We have used Manor Works for jobs that are both large and small, interior and exterior. The owners/estimators and the painters are all punctual, fair, and committed to quality. We used them on a carpentry project to repair a rotting bay window and they replaced it with PVC and painted it and it looks fantastic. They painted our shutters and exterior doors, and the house looks great. We are using Manor Works to transform the interior of the home as well - they have painted two out of three levels, and we'll have them back for the third soon. The house is now filled with bold and interesting colors, applied beautifully without error.
"While the member lays out an interesting case, it is neither a fair or accurate assessment of the events surrounding their project. It is important to note the project was an unfinished basement that was being remodeled. The basement had not been completed and was uninhabited. Other contractors were also working in the space at the same time. It was a messy and disorganized project prior to our arrival. As to the issue of trash being left at the project, what the member is failing to mention is that the rubbish we created was placed in a sealed trash bag and placed in the center of the unfinished room. The bags were then removed at the end of the project. In regards to the preparation on the walls, our contract exclusively covered taping and applying joint compound to the walls. If we were contracted to paint the walls, we would have performed additional preparation work to the walls. As far as the number of employees we had working on site, this was limited by the fact that we were correcting the mistakes made by the drywall contractor. Because their work was sub-standard, we had to apply more joint compound than normal. This increased the dry-time and limited the allowable number of employee’s onsite at any one time. What the member fails to mention is that we scheduled our employees on a Saturday to accommodate the production schedule of other vendors, even though we did not cause the delay. In regards to the dust, this is the real issue that upset the member. Drywall work is dusty by its vary nature. By the members own admission, and confirmed by the Owners onsite inspection, we set up plastic in the workspace. The member is convinced that we purposefully did not install plastic on the last day of a four-day project. This is absurd. A more likely scenario is the fine dry wall dust floated in the air before settling out over a several day period, after the plastic was removed. Finally, I did not make an appointment with the member as they assert. While I am happy to inspect any project we perform, I had not made an appointment in this case. Given these facts, I urge Angie’s List members to weight these comments accordingly."
"I wish the members experience was more memorable, but I guess if the paint job lasts that is the only thing that matters. In fact, the industry average paint job lasts 4.9 years, whereas the average Manor Works paint job lasts 7.1 years. Perhaps the member will appreciate the project more in the future."
"We appreciate the feedback from the member. They clearly were pleased with the quality of the production work, but dissatisfied with the intangible factors on the service side of our business. I apologize for our failure to communicate what was happening with our schedule. We will take steps to improve in the future. In this particular case, the project for the member was an exterior, and therefore weather dependent. The weather during the time frame the project was scheduled was extremely rainy. In fact, it rained more than 50% of the available days during the month. Because we also perform interior work, we re-arranged the schedule to try to remain productive and maintain our schedule. As a result, it took longer to finish the members’ exterior project, as we were simultaneously finishing the interior jobs we started on the days it rained. Regardless, we pride our self on the ability to perform high quality work, and in a process that runs smoothly without surprises. We will strive to learn from our mistakes, and improve our customers’ experience."
