Considering all of the positive reviews, I was excited to contact IWC to have my old gutters replaced. The previous homeowners had installed the gutters incorrectly and over the years the rain water has caused the front sidewalk to sink. I wanted to make sure to have the gutters replaced prior to repairing the sidewalk.
I first contacted IWC through their online/website contact form. I did not hear back from them after about a week so I contacted them by phone. The receptionist was very friendly and scheduled a time for an estimate the following week, Monday at 12pm. When 1pm approached on Monday, I again called the receptionist to find out if they were still planning on coming by. I had scheduled time to be home during my work day so I was a little perturbed that the appointment was not kept. She said the estimator was late and she would have him call me.
About 30 minutes later, the estimator called me to explain that he was busy and running late. At that time he asked what the job was and he quoted me a price to have it done. I told him that sounded fine so there was no need for him to visit the house. He said he would schedule the job for later in the week and be in touch. That was a little over two weeks ago and I have still not heard from IWC.
If the job was too small or if there was not time in the schedule for it to be completed, I wish they would have just been honest with me from the beginning. Now I have wasted another three weeks waiting on this job and winter is coming. This has already happened to me before which is precisely the reason I joined Angie's List.

The crew arrived when they said they would, worked through difficult weather conditions to get the job done quickly and well. They were extremely helpful to my 90 year old father when he was trying to negotiate the walk from the car to the house around the dumpster. They cleaned up after the job, and while a few pieces remain due to snow, they have promised to come back and get the rest once the snow is gone. The roof was quite old and had lots of problems; that they were able to get the job done in two days is almost a miracle.

They did a great job. The workers were very professional, worked hard all day and cleaned up their mess every day. They brought a big dumpster and put it on our driveway where they put all the old shingles and any other materials that were discarded. The roof looks great. I'm very happy with the color and glad I used Intermountain West Contractors. Their prices were the best also.

We were happy with work until 2014 when a window came loose and leaning inside the area - not attached to side of window frame. The window frame was made of concrete. I got fold out and tried to call Intermountain West Contactors from the card given to me by Geral Sommers in 2001. Said number disconnected. I thought they were out of business. Caulking was the only thing holding in windows and time had deteriorated the caulking.
Another window came loose a month ago. This time I went to the internet and found the company and found Gerald Sommers name so I called and told them about my problem.
A repair man came to our house on 6 November 2015 and put screws in all 10 windows and re-caulked the windows.
I am real happy about getting the windows done and will use this company again in the future as they fixed our window problem 14 years after installation of windows.

The owner Gerald came out and drew up the sales contract. The work was started and completed in one day, as promised. The crew did a good job of cleaning up. Whenever I had a question during the process, I called Chris and she had the answer. We are pleased with the results. The roof looks great!

Stop and search no further ? if you have roof work needed, this is the contractor you want.
Watching this crew was like watching poetry in motion. At one time there were 11 individuals on the roof and I can?t recall any verbal instructions or finger pointing on what tasks were in need of being accomplished. All of the crew knew what needed to be done and all shared the same skill sets.
At the time of this posting, Intermountain West Contractors are only one of two Certified Utah Owens Corning Platinum contractors and there are only 272 Platinum certified roofing contractors in the US. You may think ?what is that?. Once explained, you?ll be amazed at the levels of required quality assurances a Platinum certified contractor must meet which allowed me obtaining a 50 year warranty along with other quality assurances that would take too long to explain in this posting.
The quality of workmanship was outstanding. The owner Gerald explained everything clear and as detailed as needed and Joe?s crew did an amazing job.

My experience with IWC is spot on CONSISTENT with most of the other reviews. Consistency when spending this much money is a big deal to me ;)
IWC was great from start to finish. Fair price, quality work, quality materials, etc.
One thing I really liked is Gerald helped with the big decision by suggesting a color for the shingles. When he gave the quote (it was the 3rd one I received....) he asked my why I wouldn't want to go for it? I couldn't think of any reason so away we went.
Shout out to Marco and his crew...They worked form sunup to sundown the 1st day and were cleaned up and gone about 4PM the 2nd day. Watching these guys in action makes me feel like I have never put in a honest day of work in my life!
All in all, if you are in the market for a new roof, you would actually do yourself a disservice by NOT at least getting a quote from Gerald.
I was pretty nervous about this project but it was basically a painless experience.

Intermountain West Contractors did a fantastic job on our new roof! They started as scheduled and finished in 3 days with 3 guys working on our roof. They cleaned up every day when they left and made sure to tarp off part of the roof when it started to rain. I got 4 bids on our roof and they are very competitively priced. I would recommend them to anyone needing a roof redone or rain gutters installed or replaced.

I understand there are fewer than five Platinum rated companies in the U.S. and IMWC is one of them. In our estimation this rating is entirely correct for this company for many reasons. First, the owner, Gerald Sommer, came to our house to inspect and evaluate the work requested. He thoroughly went through the entire process, explaining the quality of the materials used and within 30-45 minutes made us a bid. Second, nothing was emailed to either of us which we really appreciated because we're having a quite a bit of work done on our house and it helped not to have to wait for a response. Third, Gerald responded to our initial response very quickly and came to our house within only a day or two. Fourth, he took his time conveying all of the ins-and-outs to, patient to answer all of my questions, was not condescending and I never once had the feeling he was trying to "get one over on me" because I am a woman. Fifth, Gerald and I spoke a number of times over the phone before they started the job and he always responded to my calls. In other words, he always answered each time I called - no voicemail. Sixth, his foreman, Joe, was great. He and his workers arrived time, worked diligently until the job was done (one day), and cleaned up fabulously. Joe was the last person to comb the yard for any stray nails, old roof shingle parts, etc. And finally, Joe took extra precaution to protect all my flower beds directly underneath two sides of our home. When the work was done, not one plant was damaged.
IMWC's work was first-rate hands down. Without reservation we recommend them highly.

He did come as scheduled on Tuesday and gave a very good/reasonable price on fixing our problem. Said it was a one day job and he would get me in immediately. Offered a small discount due to the hassle of rescheduling. He was very professional and nice. He even looked over the rest of my roof to make sure there were not any other issues. I will not be using them this time due that I did finally get in touch with the builder so he is taking care of the unfortunate leak.

We were impressed with Gerald. He was friendly and easy to talk to. If there were concerns or questions, for the most part he got right back to me. There was some confusion over extra footage after the job was done but was quickly resolved. We and 2 of our neighbors were able to put items in the dumpster. One item we had, the crew carried and put in the dumpster. His crew was nice, polite and worked very hard.

Not only did IWC quote us the best price of the 3 roofers we contacted, but also did superior work. Everything was done to perfection. They attended to every detail, like painting the flashing to match the roof color, and inspecting all of their work to make certain everything was done properly. They even checked the seating of the skylights once again at my request. They also completely cleaned up the debris and nails. John, the representative who worked with us, was completely responsive to our every request. He treated every question we brought up with respect. He answered or returned our calls immediately. His philosophy is to treat every customer the way he would want to be treated. Every company should have a representative like John. We have never before been treated as well as he treated us

I did my homework and after extensive research, chose Gerald and Intermountain West to roof my home. Our home is close to 6000 sqft with very steep roof pitches. After reading many many reviews from Angie?s list and other sites, I called and made an appointment with Gerald. He took quite a bit of time to educate me about roofing, so that I would understand the difference between a well-done roofing job and all the rest. He explained the process, materials, and guarantee step-by-step. After our meeting, I was further convinced that I was making the right choice.
For reasons beyond his control, weather, crew injury, etc., we had to move scheduling a couple of times which didn?t cause any issue for us. However, when we signed the contract, I let Gerald know that one week in August was off limits due to a daughter getting married and family coming in from out of town. Well, because of the previous schedule changes, there was some confusion and the crew showed up on Monday of the forbidden week to begin the work. As soon as Gerald realized the mixup, he called and assured me it would be done before Wednesday, when the family was to arrive.
He had crews working from sun up to sun down an I counted 12 men at one point. In the end, as I was pulling out of the driveway to go to the airport to pick up family on Wednesday, his crew was pulling away?.job done and not a scrap or nail in sight. The roof looks incredible and I couldn?t be more pleased. So?despite a bit of confusion?on both of our parts?.he followed through
with his commitment and went to extreme lengths to keep his word and finish my roof for the important week of the wedding.
I give my highest recommendation and have 3 neighbors that have indicated that they want him to do their work.
My neighbors are still shaking their heads with the outcome. Thanks Gerald and Team. You guys are the best!

Great Company! I would highly recommend them to do any work associated with your roof. They were courteous, efficient and highly professional. When it comes to price, I don't think there is anyone out there who can beat them. All I needed is a new roof without removing the old one (recover). I had two different quotes with two other contractors. One quoted $5,850.00 the second quoted $ 5650. How much would you guess Intermountain West Contractors quoted? $3,655.00! This contractor is exceptionally. If you have a roof project you are thinking about, give them a try and you won't be disappointed I promise!

There is not enough space on this review to give the appreciation of a job well done by this company! From start-to-finish, we couldn't ask for anything more from this roofing team than what was provided. After meeting with the owner Gerald, who was punctual for our initial inspection of the roof, he sat down with us and mapped out a complete plan of what was required for our aging 1992 roof. Gerald was spot on every detail. We had many issues (mainly rotting) and missing many required ice/water shields from our roof. It was his honesty that really saved the day for our home in the end. After getting other bids, and analyzing our needs, it kept leading us back to Intermountain West Roofing. We chose to have this "family" of roofers for this project and they did not disappoint. It was amazing to us the punctuality, respect, knowledge, and dedication this crew had for our project. And the care of ensuring our property was kept in a safe-free zone and kept as clean as possible before, during and after the completion of the project. The workers were very respectful - the lead man Joe and his crew get a HUGE THANK YOU for a job well done!! They did such a great job and earned our utmost respect as homeowners, we wanted to express our thanks with a 24-pack of beer to the entire team! Job well done, and if you don't hire these "professionals" you are making a mistake! Just an amazing job by the entire crew!

It was in a day and a half. All subcontractors were organized and showed up when they were supposed to. Roofers were very polite and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The result is beautiful and I can think of no complaints. There were extraordinarily punctual.

This is an update from a review written on 6/26/15 and 1/1/15. After a problem with communication and the owner, Gerald, personally taking care of the problem, I had a complete reroof done. I gave an A for responsiveness, although I still had some problems with communication. During the project, the crew was right on time, cleaned up as they worked, and finished the project earlier than estimated. There was a lot of rain following the completion and I did not have any of the previous problems I was having with my roof. My roof looks great. I would recommend this company.
