We love our new roof! We especially appreciated the good communication throughout the process with Tom and his staff; they answered our questions, provided helpful recommendations for prep, and did what they said they would when they said they would do it. Tom's good advice resolved a family debate about color to all of our satisfaction. They took great care of our property and did an awesome job with cleanup.

We are SO glad we chose Tom and Lyons Contracting to install our new roof! From day one, the crew, led by foreman Ismael, were punctual, professional, polite, and extremely hard working. Our main concern was that our dog Emmy might accidentally step on a nail, but they made sure, every day after they finished, to carefully pick up every single nail around the house. Not only that, but they cleaned up everything every day, so that was a nice surprise. The roof looks great now, and we couldn't be happier. We would definitely give Lyons Contracting an A+! Thank you!

These guys are great. I needed a new roof and they were advertising a Big Deal. They have very high marks so I decided to give them a try. Tom came right away to scout out the job and gave me a complete estimate within 24 hours of my initial call. I needed the work done quickly and they were able to start the same week. They began early in the morning and finished by mid-afternoon. Clean up was perfect. I can't say enough about their timeliness, price and quality. If it were possible to give them a grade higher than "A," I would.

I was very impressed with the job Tom and his team did replacing my townhouse roof in Alexandria VA. Tom helped me choose the color shingles for the roof, and his workmen were professional, worked as quietly as possible (and I teleworked one day during the job!), and finished the job exactly when they'd said they would. They also cleaned up afterward so thoroughly that I found hardly any nails/debris a day after they'd left. I love my new roof, and I highly recommend Lyons!

Tom and his team were excellent. We had a variety of people come by to give estimates, his was on the lower end of the spectrum. More importantly for us, we were on a time crunch, and he was able to get the job done before some of the companies could even send a guy over to look at our roof! Happiness all around. We would definitely use again, but they did a great job, so we probably won't have to.

We had two roof leaks that became apparent after a day of deluge. Given the almost daily rain - often heavy - at the time, we were very anxious to get it fixed ASAP. Only two of the many companies that I called were able to come within a week, and Lyons was one of them. We liked the person they sent, who was friendly and professional. Best of all, we were deeply appreciative that he went ahead and caulked the leaks for us, as a temporary measure to help limit the leaks. And we considered their estimate to be very reasonable. We ended up choosing the other company for a couple reasons, but we liked Lyons very much and will definitely consider them as an option when it comes time to replace our roof in a few years, so I wanted to give them a good review.

We got an estimate but ended up using another provider that was lower. I would consider Lyons in the future. I think there was a miscommunication about who we were initially.

Ours was a small job, but, so far, so good:) Tom came out to give us an estimate after we discovered that the plywood under the shingles had some bad spots. We also told him that we occasionally had water leaking into the kitchen where the addition was attached to the house. We decided to go with them because Tom did not try to sell us on services we did not need. In fact, it was jyst the opposite. He told us we did not need to replace the house's entire roof. He gave us an estimated date to have the work done, indicating that, as a small job, he'd fit us in as soon as possible. The originally contemplated date was Friday, June 12, but it was an extremely hot day-- too hot to put a crew out on a roof. Instead, they came on Monday, June 15. It took about 5 hours. The crew came and left; we barely knew they were there. They cleaned everything up nicely before they left. A lot of the scheduling, estimate/invoice, payment was done via email, so it was very easy. We've had some incredible storms since the roof was replaced, and there have been no leaks:)

Tom came out to inspect and measure my roof prior to me purchasing the "Big Deal". He has a no-nonsense approach unlike other roofing companies I had talked to who need your significant other to be there for the high pressure sales pitch. Tom measured up the roof, discussed my color options and as an added bonus recovered a screw driver I had left sitting on top of an upstairs shutter. He said I should receive the quote the next day but it arrived by the evening. In it he detailed everything they would do and the cost of the overage as the "Big Deal" covered up to 1,600 sq ft but our roof was significantly larger. He also included drawings which I was pleasantly surprised to receive. We traded a few emails about some specifics and I placed the order. He dropped off 5 different color samples the following day which were great as the website images for the GAF shingles don't really tell you how they will look on your roof. After making our decision he gave us a date about 3 weeks out. Unfortunately the weather had not been great in Northern Virginia so the install slipped a week. He estimated 2.5 days for the replacement and he's was right on. The install went very smoothly. There was still the threat of bad weather so they went section by section so that there would not be any area left exposed should the weather turn bad. His lead installer Ishmael was very easy to work with. There was one area of the roof that had rotten trim on the fascia and he offered that if I could get some he would tear off the old and install the new. A quick trip to Home Depot and that was another job off my list. They did a good job with the cleanup and the new roof looks great.

The crew arrived on time and went right to work. They were done in one day They were efficient and professional. They cleaned up my yard thoroughly before they left. The only glitch in the whole process was the day before. The wrong color shingles were delivered. I think this was the fault of the supplier not the installer. Over all a great experience.

Purchased service in December. Received callback within one day of purchase from Tom to schedule an appointment, but because of other obligations and weather, we were unable to schedule immediately. I finally called May 20th to schedule. Tom scheduled to come out on May 21 to perform the service. He arrived promptly. performed the inspection and repaired the vent seal. The rest of the roof was reported to be in great shape and no additional work needed. Tom was very professional and performed the work quickly. When the time comes for more roof work, we will definitely reach out to Lyons Contracting again.

Perfect. Lyons was flexible in scheduling around my travel plans. Actually, they called a few days earlier than the planned date and asked if they could move the date up! The day before installation a truck with a crane arrive to stage all the material. The crew arrived the next day about 8:30 in the AM and I had a complete new roof by 6:00 PM. The workers were courteous in answering my questions and did a great job of cleanup. The roof looks great! From the initial contact for inspection and estimation through staging, installation, and cleanup the Lyons organization demonstrated professionalism. Highly recommended.

Everything went well. They did the whole job in one day. The clean up was excellent. They were very friendly and professional extremely skilled for their trade.

Amazing! Very impressed! After examining our roof, Tom took his time explaining the problem and offered a very simple fix to correct the issue. Even though it meant he wouldn't get the work, he suggested that we could get a handyman to fix it because it was a simple job. I still wanted him to do the work but they are backlogged about 4 weeks. To make sure that it would be done properly, he then drew us pictures of how to correct it and listed out the materials to use so that it was done properly and would look nice on our house. He even offered to speak with our handyman if he had any questions! He charged nothing for his time and expertise (even though I tried to offer) ? We were highly impressed with his knowledge and the time he took to help us. I will not use any other roofer in the future!

Didn't really communicate with me exactly what was done on the roof. They only said, I might need a new roof in 5 years.

Found Lyon's Contracting and Tom when they were replacing a neighbor's flat roof a few months ago at the start of winter. Tom quickly offered to check out my flat roof, which I knew needed replacing given leaks in both of my bedrooms. He arrived promptly for the inspection and provided a quote for old roof removal and replacement immediately afterwards, an experience I did not have with prior roof contractors. (Some never came as promised and one came, used my ladder to get on roof, and never followed up with a quote, even with follow-up emails. Did get a few other quotes though, and Lyons/Tom came in near the lowest.) Tom provided pics of past jobs that matched my circumstances, noted several houses nearby he did replacements on, and followed up with me via email a few months later when it was warm enough to start work. We booked Lyons and e-signed the contract, which was easy, with the job scheduled for the next week. Tom and his crew arrived as expected on the workday and completed the job in one day as planned. I joined them on the roof several times to check out the work and was repeatedly impressed at the quality and attention to detail. Tom provided pics of progress throughout the day and his crew cleaned a significant amount of material away at the end of the day. By 5pm, you'd have never known they had been here, but for the great new roof on my house and porch. They were careful to protect my wife's plants and bushes nearby and also helped me re-place my satellite dish on my roof once the job was complete. Couldn't be happier with the experience and would recommend Lyons Contracting and Tom to anyone, as he's an organized, straightforward, no BS contractor who runs a good crew, is respectful of our property and home, and knows his craft well. We had a good experience with Tom at Lyons Contracting through the whole process of getting a new roof. He was upfront and I never felt like he was putting pressure on us. We are happy with the finished product and like look of the new roof. There were delays with getting the roof done given the winter weather. If doing a project like this in the winter I would allow for a period of several weeks for the work to get done and not plan on a hard and fast start and finish date. Overall it was a good experience!

Very friendly and knowledgeable. Our project was weather dependent, so it took some time to complete the job. I never had to call to push them to finish the job as they were proactive in communicating the job timeline.

I was in trouble just after Christmas trying to decide what to do after terminating work by a non-licensed roofer from Culpeper who had claimed to have a Class C Virginia Contractor License and had promised more than he could deliver. I needed to remove the partial work he had done before Christmas and start over. After researching this List, (which I know I should have done in the first place,) I selected Lyons, here in Alexandria,. I talked by phone with Tom Petrilli, the owner, on Friday afternoon, Jan 2. He came to the house on Saturday afternoon, listened patiently to our story, and came back on Monday to do a full inspection of the roof. Tom gave us a professional detailed 5-page written proposal along with a very thorough inspection report on the sad condition of our roof, with photos, before the end of that day. I was particularly impressed that Lyons has a Class A Virginia Contractor License, and, as a GAF Certified Installer, is authorized to install GAF Timberline HD Lifetime fibreglass shingles. The crew of seven knew their trade and worked hard each day, including several very cold days. It was impressive to see a worker carry a 4 X 8 sheet of 1/2" plywood up a ladder to the roof with one hand holding the plywood. They were careful removing the old roof, laid protective tarp over our boxwood bushes around the house and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. It was a pleasure to deal with a professional who knows his business and responded thoughtfully to all our questions.

Everything was fine. They just finished the job when they said they were going to. There was an additional cost.
