Description of Work: Installed a Zoeller sump pump and water siphon sump pump backup system. I was originally very pleased with Kesterson as their estimator recommended the water backup system rather than a battery backup. It took several follow-up calls to get the work scheduled but it got done and the base system works. The technician seemed hesitant to test the backup system for me but that seems to work as well. The system came with a warranty but Kesterson was also hesitant to discuss it and never did provide me with the requested information. I just have to hope they keep my record on file so that if any issues come up with the pump they will be taken care of under warranty.

Description of Work: Replaced garbage disposal and snaked drain. The onsite technician was very professional and courteous. Based on his performance alone, I would not only use Kesterson Plumbing again, but I would also recommend them. I was disappointed when the onsite technician quoted me $50.00 less for the job, but about two hours later when the job was completed, Kesterson's told the technician to charge me $50.00 more than what I was quoted, although there was absolutely no trouble with the job. In fact, the technician stated he didn't even find any obstruction or problem in the drain line; and that the combo price quote he gave me is the usual quote he gives on his jobs and never had an issue with it before. It was a simple job and I thought Kesterson should have backed up the technician's quote to the customer. And although I know I had every right to call Kesterson's office insisting on the quote agreed upon for services, I felt the technician was so great and professional that I didn't want to cause any issues for him that day. He had gotten a couple of phones calls on his other jobs while he was still at my home. I guess I will see if Kesterston decides to do the right thing or not about the $50.00 difference. But regardless of their decision, I would recommend them. |The quote was for $450.00 and I had a $20.00 Angie's List coupon, but I was charged $500.00 and they accepted the coupon. So total out of pocket cost was $480.00 vs. $430.00.

Description of Work: My heat went out on a night it was forecast to drop below 10 degrees. They came on an emergency basis, fixed the problem, and I had heat!

Description of Work: These folks are great; no gimmicks, "over assessments", false remedies, and all the other stuff crooks typically levy against folks that don't understand plumbing et al. I will forever use them as my go to folks in this area. Honesty is always the most important element to me. They embody it and do the job right the first time!

Description of Work: re-routed incoming water line to provide a water shutoff inside the house. During some construction, a contractor put the shutoff outside and too deep to reach to turn off in an emergency. Kesterson fixed it!

Description of Work: Made an after-hours emergency call about a broke water line. A fellow named Chris returned my call in about half an hour after I left a message with their answering service. I explained the problem, and Chris quoted me a price for an after-hours visit. It wasn't cheap. He then proceeded to tell me how to make the repair myself with a quick trip to the hardware store and said to call him back if it didn't do the trick. Well, I did. I'm sure I could leave it as is and never think about it again, but I will be calling Chris back to come during regular hours to do the work for a permanent fix.

Description of Work: There was a leak from the upstairs bathroom into the kitchen and fixed the problem.

Description of Work: Rebuilt a leaking shower hot water valve and checked status of the cold water valve. Very pleased with all aspect of the service. Plumbing is expensive in this area, but i find this company very price competitive with other plumbers i have used. Here is more detail than necessary, but might be helpful to those who might have similar drips that don't seem to be able to be resolved with normal "harry home owner" efforts: I was very impressed with the manner in which the plumber explained the problem and described what would be necessary to stop the drip. The detail he reported is that 72 years ago when the valve was installed they were designed to take a soft rubber or even horsehair/felt "stopper" to seat or seal the valve against a brass housing. This soft seat would normally be replaced every so often with another of the same soft type when when the stopper became worn and a drip began to occur. Years and years ago under routine homeowner maintenance these soft valve seats began to be replaced with "permanent" harder rubber seats that did not have to be changed so often because they were more resistant to normal wear; as they eventually evidenced wear and drips occurred home owners would screw the hard rubber stopper into the brass housing... over time the hard rubber, screwed ever-tighter and tighter would distort, bend or tear the brass housing sufficiently to make a secure seat impossible, consequently the drip that could not be eliminated, even with the installation of a new "stopper." So, he went back to the shop to secure the necessary replacement housing, which was not in stock, so he had it ordered and returned when it arrived. He also checked the integrity of the cold water housing, which was not dripping, adjusted that slightly and advised not to turn it too tight if it ever began to drip.
