Their estimate was almost the double of another estimate that I got from someone else. It was a free estimate. They quoted about 615 to put the top gutter on. I have a company that's going to put the gutter and downspout for $300. The people were very nice, courteous and polite. I thought that they were a little bit exorbitant for what I was asking. It wasn't like I was asking for a miracle which is like a 40 foot gutter. They were very, very prompt. They told the time that they were going to be here and they did show up to provide the estimate. Overall, my experience was good. They did respond very quickly when I sent the e-mails to them. I would possibly use them for another estimate in the future.

It took some time to get an estimate and then someone out to actually do the job. An estimate was provided on 11/2 and the job was completed a month later. I inspected afterwords and they did an excellent job.
Description of Work: Fabricated and installed aluminum capping on four rear projecting windows where a leak was suspected (and later confirmed). Reworked shingles around windows so no need to purchase additional ones.

The gentleman began by answering with a rude tone. When I asked him about a free estimate, he acted as if he did not want to do it. I thought I would save him the time and not even get the estimate.

It took a week for them to get around to us for an estimate. The estimator arrived late for the appointment, The estimate was for $1110, worse yet the estimator tried to scare my wife into an additional $1000 for unnecessary work. I think they are just trolling for clueless customers who have no idea what a job should cost. Ultimately, the job was given to and promptly completed by Cole Roofing for $230. Cole carefully checked the rest of the roof and found it to be in fine shape.
Description of Work: The job was to reattach about a half dozen loose slates on our roof.

They responded promptly to request for estimated; phoned ahead when they were enroiute and arrived as scheduled. I was given a thorough explanation of the condition of the roof and various options. The supervisor, (J.C.) answered all questions patiently and explained how the work would be done. I received an estimate by email later the same day. I received three estimates and after 10 days called Springfield and accepted their offer. (Their price was in the middle.) They planned to complete the work in 2-3 weeks, but unexpected rains forced the schedule to slip. The job was completed in one long day (Oct 25). One of their staff came out again (31 Oct) --after I had paid the bill -- and went back on the roof to innspect and touch up the paint on vent pipes with rustoleum. My only suggestion is that once the contract is signed, they make a bit more effort to keep the customer informed about when the ordered materials arrive, where they stand in the queue, etc. It takes a bit of extra time to send an occasional email or leave a phone message with the status, but I think most customers really appreciate it. Overall I was quite pleased and would recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: Thorough examination of existing roof, inside and outside. (It was about 17-18 years old.) Repaced all plywood underlay with 1/2" CDX plywood and reshingled with Certainteed 25-year shingles. Installed new flashings, new vent pipe cdollars; new ice and water shield, e.

gutter repair

During a March storm, one of the gutters on my two-story house was torn loose. It banged against the house because a number of the long nails (spikes) had been dislodged. I checked Angie's list and found a highly-rated company, Springfield Roofing, Siding & Windows, Inc., located nearby. I left an e-mail message on the companies web-site on the weekend but followed up with a telephone call when I received no response. The first appointment with Paul, the estimator, was on short notice and he was on time. Paul advised me against having the gutter repaired because the spikes could easily be dislodged again. Since I had been considering replacing the dirty looking, constantly over-flowing gutters within a year or two anyway, I was receptive to the idea of replacing all the gutters with the type Paul described that were attached to the house with hidden screws rather than spikes. In light of the high ratings Springfield Roofing had on Angie’s List, I decided to dispense with my normal practice of obtaining one or two additional estimates. Paul said that the down spouts were in good shape and did not need to be replaced. The estimate was somewhat high, but within the range I found listed on the internet and included gutter screens for all the gutters. Paul could not give me an exact date but assured me that the job would be done as soon as possible within the next two weeks. Paul also said that I did not need to be home to which I responded emphatically that I wanted to be at home to see the work being performed. Since my backyard gate is locked, I was sure that the work could not be done without me present. Early in the morning of March 21, 2011, with rain pouring down, I received a call for the company asking that I unlock the gate to the back yard. I asked whether the gutters would be installed that day and was told no, it was raining but they wanted to store the material in the back yard. I went to work leaving the gate unlocked. Late in the afternoon, I received a call at the office from Janet (not sure of the name) the office employee, to tell me that the job had been completed; she wanted to know how I wanted to pay. I expressed my surprise and dismay that my express request of being present was disregarded and that the job was performed on the same day I was assured it would not be done. Janet knew nothing about my request. The next day I called the office to suggest that I bring the payment by the office so that I could at least see a sample of the gutters that were installed without me be present. Janet said that they do not have samples since the crew goes to the supplier to pick up what they need before they perform the work. I again expressed my displeasure at not having seen the much touted gutter system using hidden screws being installed and wondered whether the gutter screens had been installed. I rejected an offer that someone could take a picture for me stating that my son would do that when he came by again. Two days later, on Wednesday, I was working at home when I noticed a Springfield Roofing company truck parking in the alley looking up at the gutters. I assumed that the company had sent the employees by to show me what the gutter system looked like and went out to talk to the two employees. We could not communicate because they did not speak English. Eventually, through pointing and showing me the boxes of gutter screens, it became clear that they were there to install gutter screens they had not installed on Monday. I called the office to inform Janet that two Springfield Roofing workers were on my roof completing a job I was told had been performed on Monday. It became clear that there is no communication among the office, the estimator and the workers who perform the job. I waited for several month for my anger to subside before writing an unfavorable review. I still have no idea about the quality of the gutters nor how they were installed. The gutters have been handling the recent heavy rainfall fairly well with barely any over-flow. For that reason, I gave an overall rating of "D" rather than "F." Unfortunately I and several of my neighbors have noticed that the old down spouts do not match the new gutters exactly and that the rusty old screws are now very noticeable; had I been home, I would have insisted that the down spouts be replaced as well.
Description of Work: I called Springfiel Roofing to reattach one of the gutters that had become partially separated from my house and wound up replacing all gutters on my house.

I called Springfiled Roofing to look at a mysterious leak that I thought was coming from the roof. The estimator came out and was very professional and knowledgable. He determined that the windows on the rear of the house were leaking but the roof was fine. The main issue I had was the cost. The estimate I got was for $900.00 to caulk 3 windows (2 of the 3 were leaking). Another company quoted about half that amount to caulk the 2 leaking windows and install under sill trim on the 2 windows. So I went with the other company. I'm also concerned that the caulk may not have been enough to prevent the windows from leaking so was happier to have the under sill trim installed.
Description of Work: Provide estimate for mysterious leak I thought was coming from the roof but was actually the windows.

They came our quickly to give us an estimate. The estimate was very good compared with other companies that would only paint the fascia boards, not cover them with aluminum. Then we had a bit of a problem when they came out to do the work, and couldn't get the proper color of aluminum. They didn't call me, and I had to call them about why they left. Then, we had to call their office again to request the day of installation. After about 8 days, they showed up on our doorstep to do the installation ! The installers were from a subcontract company, there were two of them. The installers were very efficient and professional, and did a wonderful job. One day they tore everything down and covered all the boards. The next they put up the gutters and the downspouts and cleaned up. The hole on the roof was fixed by a roofing crew the same day. A rep from the company came out to check that the hole wasn't a leaking hazard earlier, a special trip. The contracts were clearly written, and sent via email or fax. They were very good about the billing, allowing credit cards and the downpayment was paid and the balance on the same card, with receipts and emails to make sure all was clear. In general, the work looks great, the installation went smoothly. The only negative was the miscommunication with the difficulty of obtaining the proper color of aluminum. If they had made two more phone calls and explained why the delay, and given us a heads up on the date of the installation, they would have gotten perfect marks all around. As it is, I would do business with them again easily. A fair price and good workmanship.
Description of Work: Springfield's contracted company came out and replaced the gutters on the front and rear of our rambler style house. They installed new downspouts. In addition, they covered all the fascia board with matching PVC color aluminum, and the rake boards also (they are the boards on the pointed end of the house which do not have gutters). Some of the fascia boards were rotten, and they replaced them. They also fixed a hole near the sanitary pipe on the roof that they found while checking on the initial gutter replacement. We asked for a leaf guard only on the back gutters. The company was very helpful with advice about not moving the gutter downspouts (fading on the siding would be evident), and not putting up leaf guards where we wanted to put Christmas lights. They also encouraged using the coated aluminum to cover the fascia, which was our first choice anyway.

Springfield Roofing and siding replaced our roof and gutters in June of 2011, and we just could not have been more pleased with the experience. We have a large (43 squares), relatively complicated roof and got bids from 5 contractors to tear off the old roof, put on a new roof, and replace most of the gutters and downspouts. We got bids from 5 contractors that ranged from $14,900 to $33,600 for exactly the same job. We liked Keven Somers, the Springfield repesentative, from the very start. He is clearly a pro who knows roofing inside and out, and very practical. He did a thorough inspection of the roof before giving us a bid (compared to one company where the rep just walked around the house for 5 minutes and then bid an outrageous price) and explained exactly what he recommended. His bid was second from low by $200, but we were confident he would do a great job. The team came on time and worked for 3 days. The quality is just excellent in all respects, and we have a 7 year warranty for labor and materials and 25 years for just the roofing. We used Certainteed architectural shingles, by the way, which we would highly recommend. We would use Springfield again in a second, and have already recommended them to 3 of our neighbors who are looking at new roofs

They arrived at 7:00am Wednesday morning and worked until 8:00pm that night. Their workers only took a half hour lunch break and brought their own. They completed 2 levels of the house the first day and couldn't have been more professional. I have heard horrible stories about roofers, but this company made this experience a pleasant surprise for me. The second day was almost identical to the first, except for rain delay. However, they sat or stood in my carport and did not leave because of the bad weather. They finally finished the 3rd level of the roof and did a wonderful cleanup each day. Their workers were very friendly, very professional, seemed tireless, and answered all my stupid questions! The owner John was very helpful to me and even sent out samples of various shingle colors to help me decide. My house is now the envy of the neighborhood and I would use this company again in a heart beat - very honest people to deal with. Plus, I was impressed with their estimator - he did not try to take advantage of me and tell me I needed new gutters. He was a no nonsense type of person and I appreciated his straightforward answers and his professional opinions. Good job, Springfield!!!
Description of Work: Springfield Roofing removed all my old shingles and installed a new architectual ordimensional roof, along with a membrane for a slightly lower roof. They also installed larger openings in two gutters and inserted larger downspouts. When they finished, they blew off the roof and cleaned out all gutters. Their cleanup each day was wonderful.

I called three companies for an estimate on replacing my roof. Springfield Roofing was the only company that showed up for the estimate on the day scheduled at the time scheduled. Their estimate was about half the price of the other two companies, which worried me, but the price was high enough to seem fair from my back-of-an-envelope calculations so I went with them. Their crew showed up this morning at 7:30 AM, they tarped the lawn to protect it from the old shingles, and started in to tearing off. Tear-off was finished by 9AM and plywood replacement began. As a guess, I believe they replaced five sheets of plywood in just about the area that I suspected replacement would be necessary (where the old shingles had failed and under the old rooftop air conditioner). The removed plywood was indeed in sad shape, I have no doubts that replacement was needed. New plywood cut and installed by 11AM and off to lunch. New roof installation started after4 lunch and was finished by half past two. I am VERY pleased with the job they did in every respect and would recommend them highly!

Springfield roofing agreed to replace just one skylight. This is considered a very small job by roofing companies and many companies will not come out for such a small job. Springfield came out in a very timely manner and finished the work quickly and neatly. We have not had any problems with leakage of the new skylight. They were not the cheapest, but they did a good job. I would consider using them again.

2nd time using the company. Called for an estimate and they came right out. Price was reasonable; lower than I expected. The only thing is that I like to know in advance when people are coming, and I did not know they were coming. But, they were professional and pleasant, and returned to do additional work when the first job didn't solve the problem.

Our realtor highly recommended Springfield Roofing, so we called them for an estimate. They were pleasant and knowledgeable and didn't pressure us for business. They were able to fit us into their schedule quickly. Their service was quick and their crew extremely friendly. Unfortunately for them, an unexpected snow happened during the roof replacement but they managed to weatherproof the house and start working shortly after the snow. I can't say enough about them. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We have a low-pitch roof, so need a membrane or tar/gravel roof. We also had 30+ year old skylights that needed replacing. Our sofitts are wood (as an extension of our ceiling) and some external boards needed replacing. We had several companies come out for an estimate and Springfield Roofing were, by far, the most responsive, pleasant and non-pressuring. Their price was extremely reasonable.
