"We always appreciate the feedback and apologize that you feel you were treated poorly. The plumber was attempting to explain to you by phone that for your particular situation, the best option would be to contact a tile company prior to the plumber. He gave you a range of quotes for free by phone as we have done hundreds of jobs similar to yours; the quote over the phone was for the range of the most minor repair to most complicated repair as it is impossible to give an exact cost without having access to the problem under your shower. Unfortunately with your job, the only way to give you an exact quote is after having demo work to the shower, accessing the pipe and knowing exactly what we are dealing with. His effort was to save you the service call fee prior to any demo work to come out to only give you the exact same range of quotes he had already given over the phone. Again we apologize that our advice and attempt to avoid charging you to come out before the job is accessible came across as unhelpful."
Two weeks later, I called Harvey West Plumbing and scheduled the installation. They were very accommodating with my schedule.
The team of two plumbers showed up on time which is saying a lot for any contractor. I noticed one of them put on shoe covers before coming into the house but the other did not. I showed them to the bathrooms and they got started immediately. However, they immediately had some difficulty with the original homebuilder-installed fixtures. They admitted that they had never seen a bathroom faucet installed (the under vanity hardware) quite like mine. (the picture I showed Home Depot was foreign to them, too) They worked on it for almost 45 minutes before figuring out the trick to removing that particular faucet. They finally got the first one installed and the other two went very quickly. I checked each installation for function and leaks before they left with my payment. The whole process went pretty well.
About 20 minutes after they had left, I discovered that, in fact, a leak was under the vanity of two faucets. I immediately called Harvey West Plumbing to recall the team before they got too far away. The team was contacted and they returned to my house within another 20 minutes to fix the problems. They explained the error that caused the leaks and were very apologetic. All was good before they left again.
Harvey West's front office dispatcher and on-site service crews have been extraordinarily cordial, accommodating, helpful, and efficient. I am happy for the opportunity to recommend them highly and confidently.
"Thank you so much for the review! It was our pleasure to do whatever we could to help expedit the whole process with such an unfortunate occurance."
I often see reports where plumbers are listed as expensive, and at $250/toilet, i can understand why someone might think so, especially if they are do-it-yourself kind of person (my dad fixed stuff around the house all the time). I'm not a DIY and am willing to pay for the convenience of not having to make multiple trips to the hardware store to have work like this done right the first time.
"Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with a review. Glad to hear our technicians were respectful to you while you worked."
"We appreciate you taking the time to evaluate us and delighted you had a great experience."
Leo and Larry showed up. They looked over the range, gave me a quote, ran to get parts and I thought it was correct when they left. However, we were unable to install the range because of a few minor issues. The gas pipe sticks out too far and the line that runs from the gas pipe to the range is extremely short..so short that you can not slide out the range to hook up the gas. Someone has to lean over the cabinet and try to reach..which is impossible.
I called once the error was realized and the gentleman on the phone was extremely rude. They did say that they could have someone come out today.
I had to take time off from work today in order for the error to be corrected. It is a very unwelcomed inconvience and one that probably could have been avoided.
I am pleased that they are willing to try to fix the errors and I hope that there is a resolution to the issue. However, I will not use their services in the future.
"We appreciate your honesty as it helps us to improve all aspects of customer service and will speak to the technician on call that evening. Thank you for taking the time to provide a review."
I had called Sears first, since my last water heater was reliable and was a Kenmore. They are a big company of course, but the phone sales folks were not that great. Sears guarantees same day service if the order is placed prior to 12 noon. My order was placed about 1145am and I was assured (twice) that I would be contacted to set up an installation time that same day. By 3pm, no call.
I called Sears back and was directed to the installation group. They said the order didn't get processed until 12:30pm so I would not get installation that day.
I explained that is not what I was told, and also, by the way, no one had bothered to let me know, so I had wasted 3 hours at home waiting for them to call and schedule the installation.
Sears said they would call me the next morning to schedule a new time. They did call and set up a new time, but since they forgot to pick up the water heater, they were late. Two men show up from a contract plumbing company, look at the water heater and immediately say it won't fit. I say that I gave the sales folks the old model number and asked for an exact replacement, so why won't it fit. They say the new model has more insulation so it is bigger. I say, why didn't the sales folks ask me to measure it? Now I have wasted even more time.
They (Sears) say that I have two choices...get a smaller water heater with less gallons (40 gallons-same warranty-12 years) or the same gallons (50) with less warranty (9 years). I tell them that I have another choice...use someone else, and say thanks anyway. Bye Bye Sears.
I call West Plumbing and they say they sell Rheem who makes the 12 yr, 50 gallon in the same diameter that I already have, and they will be there the next day. They show up on time and replace the water heater in two hours and are then on their way... very professional.
Note: Sears was slightly cheaper on the water heater itself, but not significantly. Customers should know that all contractors may show up and tell you that your installation doesn't meet your City Code requirements and it's going to cost more than they quoted you on the phone.. Cities apparently have learned they can gouge citizens by requiring questionable upgrades. Sears was way cheaper on the 3 extras required to meet code, but West did meet their price (to their credit). Just make sure to ask ahead of time what Code issues may need to be addressed on your installation and what the charges may be. Then check around on the phone to see what different companies charge for these services ...(generally $150-300). Good Luck and Thanks for listening!

"We appreciate your honesty and apologize for the lack of shoe covers. It is our company policy to always respect and protect our customers home and property by taking measures such as wearing shoe covers. Reviews always help us with follow up training and trying to keep our technicians top notch. Hope we can help you in the future and Thanks for taking the time to respond!"
We ended up going with teh 10 yr gurantee WH with the auto shutoff valve. They came a couple days later and in 1.5 hours everything was done. They had removed the old WH and installed the new one. They showed me how the shutoff worked and verfied with me that all teh faucets worked and no leaks. Harve West takes care of getting all the permits and the next week the Dallas City inspector came out and said everyting looked great.
I really enjoyed these guys, very personable and willing to educate and explain things very well. Any future plmbung snafus I would call these guys, honest and dependable.
"Thank you so much for the great review! Glad we could help and that you had a positive experience with our service & technicians!"
