About us

My name is Thomas O Pollard and I have 40 years of experience in residential construction, I have earned the Super Service Award multiple times providing handyman services in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Louisa, and Fluvanna counties. I am also now a certified Anderson Installer for both windows and doors. I have recently begun specializing in saving both the sellers and buyers significant money on repairs at a fair price after the inspection report has been received. I am the sole proprietor and try to do as much of the work myself as possible so the job is done right the first time and guaranteed! I have 1 full time employee along with others I can call if and when needed due to the job size or outside of my expertise. My goal is to exceed your expectations by being responsive, punctual, professional and clean while I get the job done on time and I will do my best to finish under budget! I will respect you, your home and your budget and guarantee all of my work for 1 year, you have my word!

Tom did an outstanding job of replacing a couple of 20-year-old pressure-treated 6x6 posts for a 2nd story porch that were showing signs of rot. He removed the bad posts, installed new concrete-filled supports, and replaced the posts (including a galvanized metal cap between the concrete & wood). He also straightened a severely-leaning mailbox, securing it with concrete, and even filled in a hole that had mysteriously appeared in our driveway a couple of months ago. The entire project was completed over two days. Throughout the entire effort he kept us constantly apprised of his plans and his progress. And when he and his assistant departed, they left the porch area cleaner than they found it. And the total cost was 25% less than the original estimate.

Thomas Pollard replaced a Front entrance door with side light and a glass sliding door for us. From the first phone call to the completion of the job Tom was very prompt and professional . He responded quickly to every question and concern we had. Tom and his worker Cecil did great work with the installation of the doors , including hauling off debris and clean up . His fee was very reasonable , less than expected . We are very happy and recommend Tom for his good work . We will definitely use him again .

An old-school craftsman in the best way, he has knowledge, common sense, and pride of work that is very rare to find these days -- hire him for all manner of projects and you will have peace of mind. He comes up with creative and skilled solutions for repairs and projects for old homes at a very reasonable and honest price. He is dependable and a man of his word, and he never sees anything as too challenging --he just works the problem. Overall just a pleasure to work with.

I am impressed by the quality of work performed at my house. We bought a house in 2020 at Westlake in Crozeet. We wanted shower doors in our bathrooms and no curtains. Dobson Glass installed a shower door in our basement's bathroom, where the tub is rectangular. But in our guest's room's bathroom, interestingly, the edge of the tub is curved, therefore a round shower door was the only option. Those round doors are available at Home Depot. BUT, NO ENTITY IN THE EXTENDED CHARLOTTESVILLE AREA was interested in the project of installing such a door. In all my online searches, MR. POLLARD IS THE ONLY ONE, who called me, and who was willing to tackled the job. And he, and his team, did a fantastic job. They also repaired a heavy wood mantle over our fire place, which was falling. They fixed it without breaking the marble around it and without any visual marks as to where they put the nails. They performed other repairs around the house to our complete satisfaction. The men were diligent, hard working, polite and professional. We are planning future projects. I would hired Mr. Pollard and his team any time. I highly remommend him.

Extremely well. Very small job that I knew he'd have to fit in amongst others. Just as professional and kind as could be. Refused to charge me for such a simple fix so wound up handing a "tip" to his colleague and asked that he buy himself a beer or buy his wife flowers. Have used before for a much larger job and will use again in the future

This is the second time I have used Tom and his team for a major home update. He removed an old door for us and installed a new sliding glass door. As before, Tom was very professional and responsive throughout, and performed truly 'top-quality' work at a 'top-quality' price. We love our screen door. Tom was extremely responsive at the beginning. He quickly found time to visit my home, was very personable and attentive, then followed up with questions to complete his initial evaluation. Tom set expectations to get back to me within a week, then called me after a week to get one last piece of information. I never heard from Tom after that. I called him and left a voicemail a week after our last conversation, then spaced out a text 3 days later. Still haven't gotten a quote, an apology, or a reason for the delay, almost a month later. Really poor follow up.

Mr. Pollard is very easy to work with. Punctual and professional, good response time and follow up. The work was done by one of his employees. It was well done, promptly on the scheduled date. Everything was cleaned up and left in order. Mr. Pollard agreed to have a couple of electrical receptacles and a light fixture moved while insulating the walls and gable ends of the structure. Beautifully! Mr. Pollard and his team were very professional and were able to fit me into the schedule promptly. He was able to grasp what I was asking for regarding the trim and produce it beautifully. They expected one day of work and it took a little bit longer but did not charge extra. Very attentive to details and removed all debris and waste leaving the site clean. We are very happy and hope to hire Tom again.

Great project. Tom and his team made our front door look just like the Pinterest/Houzz picture we showed them. Great clean up and they hauled away all the previous door parts. I would hire them again for work around the house.

Tom and his team did a great job on installing 4 new doors in our house. He is very knowledgeable and did a good job of communicating what he was doing and why. He kept the workspace clean and worked in a timely way. He was extremely good at coming back out a few months later when the weather changed and the doors needed to be adjusted. He came the next business day and corrected the issue. I definitely recommend Tom and his company.
