Compared to other moving companies that I used in the past they were very organized, they worked quickly and efficiently. They were extremely polite and professional. I would use their services again.

Having made many military moves in 20 plus years, I have resigned myself to less than stellar services for our many moves. NOT so with Carmack. From the first contact with Mike for the appraisal, Sharon in the office to the 3 great guys sent to move our stuff, a professional top notch crew and company. I would not hesitate to hire this company again. Arrived as promised and moved our furniture in a timely and professional manner. Wrapped and padded walls and furniture as needed and used floor protection. Many of the employees have been with the company for several years and it showed in the pride in their customer service and end product. A very satisfied customer! Thank you Carmack.

Carmack did an excellent job for us. The packing crew was very careful with all of our items from the smallest piece of china to the largest piece of furniture. They arrived on time and approached the job in a very professional and pleasant manner. The moving crew was equally professional and extremely helpful in positioning our furniture in our new home. Carmack held our household goods for 6 weeks in storage while our new home was being completed. All of our items survived the packing, storage and move in great shape. We selected Carmack based on their climate controlled storage, their price and that fact that the same crew would move our belongs from the old house to storage and then to the new house. Moving is stressful and Carmack did a great job in relieving us of a lot of that stress. Thanks Carmack for your great service.

They were patient because it took a while to sell the townhouse. They would contact me periodlically to see how things were going. When it finally happened, it was short notice but not a problme. They were professional in all ways. All the crew were knowledgeable, careful, thorough and helpful. I would use them again.

Very, very well. Everyone from the company with whom I had contact was professional, well-organized, and pleasant to work with. Price was certainly fair and there were no surprises at the delivery end.

They arrived on time and quickly got to work. Most of the crew worked without issue, being both professional and congenial. One man on the crew, however, decided that he was very upset with the work he was being asked to do by the foreman, and essentially "quit"--moping in the corner until he was picked up. Fortunately, they provided two additional guys to speed up the work. The work was largely done quickly. My biggest issue was that they didn't really listen to my instructions on which rooms to put which boxes, so I ended up having to move a lot of things around myself afterwards. Apparently the owner had also double-booked this team (which had already spent almost 12 hours doing my move) with another whole move that night. They were already late when they left my new house, and it sounded like the crew wasn't going to be able to get a second move done that night. I don't blame the crew for that. There's no reason to have people moving a two-story single family home and then booking a second move for the same day.

My experience with Carmack was fantastic. From my first contact with their sales rep, Michael, everything went smoothly. Michael was very responsive, honest, and helpful. I had never hired professional movers before, so I didn't know the process, but I felt I could trust Carmack from the beginning. Carmack was able to fit me into the schedule on short notice (less than 10 days). The crew of 4 arrived on time and were all very friendly and helpful. They went to work immediately and had everything on the truck in about 45 minutes. They made it to Baltimore in about an hour and a half (on a Friday morning in the rain...pretty good time) and they unloaded the truck in about 45 minutes as well. They were very efficient! I am very happy with the services provided and would use Carmack again in a heartbeat.

That was actually quite disastrous. The numbers they gave me on the estimate were not the numbers that happened in actuality and so that I very much disliked. In the middle of the job they said we needed to have additional movers come, so that was a surprise and I disliked that. They did not pack up anything that was not boxed or even like large trash cans or duffle bags and all kinds of things they said needed to be boxed which is not true for moving companies. Talking about the extra people they said that because it was such a cold day that played into it and I don't see how weather means you need to double the amount of staff numbers, so that was difficult. It was not a good experience. If it wasn't in a box then they wouldn't take it, so we ended up having to move a lot of stuff ourselves even though we hired professional movers because they refused to move that kind of stuff and I could not believe it. They were on time.

The crew was unbelievably hard working, thorough, and careful. They packed the truck, then drove it to NC and unloaded it for a door - to - door move. I highly recommend this company for any moving you need.

Working with Carmack began well with a competitive estimate, scheduling, and contract finalization. Carmack deferred the pack date by a day, from a Sat to a Sun, which I thought was to my advantage - to have a little more time organize items and prepacked boxes before the pack and load, but in hindsight I'm not so sure. The packers arrived on time and I walked them through the spaces pointing out items that should not be packed. It was not long after packing began that chaos began to take over. With 3-4 packers, in a smaller house it became impossible to keep an eye on each space resulting in items I had specifically asked to not be packed, being packed by the packers including fine art, trash, and items for donation. I'm not even sure the apparent supervisors communicated what I had said in our walk through to the packers. It was clear to me that the packers wanted to finish the job as fast as possible with little care for my possessions. In addition to the indiscriminate grabbing of objects to pack, this was driven home by observing books being thrown into a box across the room from the shelf and the failure to use any padding between a steel hand cart and painted steel file cabinets. The packers didn't finish packing and loading on Sunday, leaving mid afternoon. They said they would return the following morning, indicating that they would bring another truck so they could back up to my garage for loading since a tree branch blocked the big truck. I was not told and little did I know that this other truck would cost me an extra $500 (I considered the branch their oversight since I had walked their rep through all areas and access ways when they came to review the job for an estimate) I had even offered to use my pickup to run boxes to the truck. My items arrived during the agreed time frame but while I had been told Carmack employees would do the unloading, the only employee was the driver. Two local day laborers did the actual unloading. My already troubled sense of the care given to my possessions was only reinforced when the doors of the van opened and unpacking began. In addition to the clear view of much heavier items being on top of lighter less supportive ones - during the unloading I observed crushed heavy duty storage bins, the crushed lid of my chest freezer, and a leg broken off a side table. As I began to unpack and unwrap additional damage and loss revealed itself. Most prominently is a missing back cushion to the sofa in my living room, serving as a daily reminder of my unpleasant experience with Carmack. Having found cushions in boxes from other rooms I searched every box to no avail. Being from Mitchell Gold + Bod Williams, the sofa is not inexpensive and replacement of the cushion is not one-for-one since the current color of the fabric is not exactly the same. There were additional signs that my possessions were treated with little care, from shattered jars of homemade jelly to my best suit being balled up in the top of a wardrobe box. I have filed a claim in late April 2016 for just over $2500 for damages and am waiting since they have 120 days to settle.

It went as planned. They moved a couple of large, special items (grandfather clock, antique desk, several large framed art items), in addition to many heavy and bulky ones (sofa bed, cartons of heavy books) with efficiency and care. We were impressed and pleased with the result. An entire household move with relatively little fuss.
