. He did say that is was leaking Freon, but that the leak was so small that there was no sense in replacing the coil. He added Freon to my unit. There was another part that needed replacing that was blown out probably due to the bad storms we've been having. He did say that the Dominion power device used to control my unit was unnecessarily tripping my unit on and off. He disconnected it for me as I had requested. He came to check the vent temperatures inside. Low and behold, the unit was blowing cold air. I only paid for the part and labor - $137 total compared to a potentially $5,000+ job quote from the first company.
I will be strongly recommending Air Handler's if anyone has any issues with their HVAC unit and I'm signing up for their maintenance plan as well.

"We sincerely apologize for the miscommunication between us. When your wife called, we were under the impression this was an estimate for a replacement system, which we do free of charge. Josh never diagnosed anything with your equipment; he just measured and assessed the system for replacement. He was told that another company was out and diagnosed the system low on refrigerant. Josh mentioned that if the coil was leaking, an option would be to replace the coil instead of replacing the whole system; again, diagnostics or leak tests were not performed by us because he was under the impression you were interested in an estimate for replacement of the system.
