I call this service provider and they were able to come out the same day! Two technicians arrived at 10AM to look at the existing water heater and gas lines. I explained that I was selling the house and needed a basic 50gallon water heater to replace the existing one, which was old and not within Dallas code. They provided a price which was competitive and explained the installation requirements for the new water heat under Dallas code. They also explained the timing of how long they would take. John P provided me a quote on spot with him Ipad for the entire scope and review everything with me. Both technicians were very professional and completed a clean install in the timeframe they quoted. I was very please with their responsiveness, pricing and professionalism. I would recommend this company to others on Angie's and friend as they did a great job!

They were able to send someone out within two hours.  They were very professional, wore covers over their shoes, explained what they were going to do, etc. They had to put a little extra work into the toilet but got it working properly again.  The faucet  also appeared fixed.  Included in their check up, they check every drain and faucet in the house to make sure everything was in working order.  They also fixed a few of the sink stoppers that seemed to low and caused slow water draining.  After they left, I noticed that the faucet was leaking through the handle.  I called back immediately and they made an appointment to come first thing the next morning. They fixed the problem in 10 minutes or less.I was very pleased with the service.

Leo and Keith arrived on time and were very professional and personable throughout the process.  They explained everything to me and paid extra attention to ensure no mess was created while transporting the water heaters in and out of the house (the old ones will leak water from the soaked insullation inside).  After watching them work I'm glad I didn't try to do it on my own.  Harvey West did a good job for me and I'll call them again when my other water heater goes out.  Hopefully that won't be anytime soon.

I Just called to schedule an estimate to repair a shower drain that another plumber had found.  The reception person was very friendly and helpful, but when I was transferred to the plumber, he was not at all helpful, was rude, and almost seemed irritated at dealing with the issue, which would have been fine, if he just would have said that.  Rather, I was told he would have to tear up the shower before he could give me an estimate??  Kind of defeats the point of an estimate.  Would not use in the future, can't imagine how customers are treated if it's that bad on the phone!
Response from Harvey West Plumbing
"We always appreciate the feedback and apologize that you feel you were treated poorly. The plumber was attempting to explain to you by phone that for your particular situation, the best option would be to contact a tile company prior to the plumber. He gave you a range of quotes for free by phone as we have done hundreds of jobs similar to yours; the quote over the phone was for the range of the most minor repair to most complicated repair as it is impossible to give an exact cost without having access to the problem under your shower. Unfortunately with your job, the only way to give you an exact quote is after having demo work to the shower, accessing the pipe and knowing exactly what we are dealing with. His effort was to save you the service call fee prior to any demo work to come out to only give you the exact same range of quotes he had already given over the phone. Again we apologize that our advice and attempt to avoid charging you to come out before the job is accessible came across as unhelpful."

I purchased an Angie's List deal for this company to come out and inspect and drain my water heater (it was really bad, it had not been drained in approximately 4 years) and inspect my plumbing.  Two technicians were sent.  Both gentlemen were prompt and polite.  They were very knowledgeable, explained everything they were doing to me, answered my questions and gave me a few recommendations regarding my water heater.  I will definitely use this company again for my annual inspections.

I submitted an online request (through Angie's List) for a quote to replace 3 lavatory faucets with units I had already purchased from Home Depot.   Within two hours I had received an email outlining the exact cost of installation for 2 types of faucets.  Later that same day, I received a call from Mr. West asking if I had received the email.  He explained that he had quoted for different  types of faucets as my email was not explicit on which type I wished to be installed.  I clarified what I needed and let him know that I was getting other estimates for comparison.

Two weeks later, I called Harvey West Plumbing and scheduled the installation.  They were very accommodating with my schedule.

The team of two plumbers showed up on time which is saying a lot for any contractor.  I noticed one of them put on shoe covers before coming into the house but the other did not.  I showed them to the bathrooms and they got started immediately.  However, they immediately had some difficulty with the original homebuilder-installed fixtures.  They admitted that they had never seen a bathroom faucet installed (the under vanity hardware) quite like mine.  (the picture I showed Home Depot was foreign to them, too)  They worked on it for almost 45 minutes before figuring out the trick to removing that particular faucet.  They finally got the first one installed and the other two went very quickly.  I checked each installation for function and leaks before they left with my payment.  The whole process went pretty well.

About 20 minutes after they had left, I discovered that, in fact, a leak was under the vanity of two faucets.  I immediately called Harvey West Plumbing to recall the team before they got too far away.  The team was contacted and they returned to my house within another 20 minutes to fix the problems.  They explained the error that caused the leaks and were very apologetic.  All was good before they left again.

A team of two showed up and promptly went to work. Water heater had been off due to flue being disconnected, so they connected it quickly and fired up the water heater while they let water flush through. While the water was being flushed, I showed one of the guys a couple of issues that the inspector indicated as possible things that will need repair. The plumber inspected them and stated that they're normal for the age of the house and nothing needs to be done. The entire service took almost an hour and by the end of it, the water heater was given a clean bill of health and a weight lifted off of my shoulders with regards to the issues found in the original inspection.

John came out to flush the water heaters.  He got the job done, explained everything to me and left.  I thought this was a great experience until we find out the next morning that there was no hot water in the house.  Called him to get the situation resolved.  It was a Saturday.  He tells me that he is not available to do anything until Monday.  When I told him that this was unacceptable, he informed me that they are closed on the weekend.  Up to now, no apology.  Finally he agreed to come out in an hour. When two hours went by, I called Harvey - the owner of the business.  He was rude and did not want to do anything about it since it was the weekend.  He thought it was fine for me to wait until Monday to get hot water and hung up on me when I told him that was unacceptable.  Finally John came over and found that he had forgotten to turn on a valve.  Found the owner of the business to be more unprofessional than the employee.  Will never use them again.

A waste collection truck accidentally ripped my outdoor gas meter from the ground. Harvey West Plumbing, a company that I had used before, came to the site promptly to seal off the gas leak and to repair the infrastructure so that a new meter could be installed. The crew did the repair work and then arranged for an emergency City building inspection. After the inspection, they restored the site for installation of the new meter. Their prompt and efficient action allowed the gas company to install the new meter that day so that I was without gas service for only a short time.
Harvey West's front office dispatcher and on-site service crews have been extraordinarily cordial, accommodating, helpful, and efficient. I  am happy for the opportunity to recommend them highly and confidently.

Harvey West replaced my water heater a few months ago and I contacted them again regarding 2 toilets that were constantly refilling. I used the contact form on their website and got a call back within an hour. They had an opening that afternoon. Leo and Larry showed up on time, reviewed the toilets, gave me a price, accepted the Angie's List coupon, got all the work done on both toilets, reviewed their work with me, and left in under 45 minutes.

I often see reports where plumbers are listed as expensive, and at $250/toilet, i can understand why someone might think so, especially if they are do-it-yourself kind of person (my dad fixed stuff around the house all the time). I'm not a DIY and am willing to pay for the convenience of not having to make multiple trips to the hardware store to have work like this done right the first time.

The gentlemen were on time, professional and non disruptive. I work from home and and all they required was direction to where the hot water heater was located  They quickly inspected it and drained the water (which probably hasn't happened since the place was built).  When they were finished, they called me out to walk me through what was done and what was found/not found.  All in all it was a great experience.

I paid another plumber $75.00 to fix my leaky faucet and he said all it needed was a new gasket and tighting up. After we paid him and he left, the faucet actually was leaking more. He tightened it so tight, we could not even turn it on or off. We called him several times.  The last call we made, he said he would come back out but it will cost us more money. We said fine, we just wanted it fixed. He never came back. After two months, we contacted Harvey West Plumbing and they came out the next morning on time. John Pierce, our Technician removed the brick (he said he wasn't really a bricker and we agreed for him to go ahead and remove the brick if this is what it will take to fix the faucet). John removed the original builders pipe because it was too small and he installed a new frost freeze faucet. When John  put back the brick, the wall was now even with the wall which has always been sunken right at this faucet. He did a great job putting the brick and mortar back. We were extremely please and finally the work is completed correctly and we won't have to deal with a leaky faucet anymore. Yeah!  I would highly recommend anyone to Harvey West Plumbing . We will certainly use this Plumbing Company Again. Very professional and they know how to do the job right!

I purchased a new gas range. Once the old slide in oven and cook top were removed, we realized that we had to move the gas line. I called and they had someone out within a couple of hours.

Leo and Larry showed up. They looked over the range, gave me a quote, ran to get parts and I thought it was correct when they left. However, we were unable to install the range because of a few minor issues. The gas pipe sticks out too far and the line that runs from the gas pipe to the range is extremely short..so short that you can not slide out the range to hook up the gas.  Someone has to lean over the cabinet and try to reach..which is impossible.

I called once the error was realized and the gentleman on the phone was extremely rude. They did say that they could have someone come out today.

I had to take time off from work today in order for the error to be corrected. It is a very unwelcomed inconvience and one that probably could have been avoided.

I am pleased that they are willing to try to fix the errors and I hope that there is a resolution to the issue. However, I will not use their services in the future.

Important Note: Most of this review is about Sears (grade D-), not West Plumbing (grade A), but I think folks might want to know.

I had called Sears first, since my last water heater was reliable and was a Kenmore.  They are a big company of course, but  the phone sales folks were not that great.  Sears guarantees same day service if the order is placed prior to 12 noon.  My order was placed about 1145am and I was assured (twice) that I would be contacted to set up an installation time that same day.  By 3pm, no call.
I called Sears back and was directed to the installation group.  They said the order didn't get processed until 12:30pm so I would not get installation that day.
I explained that is not what I was told, and also, by the way, no one had bothered to let me know, so I had wasted 3 hours at home waiting for them to call and schedule the installation.
Sears said they would call me the next morning to schedule a new time.  They did call and set up a new time, but since they forgot to pick up the water heater, they were late.  Two men show up from a contract plumbing company, look at the water heater and immediately say it won't fit.  I say that I gave the sales folks the old model number and asked for an exact replacement, so why won't it fit.  They say the new model has more insulation so it is bigger.  I say, why didn't the sales folks ask me to measure it?  Now I have wasted even more time.
They (Sears) say that I have two choices...get a smaller water heater with less gallons (40 gallons-same warranty-12 years) or the same gallons (50) with less warranty (9 years).  I tell them that I have another choice...use someone else, and say thanks anyway.  Bye Bye Sears.
I call West Plumbing and they say they sell Rheem who makes the 12 yr, 50 gallon in the same diameter that I already have, and they will be there the next day.  They show up on time and replace the water heater in two hours and are then on their way... very professional.
Note: Sears was slightly cheaper on the water heater itself, but not significantly.  Customers should know that all contractors may show up and tell you that your installation doesn't meet your City Code requirements and it's going to cost more than they quoted you on the phone..  Cities apparently have learned they can gouge citizens by requiring questionable upgrades.  Sears was way cheaper on the 3 extras required to meet code, but West did meet their price (to their credit).  Just make sure to ask ahead of time what Code issues may need to be addressed on your installation and what the charges may be.  Then check around on the phone to see what different companies charge for these services ...(generally $150-300).  Good Luck and Thanks for listening!

The water heater inspection went fine. As to their professionalism, I had to ask the technicians to take their shoes off since we had new floors installed and there was mud on one tech's shoes, however both technicians were friendly. Even though it is a standard business practice to try to "up sell", they encouraged us to replace our 10 year old water heaters even though there was no sediment build-up and when questioned why we should replace them, they said actually, they were in great shape for being 10 years old. They warned us that we may have only another year or 2 before we had to replace them. We decided not the replace at this time. I also asked them to give me their best price to replace about 7 faucets and a Roman Tub faucet, they gave me their standard "book" price and said they would talk to Harvey about any other discount for such a large job. They did not get back to me with that bid until I emailed them to remind them that I would like their best bid. Their "best price" was still more than we were willing to pay. I like doing business with local companies and would let them give me a competitive bid in the future.

initially they came out to flush our water heater, nothing unusual, but they pointed out that it was 10 years old.  They explained that water heaters typically last from 8-10 years.  They explained the working of a water heater and the options they have, they said we should start thinking about a new water heater due to the age.  There was no pressure selling or tampering with the old water heater (it still worked)  We live in a condo and I always fear that it's going to burst and my neighbor down below is going to have water everywhere.

We ended up going with teh 10 yr gurantee WH with the auto shutoff valve.  They came a couple days later and in 1.5 hours everything was done.  They had removed the old WH and installed the new one.  They showed me how the shutoff worked and verfied with me that all teh faucets worked and no leaks.  Harve West takes care of getting all the permits and the next week the Dallas City inspector came out and said everyting looked great.

I really enjoyed these guys, very personable and willing to educate and explain things very well.  Any future plmbung snafus I would call these guys, honest and dependable.
