When I called for an estimate someone came out that same day to meet with me and then provided a written estimate via email by that evening. It took a 3 - 4 weeks to schedule the job due to the rain but once the scheduled the job a team of painters came in the morning and completed the entire job in one day. The crew was very professional and cleaned up everything when they were done. They were responsive to a couple touch-ups that I asked for afterwards and got them done quickly. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend this company to my friends and neighbors.

Finding a good contractor is a very stressful activity, so I joined Angie's List. I was surprised to find I could find a contractor there to perform a limited service such as power washing. Blue Door was the first company I read about on Angies List, so I called them and they responded fast. They took the time to make sure we were communicating well and they did what they said they would do and in the time frame we agreed on. So far using Angies List has been a positive experience.

Someone from Blue Doors came to look at the work that needed to be done, and took pictures. They were good at being very specific and detailed about exactly what they would do and would not do (how many doors and windows needed painting, what they could fix and what they could not). The quote I received was also very professional, with details and specifics (number of coats of paint, etc...). Price was also very competitive. However, I chose not to go with them because they took the longest in getting back to me with a quote. I had to call them several times to get someone to come to the house to give me a quote, and after that, I had to follow up with them to send me a the formal quote through e-mail. While others had given me a quote on the spot, they e-mailed me the quote the following day. Besides that (lack of responsiveness), I would consider going to them again for future work.

Our experience with Blue Door Painters was great, all the way from the bid process to the final product. Jeff from BDP came out to our house promptly after we contacted them for a bid. They took their time walking around the entire house, and provided us with a bid within a day of previewing the job. He provided us with a bid for the initial job, and per our request, also provided us with some alternative bids in case we wanted more/less done. Blue Door Painters scheduled the job during the month of April, per our request, and showed up promptly on the day the job was to begin. They power washed the house and completed all the painting in the same day, and did a fantastic job. They also did a great job of matching the old paint color we already had on certain parts of the house (since we weren't getting the entire house repainted). Blue Door Painters exceeded our expectations and we will definitely use them again in the future.

Blue Door Painters were excellent from start to finish. The estimator, Debbie, was extremely friendly and spent quite awhile taking pictures of the house so that the painters would know exactly what was involved. She also offered to help with paint colors and went out of her way to check out similar homes in our neighborhood and suggest various paint color options. We ended up needing to push back our start date and, Jeff, happily accommodated our request. The painting crew, headed up by Carlos, were PHENOMENAL. They were professional, friendly, tidy and did not mind me constanty looking over their shoulders. Carlos repeatedly confirmed color choices and made some suggestions that ended up making the house look even better! The painters never cut corners and made sure the job was done right again and again. Our new shutters had not arrived by the time the painting was complete. Despite having to come back out a week later, Jeff sent out a small crew to replace our shutters once they arrived. The house looks amazing thanks to Blue Door Painters.

Very positive experience. Blue Door immediately responded to our inquiry for a price estimate. The staff was pleasant and professional. It took about four days for their written estimate to arrive by e-mail. The price estimate was very fair, though it was initially unclear if they had applied the advertised Angie's List discount. About two days after sending in our deposit check, we received a call asking about the scheduling of the job. This was suprisingly fast. The painting crew arrived a few days later. They were very polite and professional. They took care around the house and appeared to take pride in their work. They cleaned-up after the first day and left the yard free of any ladders/tools/etc. The painting job was done very nicely. No drips or runs. They took care to match the color of our front door to our shutters (which were not being painted). The entire job took about 1 1/2 days. A week or so after they had finished, we got an e-mail with the invoice attached and a message urging us to contact Blue Door if we had any problems or concerns. This was a good experience all the way around. We chose Blue Door largely because of their Angie's List rating and their competitive price. I would definitley recommend Blue Door and will certainly use them again when the need arises.

My experience with them was fine. They had the best price, and that is why I chose them. I didn’t have to wait for them at all. I was satisfied with their work too as it was of good quality. I was very happy with them overall.

Professional at all times from the estimate to completion. Each person I talked to introduced themselves and their role in the project. They were very responsive to changes I requested while on the job. Clean-up was perfect and the foreman Carlos even repainted my front steps and door at no charge when I changed my mind about the colors. I plan on hiring them soon to paint my basement.

They had a large and very nice portfolio on the work they had done. They came in with an estimate that was lower than two other estimates that I had received. They came when they were supposed to come, right on the dot, and they worked all day long until around 6, I think. I thought that the price was very reasonable for what they did, particularly the danger of the work. They had to use ladders for all of this work except for one window sill. They had to go up to the third floor to get one of the doors. I am very happy with the work that they did for me.

I had a great experience with this company. Jeff and Carlos were responsive and prompt. Their quote was very reasonable and much lower than others. They were also willing to change colors and fix things to match my vision for the house! I was out of town for part of the job and they emailed me pictures to make sure we were on track. I would definitely use them again.

Great! A representative came out from the company and walked around the home with us and asked detailed questions regarding the job to be done. We received the estimate the following day. Once we decided to work with Blue Door Painters we still needed to choose a color for the home and they were patient with us to give us the time we needed. Once we choose the color, they arranged to paint the home within two days. The entire job took a team of four painters two very long days to complete. They worked hard and only stopped for lunch. A couple people in the neighborhood even admired the work and plan to have the Blur Door Painters complete some painting projects on their own homes.

I selected Blue Door from Angie’s List based on their Arlington location and their good reviews. Blue Door was able to send an estimator on the date I requested. He arrived on time and he walked the house with me and took notes. He gave me a book of before/after pictures to review while he did another, more thorough, inspection and took pictures. The estimate was received via email the same day; it captured all the key points about exactly which services were to be done, the different types of paint that I wanted -- sealant, porch stain, and paint. For basic carpentry/wood repair, they quote a fixed price per board, rather than T&M. Their standard is Duron paint but they were willing to purchase the brand of porch stain that I had used previously. 2 year warranty. After notifying Blue Door that I would like them to do the work, I had a contract the next day. Nice touch: When they mailed the contract, they included 2 self addressed and stamped envelopes… I used one to return the signed contract/initial payment and the other to send in the final check. Blue Door notified me they could start sooner than originally estimated, and wanted to begin the next day. Because I wanted to be present for the power-washing and since I wasn’t able to re-arrange my work schedule on such short notice, I had to push a bit to get them to agree to start on Saturday instead. I realize that exterior painting is dependent on weather and they often have to juggle schedules, but I need to meet everyone who works on my house. A father/son team came on Saturday to begin the work and after that initial meeting I was very comfortable with having them work on my home. The work was completed in 2.5 days. I found two small areas that I felt could have been done better and Blue Door sent someone over in just a few days to fix them. Overall I was pleased with the results and will use Blue Door again.

Good. I'm a bit of a do-it-myself type so I tend to look at projects like these from the perspective of "am I glad I paid someone else do it or do I wish I'd gone ahead and done it myself." In this case, I'm glad I paid Blue Door to paint the house and they did a better job than I would have been able to do. Clean-up could have been better and there was some minor damage to the landscaping but from my perspective that's only a couple of hours work on my part vs. the many weekends I would have lost painting the house myself (and still sending paint chips everywhere and still causing some damage to the landscaping).

Five crew members arrived first thing Saturday morning at about 9am. A little confusion occurred at the beginning as the crew leader did not appear to know the brand of paint that I had previously specified for the job (he had to consequently drive to a paint store to get the paint) and appeared to be a little uncertain about what work needed to be done (perhaps they were just confirming the work that had to be done). After that little bit of confusion, however, the crew worked very hard all day performing the services above with only about a 15-30 minute break for lunch. They worked until about 7pm and cleaned up neatly afterward. Since the work was not complete, a two man crew came back on Monday to complete the job. The arrived early in the morning and finished about 4pm. The quality of the work was very precise and very good. They were also very professional.

The painters arrived and after a quick walk around, got right to work. Our home is not large and the work did not include the siding, extensive scrapping or replacement of wood rot, so it was completed in approximately 10 hours. The five man crew worked efficiently and clearly they all work well together and during lunch there were several bursts of laughter, so the moral is good. This, IMO, contributes to the quality, which was very high. The foreman was conscientious and made it a point to walk with me and inspect the entire job to be sure I was satisfied before leaving. The crew worked all the windows before leaving. (When we purchased the house, the windows had been painted shut and it took weeks to get them all unstuck.) The only downside, was we had to leave the window opened to finish drying overnight, which would not have been an issue if it hadn't been the hottest day of the year. Next time we'll plan to have the house painted in either spring or fall.

Very professional from the estimate to the work! They arrived on time and did an excellent job. Carlos and his team were very polite and courteous. We would definitely consider Blue Door Painters when we decide to paint the interior of the townhouse. Their estimate was right on. No surprises and no hidden charges.

I called on Tuesday and explained that I was having a party on Sat night and had just decided to have the terrace cleaned. They sent someone that afternoon to assess the job and provided an estimate. The work was done on Friday and I was thrilled with the results. They were very accommodating about providing someone to do the work in such a short time. They also gave me an estimate for some outside painting that I plan to have done in Sept.

We replaced the wood siding and trim on 2 sides of our end unit, 2-level townhouse and needed a company to prime and paint it. We called 3 companies with good ratings here on Angie's List. Blue Door quoted us $1,925, another company's quote was 50% higher and the third company couldn't get out in a timely fashion to give us a quote. We were so impressed with Blue Door's price and professionalism that we didn't bother to find another company to give us a quote we went with Blue Door. Blue Door's crew was professional and pleasant. They came out as soon as possible after the siding was installed and they did excellent work. They even did touch ups on the third side of our house, which we had painted on our own last year. Our house looks great. We'd definitely hire them again.
