Lisa was a superb agent working with us to sell my mother's home. She is a real professional who knows the real estate market in Northern Virginia, is always on top of the many details that go into selling a house, and is always available for her clients. Throughout the process, Lisa was very responsive to our questions and kept us informed every step of the way. The fee for selling the house was the standard 6%, but Lisa included staging services at no additional cost to us.
Even before we signed a contract with Lisa to represent us as sellers, she was extremely helpful in getting the house ready to go on the market. Lisa shared with us potential contractors who could do the necessary work, then shepherded their work on our behalf. The house was beautiful when it went on the market, and sold for full asking price in less than 1 week.
We will definitely use Lisa's services for future real estate needs and highly recommend her to our friends and neighbors.
Her great services continued even after closing. Lisa still responds quickly to our emails and texts, continues to provide recommendations for services, and we continue to stay in touch.
When we decided to take the plunge and start looking for a new home in the Lake Barcroft neighborhood of Falls Church, VA we knew we wanted someone who knew the neighborhood well. We had bought and sold homes before but we knew the Lake Barcroft market was a unique one and we wanted someone who understood the intricacies of the neighborhood. Upon the raving recommendations of our friends and neighbors, we hired Lisa. We knew we wanted to try to buy a lakefront home and knowing how infrequently they came up, we decided to look at a short sale listing: a house that we had looked at earlier in the year, but not considered. Because of Lisa's experience in buying and selling homes, Lisa was able to show us what a wonderful home this truly could be and we decided to go for it. Buying a short sale is never an easy process, but Lisa kept us informed every step of the way, morning and night. She kept us focused and moving forward through all the ups and downs that come with buying a short sale. She worked closely with a title company and the IRS when issues popped up and really pushed to make this deal happen. She also worked closely with our lender to make sure we were on target for closing and kept our lender up-to-date. She made many personal sacrifices to help us get this home. On the day the previous owners were moving out, Lisa was at the house helping them pack and on a day?s notice, she was able to hire a large crew of specialized cleaners to come in and clear the house. Now that we have been in the house, she continues to offer advice and resources.
When it came to selling our home, Lisa was just as impressive. Her background in marketing and her community contacts were extremely helpful in the selling of our home. When you work with Lisa, you have a whole team on your side: Lisa brought in a stager, contractors, and even a professional photographer to help us sell our home; when something needed to be repaired on the house, she got multiple bids from her contractors and negotiated the best prices for us. You can imagine how much time this saved us! Her marketing material, including brochures, postcards, online tours, a dedicated website, and online listings were beautiful and savvy. Because of her hard work and talent, our house was under contract in less than a month at our asking price. While all of that is impressive, what is really remarkable is that Lisa was able to keep our house under contract after the purchase of our new home was delayed. It was a complicated situation, but because of Lisa's stellar negotiation skills and professionalism she was able to make it work.
We love our new home and can't believe how lucky we are. Who knows when or where we will move to next (or if we ever will!), but we know that if we do that Lisa will be our realtor. Lisa is assertive, but not pushy. She knows the market. She's always reachable regardless of hour or day or the week. She was responsive to our never-ending questions and handled the ups and downs with poise and an awesome sense of humor. While we specifically hired Lisa because of her knowledge of Lake Barcroft, we know she is just as knowledgeable of many other homes in the Washington DC area.
The bottom line is if you are buying or selling a home, we recommend hiring Lisa Dubois as your realtor!
Before we met Lisa, we were working with another realtor who was not meeting our needs. I would ask the agent, ?Do you think we could build a garage on this property?? and she would respond, ?Here?s the phone number for the County.? That was just not cutting it.
I mentioned my frustration to a friend and he said ?You need Lisa!? He was right.
When we would ask Lisa a question like that, her response would be something like ?I thought you might ask that so I researched the zoning laws and here?s what I found. Also, I reached out to a contractor I work with and he estimates that it will cost ____ for you to build what you?re looking for.?
Time and time again we were impressed with her thoroughness and her attention to details. It was so refreshing. Other times, Lisa impressed us by having already previewed houses before taking us by (without us asking). I don?t think many realtors take the time to do that.
Where Lisa really earned my praise, in my opinion, is what I call the ?counseling? part of her job. To make a long story short, my husband and I were not exactly on the same page concerning a comfortable price point. Not an uncommon problem, I'm sure. We found a house that we loved but the price was higher than we wanted. Lisa gently worked with us to get us to reach an agreement. We offered a lower price and after several rounds of offers and counteroffers, we got the house that we both loved for a price that we were comfortable with.
In an effort to provide a balanced review, I will say that if I had a criticism of Lisa it would be that she is very busy. I was somewhat (okay, very) type-A in my home search and I would find a house online and want to go see it immediately. Lisa was always responsive, and always made time, it just wasn?t always immediately or at the exact time that I wanted. I really can?t fault her for that. She does have many clients.
Go with Lisa. You won?t be sorry.
