Services we offer
Tree service - tree management, plant health care, crown pruning, thinning, deep root fertilization, restoration, tree & stump removal, cabling, crane service, firewood & wood chipping. Snow removal, bobcat/loader, salt & sand application.
I was very pleased with the result and will continue to use their services for any future tree work.
Description of Work: They limbed up two trees, with major branches/limbs, up 15 feet (5-15 branches on each tree), along with a few limbs off of two other large trees in our back yard. Additionally, they took out two 10' tall holly bushes and one 10' tall Rose of Sharon. They ground those three stumps and another very large stump from a tree that was removed 10 years ago. I was very pleased with the result and will continue to use their services for any future tree work.

I've used them once before (for tree work) and can't say enough good about them. The crew is so professional and hard working it's amazing. It's hard to spot the guy in charge because they are all busy. Their division of labor is so coordinated and well oiled, no one sits around. And they all seem to know what needs to be done and when. If a guy runs out of branches to carry to the chipper, he finds something else to do, someone else to help. Most of the large Hickory was leaning over our roof and they did a great job of making sure nothing fell on the roof. Same thing with the Oak leaning very far over our neighbors fence. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire this company again. Aside: Very different from the company Dominion Electric uses for tree work where there's 1 worker and 4 supervisors watching, doing nothing.
Description of Work: They cut down 1 very large Poplar, 1 large Hickory which was mostly leaning over our house, and 1 Oak leaning heavily over the neighbors property. They ground the stumps for all three trees and inspected and trimmed a damaged branch on another very tall Oak tree. I requested about 20 pieces of the Hickory cut into firewood lengths and they made a pile of ~30 pieces.

They failed to show up. My dealings with Absolute Tree began in June, when they came out, looked at the tree and emailed me (on June 28) a written estimate for $425 for the service. This was the lowest bid of four I got (2 at $450, one at $575). Unfortunately the derecho storm came the next day and I have a summer full of email correspondence with the Davis family (who run Absolute Tree) as to when they could come out. I understood that they and all the tree companies had higher-paying "emergency" work for most of July and maybe even into August. I would email them every few weeks to see if they were scheduling "routine" work and sometimes I'd get a response back from them within a few more weeks saying "not yet." Okay. I understood. But on at least one occasion I got no response whatsoever until I wrote them again weeks later. Finally, in early September, they wrote me to say they could come out on September 14. I immediately emailed my response back to them that it was great, and I took off from work to supervise when they showed up. They never did. Period. No email, no phone call, no response to my email that something came up and they had to reschedule. I want to emphasize that they were the ones who picked the date they could come - I've got the email so there was no misunderstanding as might happen with a telephone call. I gave up on them and arranged for another estimate from a different company, and my tree limb was removed two weeks later.

This is Advice to the next consumer: 1. Make sure to talk with the estimator in person at your home - This company takes information over the phone, then schedules their own time when they come out to see you. We thought we had a scheduled appointment, but the estimator came on their own time and recorded the work order without discussing with us. 2. Make sure work order matches what you want - We tried to clarify what was wrong with the estimator's write-up in detail/writing, and was told that we could work with the workers to adjust accordingly when they arrived; so we made this appointment on the weekend when we were at home. 3. Make sure to follow-up constantly - We heard nothing for weeks, then had to call to find out what happened. 4. Make sure to be home during the actual work - We helped this company out when they wanted to work one day earlier than scheduled, but our main POC wasn't home, and they did not honor what they told us in the e-mail. 5. Have a work order available for the workers when they arrive - The workers for this company showed up without a work order, and asked us for a copy, which was then used against us since it was initially wrong, and didn't include our modifications. 6. Make sure the workers do the entire job - The guys left the job incomplete, then had to return after sun-down to finish the remaining work. 7. Don't complain - The owner of this company is rude, and claims about how much free service he is giving you if you dispute the completeness of the work. He knows that we adjusted the work order, we waited patiently for weeks, we allowed him at the last minute to avoid scheduling his workers over the weekend, and we even endured time delays due to his computers being down. 8. Go with another contractor. They considered this $800 job a menial job and that showed in the attitude. Go with a company who cares no matter what size job you have.

We contacted several tree companies after the storm damage to our trees, and this was the only company that would give us an approximate date as to when they could come out to do the work. As it was, I did have to call several times to schedule them, but eventually they worked us into their calendar. They did a very good job of removing two trees--a tulip poplar and a white pine, along with the many branches that had broken from nearby shrubs and smaller trees. There was some damage to our lawn from the trees falling. But generally their work was very good.
Description of Work: This company removed two trees that had been severely damaged by the derecho that hit our community in late June. They also ground up the stumps.

We contacted Absolute Tree, Inc in late August 2012 and Ashley came out the next day to look at the work. We had a proposal in hand within a day. The price (even before the 10% Angie's List discount) was very competitive, We had some difficulty scheduling the work as we wanted to plan it for a Friday afternoon when someone would be home. This combined with some emergency tree work due to storm damage led to some difficulty in scheduling the work. This is understandable and really did not cause much of a problem. The issue was with communication. There were problems with hearing back from them to settle on a final date. I understand that they had problems with their computer scheduling program, but it would have been comforting to get a phone call to let us know what was going on. We finally confirmed to get the work done on September 28, 2012. Once scheduled, the crew was punctual, very professional, thorough and quick. The clean up left the yard better than when they started. They made sure that we received exactly what we expected. I would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: If it was up to price, service, professionalism, etc., they would have gotten an "A". But I had to downgrade them to a B because of the difficulties we had communicating with them and confirming a date for the work. In their defense, we did tell them that we did not have an emergency situation, and our timeframe fell within the same dates as a couple of big storms creating emergency work for them, but a phone call or two to work with us on a schedule would have been appreciated.

I called 9/14 with a request for the company to come out for an estimate on removing some branches, and consulation regarding a possible sick tree. When calling there was significant background noise and the person I spoke with took time getting organized to take my information. My address, phone number, email and details regarding my request were communicated. She stated someone would be coming out soon, and I requested Wednesday or Friday as I was going to be home those days. She said the estimate would be emailed to me. The following friday 9/21 I called the company again and asked about the status of someone coming out for the estimate. The guy on the phone stated there were server problems and he would call me back about the status, but that someone had probably already come out and they had sent the estimate to the wrong email. I have received no phone call back, and no email yet. The guy also stated that service is at least 4 weeks out. Very dissapointed with the lack of response.

The service and work was excellent. When we had tree work that needed to be done in our Cluster, I had the company come in for a quote. Their quote was the lowest for the most services, (cut down the trees, grind the stumps, remove the large roots that were above ground and finally haul everything away.) The only complaint I have is that it is sometimes hard to reach them...

We had set a date for the work to be performed, but a week before the scheduled date arrived, we had a fairly severe windstorm and Absolute Tree contacted us to reschedule... or, more accurately, they said they couldn't be there on that date (because they had lots of post-storm cleanup work to do), but did not set a revised date. I waited three weeks and wrote them to inquire when the work would be performed. They replied they still had a week and a half's worth of storm cleanup work to do, and then they'd be returning to their normal routine. FIVE weeks later, I still hadn't heard from them, so I wrote them back and asked for a work date again. Two days after that, I was CC'ed on an email from one of their employees to another, asking whether I'd been scheduled yet. Nothing happened for two more weeks. I wrote them again to point that out, and their response was to ask for my phone number to discuss the matter further. I refused, unwilling to proceed without getting everything in writing. So they wrote back, saying they could do the work that Friday. And so, after numerous delays with negligible contact (original proposal was accepted in May), they finally performed the work (in September). They did indeed haul away the trunk and the limbs, and they did indeed grind up the stump, but they left me with a pile of sawdust and wood chips in my front yard, which apparently is NOT in their scope of work to haul away.
Description of Work: We contacted Absolute Tree to remove a dead tree in our front yard. The tree was about the same height as my two-story townhouse. The estimate included cutting down the tree, hauling away the limbs and trunk, and grinding down the stump below the ground surface.

We are sorry for the delay. The Deracho storm produced work and conditions that we are still working on to date. We did send emails to all scheduled work before the storm that work would be delayed and if other arrangements had to be made we understood. Our staff is sorry that this did not get done in a timely manner. As for the wood chips from a stump removal, they always stay on site unless conracted to be removed. This has been a tough year keeping up with the demand. We have hired 6 new full time employees and 1 more full time sales/Arborist.

I contacted the office Tuesday evening when I discovered the tree fell and was blocking the road. I was informed someone would come out first thing in the morning. I provided them pictures of the damage and they stated a quote would be emailed to me. Well I never received the quote via email, I just got a text message with the amount. When I then texted them to find out when they were coming I was informed Thursday. I contacted the office and they explained how they were all the way across town and it was too much traffic to get to my location. This potential customer will not use this company because they could not keep their word.

A big dead tree was leaning over our backyard and we had three companies come out to give estimates to remove it. While we were comparing the estimates, the tree fell over completely (taking out a fence but luckily nothing else). We had decided to go with Absolute Tree and they fit us in within the first week and removed it on a Saturday when nobody was home. They did a great job. They even knocked a couple hundred off the original estimate because the tree was down by the time they came (although they did have to go up a nearby healthy tree to remove a branch that had been damaged). The only problem was that they didn't call me to confirm they were coming, so my tenants were surprised to come home and have it done. Since it was a nice surprise at a great price, no problem. I would use Absolute Tree again for sure.

The team of tree service workers that spent the better part of a day at my house were very professional and courteous. They arrived on time and they did excellent tree work. They were conscientious to not damage the yard or other trees/bushes and they cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. I had a very good experience. I used Absolute Tree Service several weeks later remove trees that were damaged due to the derecho storm at my parents? house. That experience went very well too. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who needs tree service from a professional and trustworthy group of folks.

Almost everything exceeded my expectations. The estimator happened to be in our neighborhood when I called. In less than an hour he called me from my back yard and went over exactly what we wanted done. The quote was in my email that evening. I signed the contract about 2 weeks later and emailed it but did not receive a confirmation until I contacted them again. A week later I contacted them to find out if the work had been scheduled. To my surprise, the crew showed up 2 days later. The crew did a terrific job. I have had tree work done before by other companies and there is always some bit of mess left behind. Not with these guys - there wasn't even a single leaf left on the lawn! The stumps were ground so well that it was impossible to tell where the trees were. And the chips from the stump grinding were so fine and well mixed with dirt that I used to to build a vegetable garden. The only reason I gave a 'B' in punctuality was because of the delay on communications. I still would give them a very high recommendation!

Bought the big deal from AngiesList for Absolut Tree --- big mistake. The guy showed up on time and everything but $150 does not buy anything with this company. He walked around and gave me an estimate of $1400 for cleanup of 3 trees and cutting off one. I din't want to spend so much, so ended up not asking him for any service. So basically ended up paying 150 for an estimate. If this was a fair business, they would return my money, but no one has followed up. I am off big deals due to this experience. AngiesList needs to do a better job about such contractors.

The whole experience was frustrating due to the numerous delays. I waited about a month to get the job done. They were supposed to show up one Monday and......nothing. No call, no show. When I called, I was put off and told I would be contacted later. I had already arranged to have the day off work. It would have been nice to have known the day before that they weren't coming. At the very least, I should have received a call early that morning. The owner was very rude on the phone. Had he been the one giving the estimate, I never would have had the job done.
