Horrible. The communications specialist ***** was very polite and professional, but the person who was supposed to call with my quote never called. I was first told I'd hear in 2 days, then 4 days later I called and was told I was on his list. I still heard nothing. Then I emailed ***** who responded quickly with his apologies, but the person still never called me. Poor follow through despite being ranked high on this site. 12 days later, still nothing.

I called Rooftop Chimney Sweeps on December 1. I wasn't able to get an appointment until January 6, 2021. I called on January 4 to confirm my appointment between 9-11 am. I also received emails to confirm my appointment. On the day of my appointment, I called to see if someone would be coming to inspect my chimney at my other property because I hadn't received a call or text from them. I spoke to someone at the call center and they said they would investigate and call me right back. One hour later, I still had not heard back from them. I called again and after 15 minutes, I was told that they scheduled me with a technician that no longer works there! During the month that I scheduled the appointment, this company did not know that the technician didn't work there and didn't think to reschedule those appointments. I asked to speak to a supervisor who didn't come to the phone and told customer service to give me a $50 discount and to reschedule my appointment for another 2-hour span the next day! I would never use this company. Their lack of detail and poor customer service does not instill confidence in their ability to do their job. These poorly run companies need to realize that people do not like wasting their time waiting for people to show up and still not get the service that was expected. There are so many other things I could have been doing rather than waiting at another home for them to show up. I would not recommend this company. We will see if the supervisor Markita actually even calls back.

They were expensive but they did a good job. They were professional. They were friendly.

I needed an inspection for my chimney to see if there was a problem with the venting, but was having a lot of trouble finding a company who could accomplish this. This is because I have a very old gas appliance which has a very small vent diameter which apparently doesn't allow for the cameras of chimney sweeps to fit. I finally called Rooftop Chimney Sweeps to see if they might be able to help. The owner returned my call and spent nearly 30 minutes asking questions and getting more information about my fireplace/chimney concerns. He even brought up my address on Google Maps to look at my building and review the chimney structure, etc. to help determine what kind of inspection could be done. I really appreciated the time he took speaking with me, and it's clear he is extremely knowledgeable. An appointment was set for a few weeks later. The technician (Perry) and assistant (Christopher?) that visited were very friendly and polite, took COVID precautions, and were also conscientious about keeping things clean during their work. They were very thorough, inspecting both inside and outside on the roof. They even found a way to scope the chimney despite the small vent. I was able to see the video of the vent as they were scoping the chimney. An inspection report was sent to me later that day. I am very pleased with the service I received and feel much better now about the safety of my chimney and fireplace.

We did not hire Rooftop Chimney for our work. After getting estimates from four Angie's list A-rated companies the estimate from Rooftop was clearly out of line. All estimates were based on the same work. It took days after Rooftop visited the worksite to provide an estimate and only after multiple calls asking for it to be sent. When we finally received the estimate from Rooftop Chimney it was more than double the next highest estimate and more than three times the cost of the other two estimates. The Rooftop total cost was $13,295 and the daily labor rate for a single mason was over $1100 per day. This might be a reasonable rate to rebuilt the National Cathedral but not to rebuild part of a house chimney.

Waited 5 days. No response. An organized, professional outfit would, as a minimum, follow up to clarify the request, or decline it.

I contacted Rooftop Chimney regarding an issue with damage to my fireplace. They answered immediately with timely and superior knowledge, expertise, and advice. Between the owners and staff, there is a wealth of proficiency and mastery of skill. By far the best chimney services in the area. Scheduled a chimney inspection back in October 2019 on their first available date in November, about a month out. On the day before they were to come I got a call saying they would likely come later in the morning than our initial appointment time. Told them that wouldn't work for me and rescheduled for their next available date, again a month out. Then got a text saying they wanted to move my appointment to their "inspection only" truck on another date and time entirely; I agreed by text but never got any confirmation. Then got a phone call the next week while I was driving. They wanted to move appointment yet again to still another date and time. Said I was driving, not sure it would work, please call me back. Last I ever heard from them. Tried to call and gave up on hold. Sent several text replies asking for clarification. Nothing. Sent a final text telling them not to bother coming, if they were ever planning to come at all. Who knows, they've not responded to that text either. Wasted two months waiting on them to come do a chimney inspection while keeping a needed furnace replacement on hold. Quite disappointed.

They never showed. After I called to complain, they referred me to a company that doesn't service DC.

My experience with Rooftop Chimney was very positive. I highly recommend the company. From the moment I first called their office and scheduled an appointment to the inspection itself to payment, Rooftop was professional, punctual, efficient and thorough. They used a Go-Pro camera and a drone-mounted camera to get a complete picture of the inside and outside of my two chimneys and fireplaces. Griffin patiently and clearly explained what he found, showed me the video and photos, and gave me some recommendations. At no point did he press me to buy additional services and actually saved me money by telling me it was not necessary to clean the chimneys this year. At my request he gave me an estimate for conversion of the wood-burning fireplaces to gas-fired. They were meticulous about covering the carpet and floor where they were working and wore plastic hospital type covers over their shoes when inside the house. They were very polite and respectful, including toward my two overly-curious dogs who monitored their every movement. I appreciated their office calling me a day ahead to remind me of the appointment and the guys showing up not only on time but a few minutes early. I will definitely hire Rooftop again for future inspections and work.

Curtis arrived on time, was very courteous, professional and efficient. He cleaned the dryer vent thoroughly and inspected the dryer itself. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and clear in his explanations about what was to be done and how. Curtis also cleaned up thoroughly and make sure no excess lint had blown about. The price for the service was extremely reasonable, especially as there was a special on at the time. This is the best dryer vent service experience that I have had in the 15 years I have been in Alexandria. I would highly recommend this service.

In anticipation of home sale, Rooftop Chimney provided flue inspections for my two fireplaces, as well as dryer duct cleaning. I got their name from my home inspector. During the flue inspection, they were able to show me —in realtime on an iPad— the damage to my 40-year-old terra cotta flues and explain my options for repair; they followed up emailing a written report. One always knows, this kind of work is simply expensive, but they had it scheduled it within a week, performed it in 2/3 of the time they had scheduled, kept everything tidy (indoors and out), and performed well beyond my expectations. They even managed to vacate the house an hour before I'd asked them to be done for a realtor's visit! Sam and the crew were professional, friendly, and worked very **** ** hot days to get the job done quickly. I am very happy to recommend Rooftop Chimney and I'll be handing them to the new owners.

Just 2 people did the service, it took like 2 hours to complete the service. They were thorough, they told us a couple of things that we should watch out for. Just cleaning my chimney out, they gave us suggestions of how to clean it going forward.
