This family owned company truly believes in making the consumer happy regardless of what it means to their bottom line. From the receptionists, to the repairmen, to the office manager,, Mike Berry, they exemplify professionalism. This company has been in business for decades and it is easy to see why. . They not only resolved my problem, but sent a field supervisor out to my house to explain what they were going to do, and why it would solve the issue, to a followup call from Mike Berry himself. I could not be more impressed. I would refer Kesterson to anyone looking for honesty and superior work ethic, as well as competitive prices. I would rate th company an unqualified A+ across the board.
Description of Work: I have written a glowing report for Kesterson before, and I would like to add to it. I was having an output problem from my hot water heater , which was purchased from Kesterson about 10 months ago. They were very understanding and responsive to my concerns, testing the unit, contacting the manufacturer, and eventually providing a resolution to the problem, by adding a supplemental unit to assist in the output of hot water.

The plumber arrived on time and had everything on hand to complete the project quickly. Added in some necessary valves while moving the pipes since the old ones were wearing out and difficult to use. Provided advice on the best ways to avoid freezing in the future. Also installed a faucet in the kitchen, which became difficult because the old faucet nut was rusted to its threads. It was really helpful to have a pro there to help me through that install.
Description of Work: Moved hot water pipe from against the exterior wall to inside kitchen cabinets. Will help to prevent freezing. Also installed faucet.

The operation went well. In response to my questions the technician took the time to explain to me what I was seeing on-camera and thus help me decide on whether the condition of my wasteline posed a problem that would require immediate replacement of the wasteline. Following the camera evaluation Kesterson promptly provided and estimate for the cost of replacing the wasteline if I decided to go in that direction. Hiring Kesterson for this task was basically a good experience and certainly worth the expense to enable me to decide whether I wanted to commit to the expense of replacing the wasteline. Ultimately I chose not to replace the wasteline but if I do choose to do in the future I would certainly strongly consider using their services.
Description of Work: I asked Kesterson to run a camera through the main wasteline connecting my house to the municipal sewer. It was a straightforward job with easy access to input the camera into the wasteline. They were responsive and punctual.

My old kitchen disposal suddenly developed a leak making it awkward at best (necessitated catching leaking water in a bowl under the sink) to run any water in the kitchen sink or run the dishwasher. I really needed someone to come the same day if at all possible and Kesterson did that and sent Ben who really seemed to know what he was doing and was very professional. He not only replaced the disposal unit but answered some questions I had on its care and also gave me a tip on how a hose underneath the sink could be tacked up more vertically to make the dishwasher do a better job which he went ahead and did for me. I give Kesterson and Ben high marks.

We woke up on a frigid day (17 degree weather) with no hot water. We immediately called Kesterson to come out and look at it. It was a Saturday and Scott was the plumber on call - he was very responsive, arrived within 20 minutes. Since we had cold water, he immediately thought to inspect our hot water heater to make sure it was working properly. He discovered the hot water heater was fine but it did need a replacement part and went to Home Depot to get the repair part. Once installed, he began looking at other causes and determined that our pipes were frozen. We had just had renovations done in our basement where the plumbing pipes are on the exterior walls of the house and they were drywalled in but the contractor did not insulate the pipes, so they froze. We've lived in this house for 7 years and this had never happened before but it made sense since the walls and pipes were exposed prior to reno that they had access to heat. Scott cut out some holes in the ceiling where the pipes ran so that heat could get up in there, and within 30 minutes we had hot water. Scott was very patient and systematically went about resolving our hot water issue. He also stated that there were 8 other calls about frozen pipes during his time at our house working on our issue. In a few cases, he offered a few simple tips over the phone (open up all doors, cabinets, etc to let the heat access the pipes) and some folks called back to say that the problem resolved itself by doing this. I thought that was genuine of him to offer advice, considering he may not get $$ business by doing so, but this is exactly why we will be calling on them again next time we have a plumbing issue!

After a couple of days of bitter cold, I woke up on 8 Jan 2014 to find that there was no hot water flowing from my kitchen faucet. As I have a "crawl space", I suspected a frozen pipe but had work responsibilities that required me to go to work. I found Kesterson on Angie's List and called them from work. When I explained the problem, the man who answered the call gave me some good information over the phone and offered to schedule a visit that same day. He was very accommodating to my schedule and need for a shorter "window" than the usual 4 hours. The technician called before he came and arrived promptly at the beginning of the visit window. It turned out that the pipe had thawed almost exactly at the time the technician came to the door. He checked it out anyway and even went into the "crawl space" to make sure there were no leaks and that the pipes were adequately insulated. And when I asked "how much do I owe you?", he replied no charge. WOW-this is unheard of in a time when the company must have been busy with many other plumbing issues and the technician (Jonas, I think) actually did make the call and provide some service. He was very professional and took the time to make sure my mind was at ease. I will definitely call this company for my future plumbing needs.

We had been smelling gas off and on outside our house and called Washington Gas, thinking it was their gas meter. Unfortunately, we called on December 31, New Year's Eve, not thinking that if the problem was with our piping, they would shut off our gas without fixing the problem - which is exactly what they did. So it was about 3:00 PM New Year's Eve, we had no heat, and hot water would be gone in a few hours. We went to Angie's list, and called a few plumbers. All were already closed or unable to come out until we hit Kesterson. They sent someone within the hour. The person they sent out was named Omar, and he looked at the problem and tried to figure out how he could fix it that day, but in the end, he could not get the needed supplies because all the supply houses were also closed for New Years. Omar did everything possible to prepare to get the job done after the holiday. He called us early this morning and said he had been able to move other appointments to make sure he could get to us early, as we were in a cold house, which we really appreciated. He arrived early in the morning and he and another employee removed the bad piping and replaced it - finishing the job in about an hour. They were fast, friendly, and got us up and running quickly. Many thanks to Omar and Kesterson.

Here's the whole story: 1. Our garbage disposal got some junk jammed into it. I tried to clear it myself, and succeeded for just a moment, but it rejammed itself. 2. I called Kesterson for an appointment. "How about this afternoon?" 3. The guy came out and fixed the problem in just a couple of minutes (it was a penny jammed in the garbage disposal - we have a five year old son). He then took a few minutes to suggest how we could avoid having that pop up again, and how to clear it on our own if it did jam. All in all, a fantastic experience.

Plumber and Assistant are A++++ for customer service and competence. Office Manager/Dispatcher is rated F for total lack of professionalism. Plumber Paul and Assistant Junior (per name tags on their shirts) completed multiple plumbing repairs/replacements in my home: * Replaced the leaking plastic water line to my fridge using a copper line and dual shut-off valve. * Replaced 1956-era shut-off valves under kitchen sink and 2 bathroom sinks, and 1 toilet shut-off valve. * Replaced a washer in a leaking bathroom faucet and replaced 2 outside bib hose valves. * Fixed the rocking toilet in the master bathroom -- (At last!) Noting that Kestersons plumbers installed that toilet over a year ago. It's been wobbling ever since and I've had various Kestersons plumbers out at least 3 separate times in the past year to correct the problem - without success. The GOOD and EXCELLENT - I am VERY IMPRESSED with Paul, who is both practical and a self-described "old school plumber". He usually works on commercial jobs, but I was lucky he was assigned to my residential job. He came prepared with nylon shims which he inserted under the back edge of the rocking toilet. The slightly uneven tiles can cause rocking, and it's an easy fix, if the plumber knows what to do and takes the initiative and time to insert a nylon shim. The BAD and UNPROFESSIONAL - I am NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED with the person at the office manager/dispatcher/office number, who I found to be rude and opinionated when I called (again, 4th time) about the rocking toilet problem, despite the fact that I was scheduling nearly $1000 of work. I heard that same rude voice on the other end of the line when Paul answered an incoming call as he was finishing my job. I heard that voice issue a string of expletives, very loudly. My overall impression was of a verbal bully - berating competent plumbing professionals who had just provided stellar customer service to a long-term customer. I was quite embarrassed to overhear this call. It was impossible to not overhear that loud, rude man from the Kesterson office, and this did not leave me with a good impression of Kestersons Plumbing or how they treat their employees.

I read online that 40 years ago when cast iron pipe was used, it was kept together by packing lead into the fittings, so I didn't think there was a rubber seal stuck in the pipe. In fact, what I saw on the video screen from the camera looked like a rubber baby toy with a pacifier stuck on the end, and since my tenants have a 3 year old, I thought she may have put toys/pacifier in the toilet. I work for a water conservation company and my co-workers also agreed that the blockage couldn't be a rubber seal and that if the line backed up again, I should have it hydro jetted or have a root cutter put in the line to try and chew up the blockage. The line backed up about 5 weeks later on a Sunday. I had roto rooter come out this time because they have root cutter and hydro jett equipment. Hydro jetting was done because the root tool may have slipped by the blockage through the unblocked area of the pipe. Unfortunately, hydo jetting didn't work and it was a waste of an additional $950. Eventually, the pipe was excavated and Kesterson had been right -- there was a rubber seal coming up through the bottom of the pipe. Word to the wise: Call Kesterson Plumbing in the future for sewer line blockage. They can only snake the line because they don't have hydro jett or root cutter equipment, but Roto Rooter didn't know what was in the pipe and they wanted thousands of dollars to excavate the line.
Description of Work: Kesterson Plumbing snaked the main sewer line. The technician was able to clear the line, but the camera showed a blockage that wouldn't move. technician thought the rubber seal used to put two pieces of the cast iron pipe together had somehow became dislodged and was caught in the sewer line. They recommended excavating the sewer line pipe where the blockage was and to put new PVC pipe in with Fernco fittings to hold the pipe together. They quoted $1,500 for this work.

With it being a holiday week I was very pleased to get a nice lady answering their phone who made sure that we would have a technician the same day to fix our clogged kitchen sink. The technician called when he was 15 minutes out, and was here just as promised. He worked very diligently and timely to unclog the sink, all while being polite and respectful which is always appreciated. I was very pleased with all the services received from my initial call, to their quick response and repair being completed. Next time I have plumbing trouble I will be giving them another call.

They responded very quickly to my request for service, gave me an estimate, set up a work time, and skillfully repaired the breach in the concrete. Very professional...no wasted time. They dug a 3-4 ft hole around the foundation , shored up the pipe leading into the basement (water line), which over time had begun to sink. They patched the inside and outside and were gone within 3 hours. A plus operation from start to finish

Kesterson's made it EASY. I had called several local plumbers. Pricing estimates were difficult to pin down but generally ranged in the area of $400-$425 for parts and labor. I had considered going to Home Depot or Lowes to buy the part and save myself a couple of hundred dollars (the part retailed for $99.96), but opted for having the plumber handle everything. Most places said they could have someone come by the next day. Then I called Kestersons. They quoted a firm flat fee price (which was less than the other estimates), gave me an Angie's List discount and came the same day. They gave me a range of times and said they would call before. They called and said they had finished their prior job early and would I like them to come a little early. They came, replaced the disposal in a quick and clean manner. In and out in about 40 minutes. The workmen were very nice and polite. They made it so easy it made me glad I hadn't wasted the time to drive to the store, buy a part and then go through the learning curve of trying to install it myself. Money well spent.

I got an appt the day after I called (which is good). I said I was Angie's List member... they had a $20 off coupon. (also good) and 10% Sr. discount. They set the appt and said the plumber would call when he was on his way -- between 12-4. He called at 12:30 to say he was 30 min out. He arrived and went to work. Fixed the clog; checked the other toilets and sinks. Gave me my discounts. That's about as efficient as it gets. Not cheap but a LOT less expensive than other plumbers, including other ones on Angie's List. I was very pleased.

Technicians arrived on time and were polite. They sent two techs which I thought was a little overkill and I thought the price could have been $50-$100 less but I'm OK with it I suppose. They competed the work quickly without making a huge mess and they cleaned up what little mess they did make. I will have them back to complete plumbing work as part of a larger kitchen renovation later on in the project when the new sink and dishwasher are ready for installation. Thanks Kesterson.

The plumber from Kesterson was prompt and polite, and he basically got the job done. My main complaint is that he pretty clearly padded his bill by replacing parts that weren't broken (and that, in at least one case, were obviously pretty new). He also overcharged for the parts. Overall, $300 to swap out the fill valves on 2 toilets is absurd. I might use them in the future...if I could watch the guy like a hawk and if he had to ask my approval for every part he used. Really, I'm just regretting that I didn't do the work myself. ADDENDUM: Kesterson responded to my first review and reduced the bill by $50.
