Becker Electric Co Inc

I’ve been using Becker for the past 20 years and they always do a fantastic job. When they came out to do the estimate they noticed an extension cord I had running across the front of the house over to my motorcycles and asked what it was for (battery chargers). The estimator asked if I’d like an outlet on that side of the house so we would not have this long extension cord running across the entry. I had not even thought to ask if that could be done but loved the idea and Becker made it happen (no easy feat given how they had to run the circuit inside a 70 year old house).

They were great, they did a great job, I was totally satisfied with their work, and I will use their services moving forward in the future.

Never received a response from Becker Electric to two messages through Angie’s List and a voicemail message.

Becker was able to work me into its schedule earlier than expected when another job was finished early. Its two-man crew arrived on time and did the work professionally at a fair price.

I had estimates from 3 electricians and they were all more or less in the same price range. I selected Becker based on reviews here and Consumer Checkbook and Marc Mankin's professionalism when he came out for an estimate and responded to my questions later by email. He made some really good suggestions about my lighting needs. It took about 2 weeks to get on their schedule. The electricians did a great job. I had over 20 recessed lights installed and they only had to cut one small hole in one wall. I thought that I would have to have my ceilings repaired and painted but did not. Had prompt and friendly service from Linda in the office. Highly recommend.

Everything went well and installation was done meticulously with minimal disruption and drywall cutting (the two new circuits required running wires down into the basement (partially finished) and out to the panel box in the garage. The only downside was the price; it seemed to be very expensive for 1 1/2 days labor and materials.

It went very well, and I would recommend them to others.

Electrician said it couldn't be done without cutting a larger hold in the wall and repainting, etc. Rather than offering to provide an estimate for that work, he simply offered to put in a standard on-off switch, which he did with great skill. The switch plate he provided was a little dirty, but I was able to clean it with a cloth. He could not have been nicer or more professional.

Perfect. I wanted the doorbell button moved from where it was in the door frame to the brick wall next to the door. I expected they would have to cut a hole inside the house to access the wiring but they were able to do it all without any additional holes. Very impressive. They called about 30 minutes prior to arrival and were done in less than an hour. They did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. I've been using them for many years for all my electrical projects and they have consistently been great. A pleasure to work with true professionals.

These new outlets were installed but never tested. By sheer coincidence, we were having other work done in the house when it was discovered that the newly installed kitchen outlets had "open grounds". When I contacted Becker Electric, they refused to send an electrician (at no cost) to troubleshoot the problem. When I asked if Becker electricians are responsible for checking to see that their work was done correctly, the response was that this would cost the customer more due to the extra labor time, so checking their work is not something they routinely do. Supposedly this is done out of concern for charging the customer more money. Basically there is no quality control! I was also informed that the problem was probably due to faulty wiring that was done by the original contractor.
When another electrician was hired to investigate the open-ground issue, it was discovered that one of the plug tracks was not installed correctly. This in turn caused all the outlets on that circuit to have an open-ground. When I contacted Becker Electric to inform them of the outcome, they made no apology for what had occurred and did not offer to refund any portion of the cost paid for their service.
The electrician's apparent lack of attention to detail during the installation, not checking his work upon completion, and the Becker's unwillingness to return to investigate the problem are totally reprehensible. Additionally the completely unapologetic attitude of the company's owner/manager was shocking.I will never use Becker Electric again and I will make sure that anyone who ever asks for an electrician referral be informed NOT to contact them.

The service was perfect.  Sy and Brian arrived promptly on time and immedialtely went to work.  The understood the scope of the work quickly and performed it in such a way as to minimize any disruption to our routine.  They were polite and professional and the cost was competitive.   We would use them again in a heartbeat.

They came the day after I called them.  They charged a flat fee for the first half hour, and the job took less time than that.  They were extremely fast, efficient and friendly.  I feel that I got good value for my money and will definitely call them the next time I need electrical service.
