A++!!! When I emailed the company, Jerry responded immediately and gave me an estimate via email to replace a TXV valve in my Lennox HVAC unit. His technicians performed a thorough evaluation and verified the diagnosis that I received from another company. They performed the work promptly and expertly and saved me $825.00 from what the other company was going to charge me. I'm extremely happy to have found Mannix Heating & Cooling and will use them from now on for all my HVAC needs.

From the moment that Jerry walked into the furnace room for an estimate on replacing my system, I was impressed with his knowledge of the heating systems. In the first 3 minutes of inspecting (or less) he had already identified problems with my system that had been overlooked by the company that had been 'maintaining' my system for 11 years. The system we selected was a hybrid heat pump, a very quiet one! The furnace has a 95% rating. The installation went smoothly. The crew was professional, listened to my concerns about particular parts of the installation and did their work quickly and efficiently. Jerry returned for the final inspection and made sure the tiniest details were taken care of before asking me to sign off. (Oh, and he noticed that my current filter was dirty, so he picked up a new one for me!) Finally, he walked me through the operation of the thermostat (very straight forward - Infinity rocks!) I would/will recommend Jerry to anyone for HVAC install and I am looking forward to a long relationship as a maintenance customer.

When our 10 year old A/C and heat pump failed yet again, we decided it was time to replace it with a modern unit rather than throw more money at repairs. I interviewed three contractors. Jerry Mannix was the only one who clearly explained what work was actually needed and what was optional. Jerry laid out the different options, and explained what the trade-offs of going with the cheaper vs more expensive option would be, and patiently asnwered all my questions. On the day of the job the crew arrived promptly. The work was done quickly and cleanly, even though the old system had to be removed through a small attic access hatch, and the new system carried up in pieces the same way. Once the installation was complete Jerry verified that everything was working and ensured that we thoroughly understood how to operate the new system. He did not leave until he had verified that the crew had completely cleaned up. I would definitely use Mannix again and recommend them without reservation.

He really explained to me that getting a high end efficiency boiler wasn't the best bet. He said our stuff was so old that anything new would be a step up and it would be a lot of money up front, he could have charged us more but he just explained what made sense. He was consulting us as well as doing the work. He wants to do what's best for the client. They are going to give you a fair price, they are going to work with you to decide what is best for your situation, and going to get the job done within the time period he promises. They will be very neat and tidy.

Our heating system broke down on a Sunday afternoon. Mannix kept updating us on how soon they could find a new motor and install it, which they had done by 11:30 on Monday morning (the Martin Luther King holiday -- not everyone was working). We felt very confident in the work and we liked the price: $75 less than the estimate. In fact we liked the service so much that we signed up for an annual HVAC maintenance contract for another $169.

When I was having a new water heater installed, cracks in the basement furnace duct cap were discovered, potentially causing carbon monoxide to leak into the basement. I called several companies to get this fixed. No one had the right size cap. Jerry Mannix was the only one who was willing to spend time to try to find a solution. He sent Ben Smitson the next day who constructed an excellent and relatively low cost alternative. Ben also inspected the attic furnace for free and discovered a problem with that furnace flue as well, which was repaired by Jerry Mannix. This company demonstrated the best customer service and value I've seen in a long time.

First class. Great crew did a neat clean install in 8 hours. Professional and careful. They really care about their work and the owner Jerry Mannix started and finished the job by inspecting their work. After one week of operation, the system is quieter and much better than the old 90% Lennox Gas Pulse.

I needed two programmable thermostats to be installed. Most companies wouldn't let me buy the one I wanted or wanted to buy it themselves. Mannix understood that I already purchased the thermostats that I wanted and came in and installed it and helped with good guidance. I have a heat pump and an emergency heater line and they did the job ver professionally. The Technician also looked at a central humidifier we have and fixed it so it would run smoothly. Great job and would recommend them to my friends and family.

Everything about this experience was good....from foot coverings on the crew's shoes to a secure feeling having them in the house. We signed on for the twice-a-year maintenance program,which compared MOST favorably with competition. Jerry made us feel good about spending 7K,and that ain't easy!

Mannix HVAC did a fantastic job replacing my 23 year old furnace & A/C. Jerry Mannix, the owner, dealt with me personally throughout the entire installation and even stopped by a couple of weeks after the installation to check on the system. My furnace was 23 years old and definitely ready for replacement. I called Jerry Mannix for an estimate based on a friend's recommendation. I was interested in a hybrid heating system (Natural Gas Furnace with Heat Pump) for both environmental and utility savings. Jerry was open and honest regarding which brands that he sold were the most trouble-free and reliable, and it matched my research. None of the other contractors had given me the option of the heat pump/furnace hybrid even when I asked about it. Mannix's bid was slightly more ($600), but I was getting a hybrid system and I sensed that Mannix was the most focused on customer satisfaction so I went with my hunch and chose Mannix. My installation had a couple of minor complications - the heat pump was larger than my old A/C, so the installers used some spare patio pavers and gravel to enlarge the old base for the new heat pump. Also, my house was retrofitted for forced air, so space was tight for the humidifier. The installation team dealt with those issues without any problems or changes to my estimate. Overall, I was impressed with the people Jerry had working on the installation. The system has been in operation for about a month (Oct/Nov) - I've used just the heat pump to heat my circa 1936 Cape Cod, and it's been more than adequate. Given high natural gas costs and our relatively low electricity costs here in Virginia, I recommend you evaluate this option. My highest gas bill with my old furnace was around $250 in the height of heating season but so far I've never had an electric bill over $100, even in summer. Couple of things to take note of: VERIFY THAT YOUR CONTRACTOR IS LICENSED BY THE STATE! You can do this online in Virginia. Jerry pointed this out to me, and it eliminated one of my contractor's bids, since they weren't licensed by the state. If you use an unlicensed contractor, it could void your warranty with the manufacturer. Jerry is the owner of the business and the contractor's license is in his name, which I think is considerably better than an employee holding the contractor's license. My overall impression is that Jerry Mannix s a truly honest businessman - he's a graduate of George Mason University, and has been in the business for several years working for other companies. He understands the value of a good reputation.

Overall, I couldn't have received more excellent and timely response. Mannix Heating and Cooling was professional and provided quality service at a reasonable rate.

Jerry came to the house in the evening to accommodate our busy schedules and was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. He inspected the system and determined that the recommendation we received from out home energy audit was unnecessary. He had opportunities to sell us something like a major repair to our system, but he did not. Instead, he educated us on how our system was designed and what could (and could not) be done to change it. We were very impressed and will definitely call Mannix for any heating or A/C work we might need in the future.

It was an excellent experience since he and his employees were concerned with our satisfaction. I would recommend this company and I will use them again for anthing else I might need.

At the end of September, our air conditioner suddenly stopped working. On the recommendation of a neighbor, I called Mannix Heating and Cooling. When it became apparent that we needed to replace the air conditioning unit, I sought out estimates from Jerry and others for replacing the unit and the furnace. Jerry is the owner of the company, and took the time to personally come out and explain the options. The other companies sent their sales people. No one else bothered to EXPLAIN the choices. Jerry was the only one who factored in how long we were planning to stay in the house before giving us his recommendation. In the end, we decided on a hybrid system consisting of a two stage 80% gas furnace and a high efficiency two stage heat pump. The system qualified for the federal tax credit, the state rebate, and Carriers own rebate program. It was a lousy weather day when they installed everything. All were extremely courteous and professional. I was particularly impressed that Jerry himself oversaw the work and spent a good portion of the day with his team. Various online consumer sources stress the importance of proper installation. A top of the line unit, improperly installed, will have a shorter lifespan. I felt the team at Mannix Heating and Cooling was experienced and the most knowledgeable of those I interviewed. I am confident I made the right choice and I highly recommend them.

As usual, my experience wit Mannix heating and Cooling was fantastic. They called me to schedule the service at my convenience. They gave me a small window of time when they would arrive that day. They called me the day before to make sure it was still a good day and time for me. They called the day of to let me know how they were doing on the arrival time they proposed. The tech called when he was on his way from the previous job to give me a specific ETA. What more could one ask for in that regard? When the tech arrived, he took great care before entering my home. He put the protectors on his shoes to prevent the possibility of dirty shoes mucking up my floors. He was polite, clean and professional. I was on conference calls on and off while he was working and had no concerns about leaving him unattended in my home. He took care with my pets, didn't leave outside doors open and took care to close the doors I asked him to to prevent the animals from getting into areas they weren't supposed to be. I had a specific 'issue' with my system not being balanced. I seemed to be getting no real airflow into the back area of the main floor of my home. I explained that to him and he said he would look into that while he was working. At some point while I was in my office, I suddenly felt airflow again from the duct. He had identified a problem with a damper and took care of it. Not only did he get airflow back into the back section of the house, he took care to make sure the whole floor was better balanced, so I would have even heating and cooling throughout the floor. I think a lot of people wouldn't take the care to do what he did to make sure it was ALL working properly, not just fixing one thing. A great experience...and kudos to Mannix Heating & Cooling. I made the right choice in making them my HVAC company.

We called Mannix Heating and Cooling to service our AC during one of the hottest heatwaves in July, and , knowing they were probably CRAZY busy, we weren't really expecting that they would be able to accommodate our service call the same day. Well, Jerry personally returned our call within the hour, and said he would make every attempt to see us that day if at all possible. Sure enough, even though it was much later in the day, he was able to come to our house and immediately diagnose the problem. Jerry sat down with us and patiently explained what we needed, what our options were, and went over every detail of the cost, confidently answering any questions we had. The day of installation of our new system, he was there to introduce us to the team doing the work, and came back later in the day when the work was complete to make sure we were comfortable with the ins and outs of our new system. Let me also say, my husband is a LEED certified Sr. Project Manager with a major commercial construction company, and was well acquainted with all of the terms referring to energy-efficient systems, and upon doing some research of our own, determined that the cost Jerry quoted for our particular system was VERY competitive with other companies. I hope you appreciate the detailed review! We can't say enough good things about Mannix Heating and Cooling, and I'm sure you will NOT be disappointed should you need their services!

Jerry was able to see visit us on the Friday before a holiday weekend, having been called only a few hours earlier. He went over all of our options in detail and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He was efficient, courteous, friendly, and not at all pushy. He attempted to fix our old heat pump (it would have been a temporary fix) for free. Jerry's team installed the system quickly and if anything, the areas they worked in were cleaner than when they arrived. It was absolutely amazing. We have worked with many contractors in a very short period of time, and Mannix was by far the absolute best experience we have had. I will not go to any other HVAC company again.

I was referred to Jerry Mannix by neighbors who said that Mannix's philosophy was to not gouge clients like other HVAC companies do, but to charge a fair price for the products and services provided. When I called Mannix, Jerry Mannix, the owner, answered the phone and came over the same day. We discussed my options, given that I want to sell the house within the year and didn't need a top of the line, gold plated system. I had received an estimate from another company (with which I had a service contract) to replace the system, coil and circuit board, and their estimate was $1700 more for replacing my old a/c system with the same Trane system and Carrier circuit board, including the discount Jerry gave me when I mentioned my Angies List membership. The technicians were very professional and covered my floors with white cloth to protect them. They also responded with utmost courtesy when I asked them to use a level to show me the new outdoor unit had been installed properly. Jerry has since called me twice since, to make sure I'm still satisified with the system. I highly recommend Mannix Heating & Cooling.

We just moved from out of state. Our A/C unit broke and a representative came out to fix it. He mentioned that it wouldn't last the summer, which we had been told previously. He worked with our warranty company and was very courteous and proffessional. When it broke for a second time, we called them for an estimate, and the owner called us back almost immediately. He was also very professional and came to my house, personally, to talk about our options. We discussed what we wanted, and decided to not only replace our A/C unit, but also our furnace with a high efficiency furnace. He told us about all of the possible ways to save money, where we could receive rebates and which model we could go with to obtain the rebates. We ended up even going with a more efficient model than what he recommened, so he wasn't trying to have us spend more money than we needed. The installers who came were on-time, courteous, and professional, and had the job done sooner than we expected. Once the job was complete, the owner, Jerry, came out to inspect the job and talk with us about our satisfaction. It was wonderful. Prior to working with this company, we worked with one other and we will never go back to them, so it was a pleasant surprise to find Mannix Heating and Cooling. Thank you!!!

My air conditioner was broken and a technician from another provider had told me it was time for a replacement. I contacted Mannix among other potential vendors. Jerry Mannix was super fast to respond, calling me back within 30 mins of my request submission. We were able to meet up the same day to go over options. Jerry is extremely knowledgeable (much more so than others I met), and was great at helping me choose the right system balancing size of house, efficiency objectives and mfg./state refunds. The overall price from Mannix was below other vendors in part because he was more aware of the rebates, etc. Install was completed within a few days. In install Jerry and his team were very efficient and professional. Jerry walked through all the options, etc. in detail with me. He helped submit state and mfg. rebate forms to ensure I was getting the savings we had planned. Mannix is highly recommended.

Our fan broke in the heat and so my engineer husband researched various providers of heating and cooling for 1) a solution to the fan problem with the cost; 2) a diagnosis of entire aged system. Jerry Mannix's analysis showed that it would be an investment in our health and the value of our home to replace the system. We received immediate and long term tax credits which reduced the up front cost, and there are long term benefits of reduced energy consumption. Please contact me in a year to update this review so that we may report on the energy consumed after the winter.

We came home late on Wednesday and discovered the a/c was broken and house was at 85 degrees. We phoned Mannix Heating at about 10:30pm; Jerry answered the phone and asked if we wanted him to come right away or wait until Thursday. Of course we said Thursday and sweated it out for the night. He arrived about 11am the next day and set straight to work. He quickly diagnosed the problem, had the necessary parts with him, replaced everything, explained a bit about how a/c works, fixed up a drainage pipe just to be helpful and had the a/c back up and running less than half an hour. He is great!!
