A few weeks later we noticed that the outside compressor was having trouble staying on when it was hottest outside. Matt returned and repaired this problem free of charge.

"We are sorry to hear you feel that way. Our tune up special includes checking the refrigerant level and if it is low the technician would not be doing his job if he did not let you know that. A central air system that is low on refrigerant will not cool well, be less efficient, and can freeze up the inside coil."

Two days ago, on July 13th, we were removing a wood fence on our property and a man stopped to see if we were giving it away. As we were talking he mentioned he is an air conditioning service man. I told him about our conpressor going out and he said he would be willing to give us a second opinion/quote. I paid him $75 for a service call to look at it. Within 15 minutes of his arrival I had cool air. He said when we replaced the furnace this winter there was a wire that sends a signal from the thermostat to the air conditioner that was unplugged but not replugged. He was able to diagnose the problem by using a voltage tester that showed no voltage going to the unit.Â
Needless to say, I was happy to have a $75 dollar fix, but started thinking about why Humphrey wasn't able to do the same thing. I have to conclude that either the service man wasn't qualified or they were taking advantage of my lack of knowledge and trying to sell an expensive repair. Either way, I'm pretty disappointed that we have sweltered in the heat for a month saving up for a repair that we didn't even need.

I have spoken with the technician and he has explained it was an oversight on his part. He is also deeply apologetic and understands that he should have been more thorough. From my understanding he has talked with you and you have agreed to let us come out with a manager and do a full tune up on the central air system at no charge as well as refund the diagnostic fee that you paid. We appreciate the second chance and look forward to the opportunity to redeem ourselves."
I had to call because my central air stopped working. It has been in the 90 degree weather so my house started heating up fast. I called Humphrey Heating and Air, because I have used them in the past and I feel they are very trustworthy. The worker was very polite, worked fast, and told me everything that he did. He was knowledgeable and had my central air working to cool down my house in no time. I would absolutely refer them to anyone in need of heating or air. I will definitely call them again.

The install took an entire day, and the guys stayed late to finish the job. They left the area tidy afterwards.
Because the install was done in late March, it wasn't until about six weeks later that the system actually turned itself on to cool the house. Unfortunately the system did not work as it should've, and I was pretty freaked out about that, having just spent $5,000! I called the company on a SUNDAY. Two of the guys who originally had installed the system came to my house within maybe an hour ON THEIR DAY OFF to fix the problem and retest the system. I was very impressed by their commitment to their work (and I hope their bosses are too!)
So far the A/C is working as advertised, although not perfectly because of the limitation of the vents in an old house. (My choice to not replace them.)
I am very satisfied with the excellent work that Humphrey's did, and would gladly recommend them to anyone with a challenging HVAC project.
