"Thank you for the opportunity to price your prospective project. Our representative was very eager to earn your business. We apologize if his efforts were bothersome. Thank you for the feedback."
We did have two small issues. We had a custom shade on our existing back door; the crew took the shade with the door and we were not able to get it back. Nova provided us with a different (new) shade, but it was of much lower quality than the one we lost. There was also a mix-up regarding which way the screen door on the rear of the house should be hung, i.e., which way it should swing. We understood one way, while the installers understood the other. This was somewhat of a big deal since the doors are custom made and you can't simply switch the hardware to the other side to re-hang them. We looked over all the notes and paperwork that we'd signed, but could find no mention of which way the storm door should hang. It looks like it was just a mix-up, and there wasn't much to be done about it. After talking about the issue with the folks at Nova, we just decided to let it rest. The door is perfectly functional; we just wish it swung from the other side of the door casing. Again though, I would still recommend Nova Exteriors; as with any vendor you just need to be clear about expectations on all sides.
"Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate that you felt that if we had the opportunity to undertake your project that we would have done a good job. Our crews do exceptional work. We feel that our pricing is generally in line with our competitors as not to price ourselves out of an acceptable range. We do wish you the best with whichever firm that you have chosen. Angie's does provide contractors out there that offer quality installations. Take care."
"Thank you very much for letting us undertake your siding and decking projects. If there is anything else we can do to be of assistance please do not hesitate to drop us a line."
Ray White, one of Nova Exteriors' sales reps, came to our house and did a very thorough analysis of our requirements, showed us samples of what Nova Exteriors would install, gave us an estimate which was below most of the other 5 quotes we received. I was particularly impressed that Nova Exteriors is a Platinum installer of Provia doors. Nova Exteriors worked extensively to order exactly what we desired in our front door replacement with sidelights, and Fypon fluted pilasters, and specially ordered cap headers with dentil and trim moulding and Schlage polished brass with lifetime warranty for door knobs, Colonial Door Knocker, Schlage lock, magazine slot and polished brass hinges.
Nova Exteriors removed our 30yr old aluminum siding and replaced it with Mastic insulated siding with an exact color matching to our
Marvin windows. Replaced the gutters and downspouts and covered all exterior wood with aluminum covered with vinyl - same exact color match to our windows. Replaced shutters.- This work took a week to accomplish.
Nova Exteriors removed our (2) 36" wood doors and replaced them with a (1) 36" Provia steel door Schlage bright brass lifetime finish door accessories with (2) 14" Provia sidelights with glass windows. They removed the surrounds of our door and cap headers over 1st floor windows and replaced them with Fypon surrounds that Nova Exteriors had painted to match our Marvin windows. - This work took a 1-1/2 days to accomplish.
In my opinion, Nova Exterior's quality of professional installation cannot be exceeded. All workers provided an impeccable daily
cleanup. They accomplished everything requested of them. We have received many remarks from neighbors who said our house looks well restored.
"Thank you for the opportunity to assist you with your remodeling projects. We appreciate your patience and you made it very easy for us to schedule your work. It was a pleasure doing work for you."
After receiving estimates from other companies, I purchased my front door from Nova Exteriors. The salesperson, Gustavo Placeres, made me feel confident in their abilities and their doors are just beautiful. The lifetime warranty on the door removed my reservations about spending so much on a door.
I knew I wanted a door with a glass insert and Nova Exteriors offered multiple options. Though I knew what I wanted, Gustavo made great design suggestions, and also warmed me of potential design and security pitfalls. We created a model of my new entry doorway using an iPad. It was cool because I was able to customize every detail of my new door and view it in advance before any decisions were made. I knew exactly what I was getting. After I ordered the door, I made a last-minute color change. Nova Exteriors accommodated my request with no additional charges or delays.
The installers were wonderful. Professional, knowledgeable, considerate, efficient and clean! They removed and hauled away ALL materials from the old door. They literally went to the bricks of the threshold. My entryway is completely brand new. They moved the door back a few inches to align better with the interior of my home--their idea, not mine. The door closes securely and tightly, alllowing no drafts to seep in. Everything was replaced, including the moulding inside my home, and I'm overjoyed with the result. The attached before-after pic says it all.
I had to leave for an appointment before the installers completed the job (they were home alone) but I think it took approx. 5 hours to install my door. I absolutely love it!
If money were no object I'd have Nova Exteriors replace every door in my house. Until then, I'll enjoy my new front entry!
"Wow. Thank you for the great review. The pictures look wonderful. Happy New Year"
Since we have worked with NOVA Exteriors on previous projects (the installation of a bay window in Spring 2011 - fabulous job; and some weather stripping replacement for some of the Pella casement windows), we called them to see what they could do. We met with Ray who very kindly and thoroughly explained our options. David came out and did the final measurements and double checked that it was, indeed, possible to replace this center window without disturbing the two side casement windows and decorative "eyebrow" window on top.
Today, David and P.J. removed the old window (very nasty, indeed!) and installed the new one. My husband and I actually think the new window blends in better than the old one did! The workmanship, professionalism of the two gentlemen was excellent and they did a wonderful job cleaning up after the work was finished - can't even tell they were here!
"Thank you much for the posting. Dave and PJ are the pride of our organization. We look forward to assisting you again. Happy New Year."
"We greatly appreciate each opportunity you give us. Thank you again, NOVA Exteriors, Inc."
"Thank you for feedback. Our crew made the mistake of inversing the last digit of the home address from a "6" to a"9". Once we realized what had taken place we quickly sent the guttering crew to the right address. After completion I personally contacted the homeowner to follow up and said that they were fine but not so sure of the other party (spouse). We did not hear that there was debris left over. If the customer would have contacted us we would have had the crew out there the next day. We apologize for the inconvenience as it was an honest mistake. Fortunately, for the neighbor, they received a guttering system at no cost."
Do schedule quotes from other companies first because Nova Exteriors usually offers you a discount if you order the day of the estimate (high pressure sales tactic). If you like Provia doors and think you'll go with this company, get your other quotes first.
Installation when smoothly. The guys were very nice, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They did an excellent job!
Over the last 4 years I have dealt with a number of contractors and companies as I gradually upgrade my house. I can honestly say that none of the companies I worked with prior to Nova Exteriors impressed me with either the work they performed, customer service or honoring of their warranties. I currently am in the process of having Nova Exteriors do a second project in my home (replace the windows and sliding glass door). To date the same sales rep. Gustavo Placeres has been nothing but attentive and responsive to my families scheduling needs and price point. I am looking forward to Nova Exteriors completing the job with the same high level of commitment to quality, punctuality, professionalism and customer service.
I told a company rep on the phone before Gustavo even came out that we wanted a wood door, and the rep said they could order a wood door and the salesman who came to our house would bring brochures showing different wood doors. Gustavo didn't bring the brochures and then it took weeks to just get a quote for a wood door after he finally provided a website for another company that made them.
I needed Gustavo to work with my insurance company to explain his inflated bid that had no details about the breakdown of the cost for the job. He failed to follow through with the insurance rep and I finally gave up and contacted another company after wasting a lot of time.
"Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. We were not aware of your dealings with our representative. Your message will be forwarded to our owner today. We apologize for the inconvenience. It's been a rough run lately for us. We will get it together."
additional materials contracted and informed me I would be contacted within a week after Nova Exteriors received the material.
After three weeks of being patient, I contacted the sales representative (Mr. McSherry) on October 15, who passed my concerns on to the scheduling office of Nova Exteriors. After more than a week of patience and having not heard back, I again contacted the sales representative on October 24 with my concerns of having not been contacted by the scheduling department. The next day I received an email from the scheduling department (Ms. Chapman) stating that the phone system at the Nova Exteriors office had been unreliable, and they scheduled to have the door installed the following week on October 30.
On the day of the installation, I received a call from the scheduler stating that the installation would not be able to take place because the office was closed as a result of Hurricane Sandy, that the scheduler was not in the office, and that I would receive a call the following day to reschedule when she was at her desk. Completely understandable. However, I did not receive a call the following day. After an additional week of patience, I contacted the Nova Exterior service office and waged a complaint for lack of service and follow through. I was assured by Mr. Egan that I would receive a call the following day. I have not received a call, there has been no phone log for missed calls, and no voice mail messages attempting to schedule the installation.
Completely unprofessional and a failure to fulfill the contract in full. Complaints filed with BBB.
"We can understand the customer's frustration. The doors that we installed, much to the customer's satisfaction, were missing the door knocker and peepsite (accessories). The customer paid in full in good faith that we would come out in a reasonable time frame. It took longer than expected and we could have been more proactive. Our phone systems were changed from a phone to internet based program and it was not a seamless transition. I personally took the customers call last week and forwarded the request to our warranty department head. She sent a very wholehearted apology to the customer. We try our best to be perfect but we fell short. Apologies for not getting the door knocker and peepsite to you more quickly. Thank you for the opportunity, Gerald Egan NOVA Exteriors, Inc."
My kitchen bay window was destroyed by a tree during the 6/29/12 Derecho storm. My insurance company was hassling me about the claim and ants were invading my home through the boarded window, so I decided to fix the window on my own. I searched Angie's List and began calling companies. Nova Exteriors was the 4th company to come to my house to provide an estimate for the window.
The sales person from Nova Exteriors met me after work and was VERY nice. Their claims about the quality of the windows and life time warrantees are very similar to another locally well known company. And though they weren't the cheapest vendor, I chose them largely b/c I believed the sales person's assurances about quality and the great customer service (which is echoed in the Angies List comments).
A week or so after I signed the someone came to my home after work to measure the window.
About 4 -5 weeks later (as promised), they called to schedule the installation of the window. To install the window, they required I take the day off of work. They don't work Saturdays. They could only do it middle of the day, middle of the work week. Which requires me to take the day off and incidentally also increases the cost of the window (if I'm not working, I'm not earning). I was disappointed because up until that point, they were so flexible.. I wish I'd known this when I bought the window. It would have made the difference for me.
I bit the bullet, took the day off. And they installed the window.
About a month later, I notice water stains in the window. THE EXPENSIVE WINDOW IS LEAKING!!
I called them to have them come fix it. And again, they can only come during work hours. They can't come weekends. Which means it will cost me to have the window fixed. I feel duped!!! Where is all the convenience from the sales process? Where is the contrition a reputable company would have for selling me a bad product?
The woman on the phone insults me further by trying to "fix" the problem for me, so that the window can be fixed at Nova Exteriors convenience. "Can someone else stay at home to meet us?" I'm single, live alone, and now furious!
And all I can know at this point is that:
1. I paid $2650. for a window that was installed less than 3 months ago
2. That window is leaking!
3. The Lifetime Warranty isn't really free for me b/c they don't work Saturdays
4. I have no idea when I can take time off from my job so the window can be fixed at their convenience
Normally, I don't mind paying more for something if it's good quality or if there is a convenience associated with it. This company has my money and has given me neither.
Unless you've got lots of time and money, I'd leave this company alone.

"Good afternoon. Apologies for the inconvenience. Our service technicians do not work on Saturday. We can have one of our technicians out as early as 8:00am and as late as 7:00pm weekdays. These hours generally have worked for us in the past, but maybe we need to make Saturday accommodations. Our products are top notch, we believe, and take pride in the quality of our work. When the customer called in we were very responsive, as always, to respond to her service request and attempt schedule a service time of her convenience. We will confer in the office and see if we can work a Saturday out for the customer."
