I'm sorry that you are not pleased with the excellent sales results your estate sale generated. Your better mid-century teak furniture and the better items in the home were sold. What did not sell was the brown walnut mid-century furniture, which is distinctly less interesting to the consumer market than the teak pieces, and the other types of items and low-interest collectibles that normally do not sell at an estate sale. There is always 15-25% of physical contents that go unsold and I cannot imagine that our team member did not tell you that since it is a standard part of our conversation with every client. Items that are attached to the home, like a chandelier, are not normally offered for sale because there is an inherent risk that goes with disconnecting any item connected to the home's water or electric service. Pricing for items is designed to maximize selling prices at the intersection of shopper desire and market pricing. In other words, we need to start high to ensure that as we discount items are sold at or around the actual estimated fair market value. We absolutely appreciate the input you provided us on pricing and is exactly why we encourage clients in the contract to review prices before the sale begins. Please note that the sale delivered better than anticipated and predicted results. Our pre-sale estimate was 12-15 thousand dollars of gross sales and the final gross sales result was just shy of 17 thousand dollars. Your total clearance costs, a service you added after the sale was over and therefore not as efficient as when it is integrated into the sale process, were approximately $1100 and were about 1.5 trucks worth of hauling.
