Welcome to the original Ace Deck & Fence. We are a Virginia based deck and fence and patio builder servicing Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Ace Deck & Fence is your designer and contractor wrapped into one which allows our customers to have a smoother experience from start to finish. With in house CAD design, we are able to create blue prints to handle all permits for custom deck and fence projects. This is the second larger project I have used with Ace Deck and Fence for. From start to finish they were professional, timely, tidy when they worked. Also for anyone who owns a house, made the process the least stressful I have come across in my time of ownership. Projects were completed in very good time and always without schedule changes, and staff knew exactly what was to be done. In fact they even managed to accommodate me and get the second one done early as it was an old fence in bad shape and falling down. Their materials have stood the test of time as one project was 6 years ago and still looks great!!
Furthermore they treat customers as customers for life. On the second project, fixing a small manageable tweak in a gate from the first project, and have answered any questions I have had about anything long after the projects were complete.
I would highly recommend this company if you were looking for great service, fair price, and quality finished job! My Neighbors even used them to redo their deck after seeing the job on my first house project the Deck.

The project was done in the midst of the busy season and we were waiting a bit longer then usual on the special order Western Cedar and the custom lattice 4x8 screens. Once those arrived we were able to get everything installed within a matter of a couple of days. For the deck, they helped me get to a design that I was happy with and would maximize my space. Once permits were approved I was amazed at how quickly it went up. The finished product is gorgeous and I'm very happy with it.
For our driveway, we had drainage issues which caused rainwater pooling next to our house. Ace regraded and laid a new concrete driveway, and installed the proper drainage so we no longer have any standing water. Again, this work was done very quickly (a few days), and included demo of the old driveway!
The 6ft privacy shadowbox wood fence also went up very quickly, within a day or two. It looks great and was a very straightforward project. We also had a matching gate put in after the driveway was installed which looks perfect with the fence.
Ace is a very easy company to work with - their quality is top notch (you get what you pay for) and they do the work very quickly. The only constructive criticism I would say is that they don't focus too much on tiny details (that someone like me loves) - for example I was a little particular about the gate hardware, which they kind of ignored at the first pass and I had to buy myself. In the end I don't think we even ended up using what I bought. I also like to communicate in detail over email which is not really how they work. They are more about agreeing to a big scope of work and getting the work done well and quickly, period. So just know little details you want in advance of starting the project and make sure it's agreed on from the start.
"Glad we were able to assist our customer with a brand new fence, full PVC TimberTech Deck, & a New driveway and entry gate into the back yard. The customer was looking for a specific hardware that our vendor did not sell in store but we gave the customer the brand name and she found a hardware set that she liked and we approved for install. We usually install a specific brand/ model of thumb latch and hinges that we know work well. The latch and hinges were suppose to be left by the customer at the back steps near the other fence materials as the old driveway was excavated and the new driveway was formed, drain pipes added, and poured. Once the drive was completed and allowed about 7 days to dry our fence team arrived to install the gate and fencing along the new driveway. No other hardware was found on site and so they had to install the standard hardware we usually install. We checked with the crew and on our trucks and found no other hardware nor on site. Its possible they may have been hauled away with the demo or fell into the driveway demo and apologize for this."
Ali Farzad came to the house to assess the existing deck and provide an estimate. He explained some of the options, showed us samples of different materials available, discussed how he would go about the job, answered our questions, and took very careful measurements as a basis for his estimate.
We got three estimates for the work; ACE was not the least expensive, but we found Mr. Farzad's whole manner projected competence, thoroughness, and honesty. He was specific about how the job would proceed, warned of possible pitfalls, and seemed to us to have a good understanding of what we wanted. He offered recommendations on materials but was not insistent that we use one particular product, and readily accepted our choice of different items. As a bonus, he offered to do a side job - fixing a section of leaning fence - at no extra charge. I might add that throughout the project, he was always available to answer questions, make adjustments, and the like.
Contract signed, we got an estimated start date - weather, as I recall, delayed that by a couple of days, but basically, the team - Kelvin, Pedro, and Patricio - arrived on the appointed day to begin tearing out the old decking. Throughout the project, which took the better part of two weeks, we found these three fellows (as well as Hernan, co-owner and engineer, who made the decisions about where repairs or additions to the existing framing were required) really knew their stuff.
One of the difficult things about our deck (besides the size) was that it surrounds a sunroom, so there were some specific challenges of meshing the two structures. The ACE team always came up with solid, inventive solutions. They also showed considerable skill in working out unusual requirements, like our desire to have a section of railing built double-wide, with a structural beam above to enable hanging plants. This presented a problem since the composite board isn't structural, but they produced a very good result. (see photo)..
The job was completed within the specified time frame, beginning May 26 and finishing June 11, with one or two days skipped due to rain.. One or two small punchlist items remained uncompleted for a while but they were minor items that didn't prevent us from using/enjoying the deck.
Subsequently, ACE also completed the work I mentioned above on straightening up my tilting fence; they replaced a gatesill and two heavy posts on either side of the gate, even adding fresh latch hardware, so we were very satisfied with that part of the job too. We will probably call on them for some other fence work we're considering..
"Very Happy we were able to help our customer out with this project. It turned out perfect. The color combinations of the decking and railings were really nice and the finished product is just great. We had some custom work to do in several parts of the deck & the team did great figuring it all out. We let our customers know pros and cons of certain products and materials and provide them several options so they feel most comfortable with what will be built for them. Our job is always to work with our customers and build them a great end product. There were a few small trim items left at the end of the project and the customer was flexible with us to finish up those touches when time allowed. We really enjoyed this fun project and enjoyed our good conversations with our customer as well. We look forward to working with them again in the future."
"This is an error as we clearly do not service the Gainsville area as it is way out of our service range and customer would have been told this immediately and we are currently 3 weeks out on new estimates so we would not be scheduling anything a week out. Angies List has also been made aware of this error."
"We apologize there was a delay in the estimator trying to get their. Since it was the first day of school all of the estimators were delayed on all estimates throughout the day due to the extra traffic. Our office manager Angelika is on vacation and our temp was running permits in DCRA. We have a virtual office as an additional back up. The phone number was also off by one digit so that is why the customer could not be reached by phone when we tried. Once one of the owners was aware of the delay he reached out to the customer ASAP by email as that was our only way to reach out. We did so and started communication with the customer ASAP and he provided all info on the project and one of the owners responded back with a detailed proposal of the project and all permit pricing and info. Ace Deck & Fence even extended a $200 discount due to the estimator not arriving in the time window and we also offered an additional $300 off on the deck permit for a total of a $500 savings. As a company we do our best to take care of each estimate . Between all of our estimators we run almost 70 to 80 estimates a week and unfortunately every once in a while things dont go as planned. We have had an "A" rated reputation for 7 years in a row and its because of the understanding that sometimes things happen but we always respond and handle things professionally and make it up to our customers. But the customer had already rated us an F before we even had a chance to let him know what was going on. We will always continue to strive to make improvements in the estimating system and communications. If the customer would still like to work something out for his project we are here to assist."
The fence looks great. A couple of other contractors who do fences have been in my yard before and since and have voluntarily said that they did a great job.
The lack of communication from the company before starting was a drawback--coming home to find the fence removed without notice was work was a bit of a shock. A plant or two in the flower beds got killed from being stepped on or covered in clay. And despite efforts, the final rubble/blocks were never removed from my yard. But these are pretty small complaints over a project generally well done.

After scheduling an estimate, Ali arrived on time, provided a far more detailed estimate than any of the other companies I had contacted (or his other competitors who came out and did not even provide an estimate, but I digress). Within 24 hours, Ali had emailed a detailed layout and plan for the project, included an estimate for each line item of the project. This included all of the permitting with DC gov't, materials, detailed descriptions of the work to be performed, etc.
Ali and his team begun work after the contract was signed and ensured the project moved along smoothly to completion. I have received numerous compliments from neighbors, friends and family. I'd definitely recommend Ace Deck & Fence!

The material was delivered the evening before and placed discretely where requested. The crew arrived on time the next morning and completed the task within one day. It was a painless process for the homeowner and the neighbors whose lot adjoins ours appreciated the result. The office staff coordinating the work could not have been more helpful.

We had a wonderful experience working with Ace Deck & Fence to install a new fence and garden shed in our back yard. Can?t say enough great things about Ali and his team! Early in the process Ali came out to see the property and develop an estimate. He had some great ideas for the fence and shed, including building a small semi-enclosed space at the rear of our yard to keep our recycling and trash bins out of the way. Once we agreed on a plan, the folks from Ace took care of all of the permitting with Arlington county and working with Miss Utility. Ali?s team arrived on a Friday morning and had the old fence down and the new fence up in a matter of hours. They started building the custom shed later that afternoon and came back on Saturday morning to finish the shed and make some minor adjustments to the fence gates. The team was fast, skilled, and courteous ? couldn?t ask for more. And the price was more than reasonable. I would highly recommend the team at Ace Fence!

- We had an electronic gate put in last year as our (very) old gate had been hit - as in hit and run type with no note left but clear that a large truck or something had backed into it. The gate was so old that parts were no longer available. It occured to my husband that we might be able to have the cost of the gate covered by our insurance and ask Ali to write a letter describing the reason for a new rather than repaired gate, he promptly provided this. Then the company contacted him and ran in through a whole litany of questions which as I understand from Ali took at least 15 minutes or more on the telephone and which Ali assured me he was more than pleased to provide.
