I had a very positive experience with Lyons Contracting. After sending my initial email inquiry, Tom Petrilli responded within an hour. Within a matter of a couple of days, he had performed a site visit and gave his recommendations regarding the roof replacement. Shortly thereafter, I made my choice of shingles and got on the construction schedule. Any construction project is going to have unforeseen circumstances. As is bound to happen when one chooses to replaces their roof in January, the weather caused some construction delays. Tom kept me very well informed regarding how the weather was affecting what they could and could not do, and I am very happy with how he kept me in the loop regarding what was happening with the schedule. Likewise, when they got my old shingles off, they discovered that the extent of underlying plywood deck rotting was greater than expected. Tom kept me informed and emailed me pictures of the whole process so that I could make an informed decision regarding how to proceed. When they were finished, the clean-up was very thorough. Throughout the process, communication was excellent. Tom was great about making sure I had all of the information I needed at any given time, and I was treated fairly. I would have no hesitation recommending Lyons Contracting to others.

We contacted Lyons Contracting after we found water entering our newly purchased home through an upstairs bathroom vent. Arranging a time for Tom to inspect our roof took a little over a month, during that time he was difficult to get in touch with. Once Tom arrived to check the roof, the news wasn't good, the entire roof needed to be replace. He gave some tips on how we could temporally patch the problem area if a new roof wasn't in our budget right away. After the initial inspection, Tom was very responsive to my emails and kept us updated on his schedule and the pre-replacement activities. Our roof has two levels, an upper and lower. The lower roof was in horrible shape, 5 layers of roofing material and a section lacking proper decking. It took the team two days to replace the upper and lower sections. All of Tom's crew were courteous and professional. When a crew member's leg went through the section of roof with no decking, Tom ensured that the damage to our ceiling was fixed that day. The final bill was slightly over the original estimate, due to the need to replace rotted decking. How we would be charged in such a situation was clearly laid out in the initial contract. Tom and his crew also replaced old gutters and installed additional gutters along the upper portion of the roof. Tom was great to work with and I would use his services again.

I used Lyons because of the outstanding reviews on Angies List and I am happy I did. Tom and Mike from Lyons Contracting were wonderful to work with - incredibly responsive, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They came out immediately to do the quote and explain the work. Leading up to the day of service they worked with me to accommodate my schedule. The day before, they dropped off all of the equipment in an easy non-obtrusive way. On the day of service, a full team of guys showed up on time (including Tom who was my main point of contact throughout and did the entire roof that same day leaving no trace behind (and providing periodic updates so I could return home as soon as they were done. They also do a one-year follow-up visit and have a good guarantee. I am very pleased to have worked with Lyons.

I had purchased the Big Deal for a complete new roof for $ 6400 and there was the extra charge that came in but that is what I expected. They are professional. They came in, did the job, gave me the consideration that I wanted helped me through it, did the job, cleaned up and I was happy.

The roofing was old, weathered and need of replacing (roof was about 20 yrs old). Called about 3 contractors for estimates, Tom from Lyons was very thorough in explaining the process and was easy to get in contact with, while we were deciding which color and materials to use. The crew was very professional, systematic and thorough from the beginning to the completion of the job.Will be recommending to all my friends and neighbors. It went very well. Mr. Tom Petrilli was responsive to our needs and answered all our questions in detail about the whole process. His workers were courteous and cleaned up the work site very nicely. We were provided several samples of roof tiles to choose at the outset from which helped us select the best color to match our house. We are very pleased with the results and overall it was a very good experience dealing with this company.

This company and its owner, Tom Petrilli, worked as a true professional from start to finish. We had selected him in large part because of his outstanding record on Angie's List and because he was local to Alexandria, and he met and exceeded our expectations. Every appointment that we made with him was kept punctually. He clearly communicated the estimate and decisions that we needed to make and answered all of our questions immediately and thoughtfully. He identified some chimney work that we needed to get done before he could work on the roof, so we had to ask him to wait a couple of months to start until we could get that done. As soon as we finished that work, however, we were able to get on his schedule promptly (within a week) and the job was done in less than two days. His crews were very quick and hard-working. They put tarps down to collect the old shingles, nails, and wood; when they left at the end of each day the work area was very clean with no visible debris. Petrilli visited us on the day after completion to inspect the work and our yard for any problems. He explained what had been done and the decisions he had made to make the work as good as possible, presented us with a clear and concise bill for the work, and accepted payment by credit card without hesitation. He explained that some of the replaced wood came from old gutter guards that were keeping water close to the wood, so he said that he did not put them back. He offered to have his crew come out in a few weeks when the leaves had finished falling to clean the gutters so that we'd have time to think about the best option for our gutters going forward. Mr. Petrilli was knowledgable, polite, kind, and patient at every step of the way, and appeared genuinely happy and appropriately proud of his work when we expressed our satisfaction. The roof looks exactly like we wanted and expected, and we are confident that it was done right. We would not hesitate to recommend this provider to anyone.

The work was completed within 2 days and the workers left the work area remarkably clean.

I used Angie's List coupon for a new roof. I was somewhat hesitant to pay up front, however could not be more pleased! Tom was wonderful to work with, professional, very knowledgable and honest. He and his crew kept me informed at all times, were punctional, courteous and did an awesome job. My roof looks fantastic, quite a few of my neighbors have commented and may request estimates. I would definitely use Lyon's contracting again.

Tom Petrilli returned my call right away and answered all my questions. He explained exactly what would happen for the installation and about how long it would take. Materials were delivered on a Friday and the workers were there first thing Monday morning. Everyone was polite and professional. They finished the roof of our large house in two days and cleaned up everything so nicely, you wouldn't have thought they were even there. Mr. Petrilli came out himself the next day to make sure everything was the way it needed to be and everything looks great! I am so happy with the results, I am recommending Lyons to all neighbors! The whole process went well. They were able to come over just a few hours after we called for an quote on a Wednesday afternoon. The work and quote was professional and detailed. Mike Simpson was our main POC We received the quote the following morning and work was completed 2 days later. It was a small job, and they did it quickly and professionally. The work site was completely cleared of materials. While we haven't had our first real rain test yet, the work is warranted for 5 years and the materials for 25, which is longer than we intend to be here. The transaction was easily handled as well. I would definitely call them again if I had work required on our main roof section.

Tom did a complete inspection of what needed to be done and provided an estimate with all the details of what would be provided. His crew showed up at the agreed time and were completely professional in their work. The roof and the house are very old so there was much repair work necessary in addition to just installing shingles. The work was done to my complete satisfaction.

Customer service was exceptional. Tom was very responsive and informative with answering all our questions. He thoroughly explained the whole process and pros and cons of the roof we chose. Leading up to the construction, he kept us in the loop with timelines/weather. I didn't have power outside my house, so he dropped off brand new extension cords the night before for me to hang out the top floor windows so my house wouldn't get dirty and the house would be secure. On the day of the roof replacement, I received up to the minute emails with pictures of the progress. I felt like I was there the whole time. When I got home that afternoon my yard/property was spotless. Tom was there at the completion of the job to inspect the work and clean up and make sure we were satisfied. I would recommend his services to anyone.

Called Tom after the last major storm blew through here -- surprise, my new home had a leak in the roof! He was over quickly, treated the cats well as he toured the interior damage (a major plus), and had a quote in no time. He was a little more expensive than the other quotes I got, but he also has done dozens of roofs like mine in the neighborhood. It was a no brainer to go with him. Service delivery was also fantastic -- I couldn't be home during the day, so he sent me photos at each stage showing me the demolition, state of the rafters under the roof, and each layer of work done. Got a 600sq foot roof finished in 8 hours without breaking a sweat. Also, he takes credit card! First time I've encountered a contractor that does, and that's so helpful.

We first asked Lyons (and two other firms) for a quote to replace our roof after our home inspection revealed some moisture, particularly in one area of the second floor under our flat roof. Tom came to see the property to provide a quote, and realized that his team had replaced the roof 13 years ago, and that it just needed some maintenance work done and should be fine for another few years. We appreciated his honesty and chose to just do the maintenance this fall. Our project was rescheduled due to rain, but was completed well and quickly once we were able to reschedule. We look forward to working with Tom and Lyons when we eventually replace our roof.

They came out when promised, fit my small job in even though we had lots of rain to complicate their schedule. I would recommend this company. This was the third time I have used them.

They were great! Professional, timely, and the roof is perfect. So nice to work with a trustworthy company--especially when you're spending big money on something that should last for a very long time. I have a mansard roof, so the look of the roof is critical. So glad I found Lyons on Angie's List! I couldn't be happier.

Very well from start to finish. Tom provided a lot of detail about what would happen (and explained why and how), and kept me informed about timing (when supplies would arrive, etc.). He was very good about answering all my questions and providing a comprehensive proposal. And it was the best price among all the estimates I'd requested.

All work was done as expected and everyone was courteous and professional. They even found where part of the original roof decking wasn't constructed properly and fixed it.

Lyon's contractor called us 10 minutes before his scheduled appointment to tell us he was leaving a job that went over and that he would be late...which I did not consider to be late seeing as I was expecting him to show up somewhere between the 10 to 11 o'clock range and it wasn't even 10 yet. He arrived around 10 after 10, got instantly to work without making us sign up for anything or pay any fee. Found the cause of our leak within minutes (turned out to be a nail through the ceiling). Contractor fixed this issue instantly and then let us know (since we know nothing about roofs) that our roof is still in good condition and has several years left to it and what conditions to look for when it will need to be replaced. Only charged a dollar, which i would have paid a lot more for his time and services to prevent water actively leaking into my house. Great customer service all around!

Tom and his crew were very professional. The work was performed with care, and done in a timely manner.

Contractor was very prompt and courteous. The overages in his quote were listed in the Angies Big Deal, I just didn't know enough about roofing to know that they would add up like that. Contractor was also very nice when we spoke through the overages and understood why I was not willing to move forward.

Tom provided me with a quote to replace my roof. I asked him to come check out my existing roof before I made a multi thousand dollar investment. He just called from my house and told me that, even though my roof was 20 years old, it was holding up and that it didn't need to be replaced........today. Kudos to a firm that has the integrity to tell you when you don't actually need their services today!!!! I really appreciate it and will be sure to use them in the future.

The whole process process went very smoothly. They provided a detailed estimate very soon after I first contacted them. The price was not the lowest, but it was very competitive. There was no pressure nor was there any attempt to pad the job with unnecessary bells and whistles. Once the firm was selected, the work began within a few days and was completed in about 1.5 days. The crew showed up exactly when I was told they would be here and worked very diligently They were very thorough in cleaning the job site after they finished. The quality of their work seemed to be first rate. I was very happy with this company and highly recommend them.
