Description of Work: My cat was extremely ill, stopped eating and drinking for almost 4 days and was in real danger of dying. I took him to the emergecny room, they kept him for a day, ran a ton of tests (blood, untrasound, and other tests)and identifyed problems (spleen and other issues), corrected it and he bagan eating and drinking again. The cat is healthy again.

Description of Work: The situation actually happened on 12/25/2007. My dog was taken to the hospital for an emergency. She was 18.5 years old. Before being told the diagnosis, I was questioned on whether the dog had ever been to a vet on a regular basis (I think bringing a dog that old into the hospital should have proven the question should have never been asked). After I answered, I was told that my dog had bloats. I was given information on the condition by the vet on duty and it explained how it happens in young dogs 2 years or less. I kept asking why would it happen in an old dog. The vet replied "All you need to do is know there's a diagnosis and you need to make a decision" She kept trying to point me in the direction of major surgery and told me the dog would be fine with anesthesia (I questioned that due to the age of the dog). I was still contemplating the shock of what was going on and then the vet stated "Let me explain this in cop/fireman language, you have a bomb ticking and need to do something about it before it blows." I may not have taken too much offense to that comment however, I am a career police officer in washington dc. I tried to make a complaint on the professionalism of the vet on duty the next day and the office manager wasn't even concerned. I would NEVER take any member of my family to that place again. I found out later that this particular vet has a reputation of being very patronizing. It has taken me almost 7 years to write this review in a manner that keeps my emotion out of it. I may never have written a review if the vet I dealt with didn't still work there.

Description of Work: We thought our cat swallowed a nail and took him to their after hours. The staff was very responsive and quick to get him examined. We lucked out that he ate something else. It's expensive, but the price was worth it.

Description of Work: I took my cat here for surgery; but upon reviewing the X-rays, the surgeon called me and recommended an alternate procedure. She saved me some money and my cat's life. After the surgery when I thought the sutures were opening, I took her back for an emergency visit. The vet on duty assured me everything was ok - and they did not even charge me for the emergency visit (we were there less than 10 minutes). Everyone here is very professional, kind, and really love animals. The 24 hour availability is a great benefit.

Description of Work: The cost quoted above is for my cat's regular yearly checkup, but they have been my veterinarian for 3 years now. They're always professional and extremely friendly from the moment you walk in. During my first visit, they had a vet tech there during the exam so they could get a read on whether or not my cat was a "difficult case" (requiring an extra set of hands). My cat gets her regular checkups, yearly dental cleaning, and visits them when she's sick. I've also boarded my cat there before, and although she comes home a little lonely, I can tell she's been taken good care of. They have a 24/7 emergency department that's fully staffed. This came in very handy when my cat got a nasty cut which required staples. The staff who answers the phones are always very friendly and knowledgeable. It's also very easy to get an appointment on short notice, although Saturday appointments book up quickly. I'd highly recommend them to anyone!
