Went very well. Technician accomplished the work quickly and made sure everything worked before the left. I was extremely impressed with the responsiveness of this company. I called around 8:30am on New Year's Eve and they were in my house working the problem within an hour and a half.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a leak coming from my Kenmore refrigerator. Repaired a faulty water valve, and tested refrigerator to ensure repair had worked. Had necessary part on the truck so no second visit required.

The company was super responsive-- they scheduled an appointment and the repairman showed up on time. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained it, and repaired it in about 5 minutes. The total time from arrival until departure was less than 25 minutes minutes... most of which was him verifying that washer was fixed. It was a tad expensive... but the Angie's List coupon brought it down to a reasonable level. The price is definitely worth this quality of service.

The dryer was squealing loudly. The technician gave me a call prior to the appointment, showed up on time, and fixed the issue quickly by replacing a bearing. Technician was very helpful and friendly, price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend their service.

I give them a very mixed review. I have a Viking oven/stove combination, and I was having problems with both parts. The serviceman initially came out and diagnosed the problems and then had to order the parts (and then had to come back again twice). For the oven, he got the parts and returned and fixed it, and I am very happy with the fix. However, for the stove, he tried to fix it and failed. And, in doing so, tried to mislead my au pair (who was at my house) that it was actually fixed but it was not. So she called me and told me that it wasn't actually fixed. So he agreed to come back and again told me that it was fixed. He charged me over $600 but did not give me an itemized receipt. I then tried the igniter on my stove, but it still wasn't fixed. I now have called them three times to get my money back on the part of my bill that covered the stove repair (not the oven repair, which I am very happy with) and I cannot get the manager--Sammy--on the phone. I also cannot get anyone to help me with getting my money back. So, I am extremely happy with the oven fix, I am extremely unhappy with stove fix, and I am extremely angry that the repairman was sneaky about not actually fixing what he claimed he fixed, that he didn't give me an itemized bill, and that I cannot get a call back about the money that I want back for the part that isn't actually fixed. I respectfully want my money back for the part that wasn't fixed, and then I will try to find someone else to actually fix it once and for all.

Called on 11/14 and got an appointment same day. The technician called the next day with the price for replacing the parts. I agreed and he ordered the parts. When the parts arrived I received a call and set up the appointment to replace the parts. The technician arrived with the parts and finished the job quickly. Keep the area clean. Very pleased with the Job. Will use again.

Our washer had stopped draining. Called Appliance Repair Leaders. The repairman arrived half an hour after the window for coming, took a look at our washer, lifted it up and showed us that a plastic belt was broken. He removed the belt and the washer worked. He did not replace the belt. He then charged 185.00. When I questioned this charge, because he had been there all of 5 minutes and had not actually replaced anything, he said that they charge "by job"--and that they decide how much a job costs. Basically, this guy did nothing and felt he should get nearly 200.00 AND he did not tell me before he performed this "labor" how much it would cost. I would have never agreed to it. Bad business practice. I learned my lesson and will never call a repair shop without first asking what they charge for serivce calls and hourly. I will never, ever use this company again.

Called and explained that our front loading washing maching would stop right at the rinse cycle with a loud grinding noise. They sent out a repairman that morning who quickly diagnosed the problem (drainage pump), replace it and left us with a working washing machine. Very polite technician and seems like a fair price for getting us up and running so quickly.

This was the second time that Sam has made a repair to our Viking range and I am once again happy with his work! The element in our Viking oven had broken and a first visit diagnosed this problem immediately. The part was then ordered from Viking, which I understand can be difficult, and I was called the day it came in. Oven is back to 100% and I will absolutely call Sam and Appliance Repair Leaders again.

If these are the appliance repair leaders, we need a new regime. The communication from this firm was completely lacking. First, I was told that they would call me with an estimate for the repair. I didn't hear from them, so I had to call back and was told it would take 3-10 days to get the part in. When I again didn't hear from ARL after that time, I called to follow up and told that the part was on national backorder and would not be available for at least eight weeks. This is information that ARL should have called to relay to me; good thing that I took the initiative, so I could cancel my repair and order a new microwave. I am totally disappointed in this service, and am stuck with the $60 service call fee to diagnose the problem (which I actually told them over the phone -- there is only one problem this error code conveys in this brand of microwave!)

The contractor quoted me about $300 for the job. I thought it was a little steep and told him I had an Angie's coupon, which he said he would apply. He told me the defrost part was very expensive ($150) and brought in a generic part with just a model number stamped on it - it was not packaged. He defrosted the packed ice, installed the part and was finished in about an hour and 15 minutes. He did an excellent job. When he gave me the bill there was a charge of $365; he applied the $55 Angie's discount and it came to $328. I barely paid attention to the bill because I had all this food that was rapidly defrosting and I had to find a solution so I could save some of it. He asked for a check and I said the ad stated they accepted credit cards. He reluctantly agreed to take the card and started writing down all the card numbers! I told him this was illegal - that credit card numbers had to be truncated. He said he did not have a machine for that so we called the office and I gave the card number over the phone. The next day I looked at the bill and noticed how high it was. I called GE and GE said the part was $76, free shipping, and a year's warranty. (ARL's warranty is three months.) I contacted ARL and spoke with Victor, one of the managers. He was polite and professional - I gave him the part number and the GE phone number and asked him to check it out for himself. He called back and said they bought parts in bulk, which is why there was no identifying information, but they used no generic parts. If that was the case then it should have cost them far less than the $76 price GE quoted me and the $150 the technician quoted, as I was a retail buyer! The only concession Victor made was to apply the service call charge to the bill (which should have been applied when I first got the bill). I asked him if he could do better than that. He said he could extend the warranty to six months but that was it.

The heating element in our older model Matag electric dryer just stopped working in our recently purchased condo unit. Once again Angie's List came through. Appliance Repair Leaders send out a repairman to check it out and give us a price to repair the dryer on the same day I called! Victor came back and installed the part two days later. Nice guy. No mess. $50 coupon.

After the technician left, I researched the error codes on the internet. I discovered a list of troubleshooting ideas. The first step was to check the pressure tube for holes. I took off the top of the washer and inspected the hose. I found a hole and was able to fix the washer for $3.00. Multiple loads have now been washed with no problems.
Description of Work: Our front load washer was overfilling will water. The technician arrived to the house on time. He took the top off of the washer and the bottom plate. He started the wash cycle and used a flashlight to look inside the washer. Once the washer stopped and started flashing its error code, the technician spent several minutes trying to get the washer to drain. He asked for a bucket, which I supplied. He opened a drain and let the water drain into the bucket. He then began putting on bottom panel and top back on the washer. He asked me how I wanted to play for the service call; check or credit card. I asked him if he had fixed the washer and he said no. The $69.95 charge was for the service call. I asked him what was wrong with the washer he said it was the Control Board. I asked for an estimated cost for fixing the washer. He said he did not know. The office would call be with the estimate in the next couple of days. I told him that I was not going to pay anything until I had an estimated. He became agitated and told me that all companies charge service call fees. I reiterated that I would not pay anything until I have an estimate. He went into his truck to call his office. After about 10 minutes he came back with an estimate of $385 (after a discount). He also lowered the service call fee to $49.95. I paid the fee and he left.

I feel compelled to update this review based on later experience with this bill. There was a mathematical error on the invoice in their favor, and despite repeated calls and emails, they ignored the problem. =old review below= They came out same day, they were courteous, and on-time. Turns out that the refrigerator had a burned out circuit board, and they showed us the visibly burnt component. They replaced the part, cleaned the coils, and the refrigerator works great now. The cost was $400... I have no idea how that compares with others so can't rate on price. Overall, I was pleased with the service.

By late Wednesday, after not hearing back from the technician, I called the shop to see if they had the part. I was told the technician who looked at my dryer was out on another job, but would call me back later that afternoon. He did not. It is now Sunday and no one has called with any status on the part they recommended. This lack of follow-up is the sole reason for my low rating. Other aspects of the service call went well and the technician seemed to know what he was doing. Even so, we're without an appliance we rely on and I don't sense this company shares my sense of urgency to return it to service.
Description of Work: I called on Monday to see if someone could come out to look at our dryer. They set me up with an appointment Tuesday morning. The technician arrived within the window I was given and performed a few diagnostic checks. He determined the control board was faulty and said he would call me back later that day or the next day once he checked to see if they had one in stock or if they would have to order one.

Once the tech came to assess my oven he determined the issue was likely a faulty control board display which sends the signal to the oven for it to ignite. The display was around $300 to replace as I looked it up on an online appliance part warehouse my wife referred me to but wasn't in stock. The tech told me he would research the part cost and availablity and call me back with a quote likely the next day. Several days go by and I have not heard back from the tech. I call the number he called me from and no answer. I called the company back to let them know I was waiting on a quote from the tech and he has not followed up with me, I was put on hold and the person on the phone was also unable to get in touch with the tech but said someone would call me back when they had. Another couple of hours pass and I don't receive a call back. I call again to the company for an update. They inform me that the tech says the part is not available and they would have to send the display in to be repaired/refabricated and it would take close to 3 weeks to get back from Whirlpool(the manufacturer). I said its already been over a week since the unit was not working an entire month without the use of the oven didn't seem reasonable to me especially when I didn't get the impression they were entirely sure the problem was this $300 display. I decided to seek a second opinion, this time calling whirlpool directly. After purchasing an extenden warranty on the range which covered all repair costs and parts needed I scheduled a certified whirlpool technician (from another repair company) to come out. After having the display fabricated (which took a week and a half not 3 weeks) it was installed and the oven still didn't work. The whirlpool certified technician determined that the issue was not the display unit but a faulty value, he had a replacement in his truck and within 30 min the oven was working perfectly. Purchasing the extended warranty turned out to be a smart move because it covered the cost of the control board (which wasn't the issue) as well as the replacement value which fixed the problem. Had I stuck with Appliance Repair Leaders LLC I would have paid more, waited twice as long and still be stuck with a broken oven. I can tolerate a missed diagnosis as I am sure some of this requires troubleshooting but as a customer I should NOT have to constantly call you for information, status updates, pricing. Customer service is more than just being polite on the phone.
Description of Work: The company charged around $60.00 to come out an assess what was wrong with my oven. It is a gas range and while the top of the range was working properly the oven would not ignite.

He showed up on time and was very professional. All he had to do was flip a switch that the condo association had turned off and forgot to turn back on. The call was made to them in the evening by my wife and they had a time for us the very next morning. They were prompt and the service technician called me before he arrived to say he was on his way which was greatly appreciated. He figured out the issue right away, went to the truck to get the part and came in to tell me it was a switch and the cost was $225 to which I was a bit shocked. He did remind me of the coupon on Angie's list which I did not realize was offered and this dropped the price to $170 which was way better. Still I thought the price was a bit high, as the tech only was here about 15 minutes. But given the responsiveness and courtesy and ability to get it done, you do get what you pay for. Overall I give them an A.

The people I spoke to on the phone told me 6-8pm and by 5:45, Salim was calling me to tell me he was on his way and make sure that I was home. When I got home around 6:10, he was actually waiting for me. He came in and got right to business. I was looking for him to hopefully fix both the dryer and garbage disposal. He quickly tested the dryer and figured out what the problem was. Unfortunately, it's a duct issue (the ones that go from the dryer to the ceiling or wherever they go) and his company does not clean those out. He took his time explaining the issue to me and once he was satisfied that I understood how to proceed with that, he moved on to the garbage disposal. He turned it on and quickly realized that the issue was with the motor, and told me that it would be simpler (and cheaper) to replace the disposal than try to fix the motor. That's what I had heard from other peopel who had similar experiences and since he had a brand new disposal in the truck, I chose to replace it on the spot. Salim seemed to work with me as much as he could on price and I very much appreciated that. I don't have a great knowledge on what garbage disposals cost and whatnot but given that $60 of that was the diagnostic for the dryer, I feel reasonably good about the price. I would probably reccomend researching prices and things before contacting them, but he was very professional and polite and got the job done quite quickly and effectively. Thanks again, Salim!
