It cost me $90 an hour, which is exorbitant. I will not be going back especially, since they didn't fix it. There were extenuating circumstances and it is rather complex having to do with the cruise control switch mechanism. It gets very complicated after that. They're not completely at fault. But they sure could have done a better job. When I left the shop the first time it was working according to them. It never worked according to me. I took it back. They said, "Oh, well that was just a lucky thing that it worked for us." Now, they need another $400 to fix it. I would have appreciated at least a little more flexibility in trying to work with me. They just gave me the bottom line "There it is. Take it or leave it."

Wife left the truck with them at thier Main Street location at 8am asking for a particular snow tire I had researched. I asked her to get All-terrain tires if those were not in stock. They called at 9 saying they didn't have them but had some that would work as well. At 5pm she walked over in the snow and the tires were not installed! At almost 6pm she left with the and quot;all-seasonand quot; tires and the roads were dangerous. She got stuck in the middle of the road on the way home and had to abandon our truck.

Upon discovery of some unsafe wear on my VW Jetta, I bought tires from their Pantops location because they were close and had that size of Conti tires in stock. They said I needed new shocks. I didn't buy them, but took the car to Flow VW the next day and their mechanic said my shocks are fine.

My truck started leaking transmission fluid, and in short order wouldn't even go into gear. I called University Tire on Main Street because it's walking distance to work, got the name of a tow company that they work with, and had it towed. They got me in quickly, got the work completed within hours with no appointment, and I was on my way.
I've used them before for tires, inspection, and oil change on a Mini Cooper. They made excellent recommendations and on that occasion also were done in no time.
They've earned a loyal customer in me! I highly recommend them for people in the UVA area for their convenient location.

1- They used to be great-outstanding service as well as great deals with quality tires. They saved me and a number of friends significant $$ on several jobs
2-They must have changed staff or moved some key people to another location
3- First on one day I brought my car in and they said I could wait about an hour that it was not that busy-I waited at a nearby restaurant for 2 hours, kept calling and was told it was still being worked on. After 3 1/2 hours I said I have to be going and they admitted that they had not even touched the car. I asked why they didn't tell me each time I called
4-Brought it one more time fro oil change/tire rotation.and I mentioned a clanging noise like something was loose-the guy at the counter said it must be the transmission-really? That could cost thousands I doubted that- it was some loose brake part that took a minute to fix when I took it to someone else.
5- Two of my friends have found the same problem-originally they loved the service and the pricing but in the last year they say it has deteriorated.

The work was completed in a timely matter and we were very happy with it.

They recommended a number of brands for the tires. I selected a mid-level priced type of tire and I was done in under an hour. They have a very clean and inviting waiting room complete with a TV and a clean rest room.
