They were professional, reliable, dependable, always help you and during Covid they made arrangements to help protect me. They were great.

They tried to STEAL money from my sister. Very dishonest and only out to make as much money as possible!!! I was talking with management about fixing my highlights. I got a second opinion about the services I had done on my hair and they recommended that I return to the salon and see if they could fix it. I called Sugar House and one of the managers insisted that I come in and have another one of their staff see what they can do. I paid $355 for the first step into blonde and a haircut. I did a lot of research and wanted to do a balayage first so the hair would still look good during the process. I instead got brass highlights that you can barely tell I have only a few shades lighter. My sister called them and offered to pay whatever to have my hair fixed for my birthday. I told her no way, and I called Sugar House back to cancel my appointment because I refuse to spend anymore money for their services after spending so much before. She assured me that "it would be taken care of" and insisted again that I come in to have my consultation. I thought they were trying to make things right. My sister calls me 30 minutes later because they called and asked for her card information for my appointment on Monday. That is stealing! Julia, the manager knew I would not return if i was going to be charged and told me that "it would be taken care of" to get me in the door so she can charge my sister behind my back! People should be aware that this establishment has no problem with trying to steal from their customers. Now I am looking for a new salon because I have only used them for over two years. The attached photos are the finished product and what I wanted to have done.

I will never go back here again.  I made an appointment for a gel fill -- it is on their menu of services.  The woman who was supposed to do it kept me sitting waiting for her for 15 minutes and when i finally was brought to her station, she told me she didn't have time to do a gel fill.  she said that instead she would remove polish, file and put a new coat on.  That was not what I went there to have done.  She explained to me that they don't use electric implements and it is 'hard work' to do a gel fill without using electric files, etc.  If it is so difficult to do, they should remove the service from the menu.  She also repeatedly got up from her station and went to talk to someone in the massage room -- not once or twice, but half dozen times.  From the minut i waled in the door, the staff at the reception desk was not welcoming, did not say hello, and when i asked where the manicure stations were, they pointed to a flight of stairs.  When i was checking out, there was a dissatisfied hair salon client in line and she was screaming at the cashier AND the cashier was screaming back at her.  I will NEVER recommend this place or return.

Massage and pedicure. That's about it, but very professional...there was one other guy there even though this is clearly mainly a gals place.  I'd go back again, even though I'm not much of spa or massage guy.  I don't know cost because if was a gift

I have been a customer of Sugar House for several years and have always found the services to be the best, regardless if I use the salon or spa. Every staff member is very professional, their products are great and I would not hesitate to recommend a Sugar House Service

I would discourage any future bride from using this spa for their extremely poor customer service. On a day that's often stressful, a good salon should help soothe frayed nerves, resolve any problems as smoothly as possible, and help the bridal party feel good in the hours before the wedding. Our bridal party's experience was the exact opposite.
The spa was able to add my wife's bridal party onto its schedule on fairly short notice after another provider unexpectedly cancelled. My wife and I were both present with the bridal coordinator to review all the pricing and to confirm all the service for the bridal party, and an expedited trial session for my wife. The bridal coordinator instructed for the bridesmaids not to wash their hair, as this would be done on the wedding day.
The bridal coordinator was professional, thorough and responsive to all our questions before the wedding. While we knew she would not be at the spa on the day of our wedding, in hindsight it would have been extremely helpful if she had been given the problems we had with hair stylists.
When my wife went for her trial session, she arrived on time but was delayed finding parking, so she did not sit with the stylist until ten minutes after her appointment. The staff reprimanded her for being late, and while my wife was stressed by these comments, she understood that they were concerned by her late arrival.
On the day of the wedding, the the stylist who worked on my wife's hairdo critiqued the job that my wife had done washing her hair, rather than simply offering to re-wash it. The stylists who worked on the two bridesmaids rudely asked them why they had not washed their hair before arriving, even though the coordinator had given written instructions that they not wash their hair. The quality of one of the stylings was so poor that one bridesmaid went home and re-styled the hair herself.
My wife was in tears at the treatment that she and her friends received. She asked for a manager, but the manager never met with her. Ultimately she and the bridal party had to leave and continue their wedding preparations.
On a positive note, my wife and my mother-in-law were both extremely pleased with the airbrush makeup artist. She was professional, kind and both women looked wonderful.
I returned to the spa the week after our wedding to ask to speak to the wedding coordinator, who was not working on that date. The manager on staff heard my concerns and said she would pass them to the coordinator, but we never had a follow-up. This was the worst experience of our wedding day, and one for which we paid a significant sum of money.

Color, highlights, cut, eyebrow tinting and wax. Services are good, but expensive, and they can't seem to keep the appointment schedule straight. I even tried standing appointments, but it was always a mess. After a couple of years I switched to another salon for convenience and peace of mind that my stylist would actually be available when I scheduled my appointment.

Everything went well. The person who answered the phone was polite and helpful in getting us seen promptly. The woman who cut his hair was attentive and did a super job touching up his hair and saving him.

negatives: I am a new client and they were a little confused finding my stylist / appointment and had me wait for a few minutes. I also found the salon to be quite warm throughout my visit.
positives: The stylist listened carefully to what I wanted to have done and did a very fine job with the exception that the color is a bit darker than I expected. However, they do not use the exact products which I have used in the past so I expected some small changes. I believe as she works with my hair we will be able to adjust to exactly what I want in future as I am accustomed to having my hair slightly lighter in the summer and darker in the winter.
I was asked many times by multiple employees if I would like something to drink (coffee, tea, water, etc) and they were quite careful to wrap up my neck so that no product dripped anywhere. The shampooist was quite good.
The only complaint I would have is that it was quite busy (it being a Friday) and I was asked to move from the shampoo station to a waiting room while conditioner was in my hair in order to make room for other clients. It was not as relaxing an experience as I have had before but that is not enough to keep me from coming back. Perhaps another day would bring a different tempo.

I was a new client at this spa but had been only moderately satisfied with the local competition so was shopping around for a new stylist. It was easy to find and I quickly found pay parking directly across the street from the door. Great space, upscale feel when you walk in the door, no complaints with atmosphere. I saw Elaine to get a healthy trim and restyle my angled bob to up the funky factor in the back, etc. She really listened to my requests and asked questions until she understood what I was describing since I clearly don't know their technical lingo. She wasn't rushed with me but the salon was bustling. She was interested in my background, what I don't love about prior cuts, what salons I've tried, etc. As a sales person and business person in a completely unrelated industry I was really impressed by this. It may seem obvious to ask these questions but almost no one actually does so. She was great with building rapport and I felt like she wanted to earn my loyalty as a client. She recommended products without being remotely pushy. Pricing to me seemed about right for the experience and location, I definitely wouldn't say it's overpriced compared to similar places nearby. Other patrons raved about my cut even as I was walking out the door!

Excellent experience - my schedule is unpredictable and I can rarely schedule things in advance. I was able to book a treatment for the same day I was calling on (a Saturday nonetheless). Everyone was very friendly and although I was about 15 mins late due to event traffic, they still performed the entire service. I was very satisfied from start to finish. The cost for the service was very reasonable and the products as well, which they offer a very wide variety of items.

My experience at the day spa was fine: I was taken on time, the surroundings were pleasant, and I enjoyed the services I received. When I checked out, the problems started. I presented the gift card and was told that I the SH system indicated I also had a $90 credit from a previous visit. I explained that I'd never been to SH before, so I couldn't have a credit. The person at the desk peered at the computer screen and concluded that the $90 credit must belong to another customer with the same first and last name [I have a relatively common last name; the spelling of my first name is less common but not rare]. To differentiate us, she amended my entry in the SH system to include my middle initial.

My gift card was swiped. I wanted to give the personnel who'd provided my services a 20% tip. Since the gift card didn't have sufficient value to cover this, I used my Amex card to pay the difference, and was on my way.

A few hours later, someone from SH called me at home and told me that I'd failed to check out. I was, to put it mildly, very surprised. I explained that I'd used a gift card to pay for the services and my Amex card to pay the balance. The SH rep then insisted that I describe in detail the gift card I was claiming to have redeemed. I told her that SH should have the number in its records, since I'd provided it when I booked the appointment. I also advised her that I'd surrendered the card when I'd checked out [it had a zero balance after I redeemed it]. I told her that SH needed to check its records -- they should not be making a call like this to a customer without being 100% sure that there hadn't been an error on the part of the staffer who'd checked me out.

I'm still amazed at the way that SH personnel handled this situation. Not only was I falsely accused, but I never received an apology from SH. I'll never go back.

The other reviews SH are positive, and the spa aspect of my experience was positive as well. But I've factored in the problem I encountered redeeming my gift card in my overall review. Spa experiences are supposed to be a relaxing treat, and I've often given spa gift cards to friends or family who were going through a dificult time and in need of some pampering, or celebrating a special occasion. I'm sharing my experience so that others who receive, or are considering giving, a gift card are aware of potential difficilties when it comes time to redeem the card -- redeeming mine definitely definitely was not a and quot;sweet treatand quot;

I called and made an appointment for a gel fill. It is on their menu of services. The individual at the appointment desk assured me that the person she booked me with did indeed do gel fills. I arrived on time, walked in, three young ladies at the desk looked at me, said nothing. No greeting, nothing. I told them I had a nail appointment with so and so, and one of them pointed to the stair case. I went upstairs to a waiting area, but still had no clue as to where I should go next or where the technician who would do my nails was. I was not offered a glass of water or anything. I am accustomed to being offered at the very least a glass of water when I go to a nail appt. I sat and waited. After about 10 minutes, a technician came out and called my name. She pointed to her station.....they do a lot of pointing here apparently. She looked at my nails, and told me I needed a fill. I told her that is what I had made an appointment for. She points to the appointment screen on the computer (more pointing) and tells me that she cannot do anything with gels since the salon does not use electric implements. I told her that I had specifically asked when I made the appointment and I was assured after reading on their services list, that they did Indeed do gel fills. She shook her head, said she didn't have time to do it and that it was tiring to do a gel fill by hand....i.e., without electric implements. I asked her then why an appointment was made for that service with her, and did the appointment desk know that this particular service fatigued her so that they shouldn't bother her by scheduling them.....which was a waste of my breath. She said she had enough time to do a quick polish change which I agreed to since I had to go out that evening and did not have time to drive around in 95+ degree temps looking for a nail salon. She got up and left her station no less than four times during the polish change.....disappeared, no explanation, then she would return. I went downstairs and waited in line while another guest complained about something to one of the mannequins behind the desk. I paid my bill. No one asked if I was satisfied, did I want to make another appointment. Having become accustomed to amazing guest service at Red Door Spa in Reston, Four Seasons Nail Salon in Oakton, and most recently and happily at Solace Day Spa in Alexandria, I can only say that I would not only ever return to Sugar House, I would never recommend them. They have no clue as to treat their guests, they were rude in my opinion, and the entire experience was unsatisfactory.

Sugar House Day Spa and Salon

Sugar House Day Spa and Salon, services (facial and pedicure) were excellent! The technician, that did my facial really stressed me out because, she kept talking about her personal problems and I walked out of there feeling terrible, it was suppose to relax you but, she made me so stressed. Then I went to get my pedicure and that women was wonderful. There was too much on a personal level there. One technician, was outstanding, and the other on did a great job but, I felt like she unloaded her problems on me. It is expensive and I would go back but, I would ask for a certain technician.

I was warmly welcomed at the door and was promptly escorted to the changing/lounge area to prep for my facial. I was given a very nice fluffy, warm robe and was then instructed to a quiet sitting area where I was offered refreshment while I waited. The wait was short and we started my facial appointment on time. The facialist was very courteous, knowledgable and kind throughout the entire spa experience. I trust the experience, quality and cleanliness of this spa.

I have been seeing the same stylist for 3 years and don't have the easiest hair to deal with, it is very fine. They do a great job at figuring out what to do with my hair to find out what looks good on me and they experiment with color. It is always a pleasant experience. I haven't used the spa facilities, but everyone that uses it seems to enjoy it. The service I receive is excellent.
