Description of Work: charged $379.00 to check gas jets, but did not fix anything. Any rpairs would be $195.00 per hour! | |The best thing was that I asked for and received a refund of my $395.00

Description of Work: I cannot recommend Harvey West Plumbing. I had a city official reveal to me that my pressure regulator valve (PRV) needed to be replaced. I researched the going rate in my area for this plumbing job and called 3 other companies to get estimates. Aside from the other estimates I received by phone, another plumbing company offered a free, no obligation quote that required an inspection. He came out and confirmed the information I had provided by phone and gave me a fair quote. | |I called Harvey West Plumbing for an estimate but they required a technician come to evaluate it first. I tried to provide all relevant information by phone but I was not given an estimate. The technician came out and was pleasant enough but his first question was about my water heater issue. That never came up but apparently, that is what the dispatcher sent him out for. Once we clarified what he was there for, he was unable to give me a quote without first calling his manager for pricing. That is what I tried to do a couple of days prior to that. | |Once he returned with a quote, I was floored. After the sales job on the maintenance plan and how I would be a priority customer and receive discounts on future work, he finally got to the price. With my Angie's List discount of $100, the prices came to just over $600. I asked him for the cost breakdown because he was $300 more than the technician who came out to look at the job the day before. He said this was a fixed bid and not an hourly job. He said the part itself was almost $100. I then asked him how long the job would take and he said about 2 hours. Doing the math for him, I asked him how he justified charging me over $250 an hour for labor. All he could say is that there was overhead. | |Needless to say, they will not be doing work for me. | |As a follow up, we had all of the repairs made by Ernie'e Plumbing Service for $320.

Description of Work: This was just another 'fishing expedition' by Harvey West Plumbing and is the second of three Big Deals I've attempted that proved to a 'fishing expedition' that would cost much more than the deal promised (one of the three was a very legitimate deal). When I discussed the simple & minimal work I needed performed, I was informed that this was $100 off of the bill and that there was also a $39.00 service fee which would be deducted from the $100. The minimum additional bill that I would owe would have been $89 and change after this $100 discount. I feel that this is a fraudulent Big Deal!

Description of Work: They did two jobs for me this year. One kitchen faucet install + service contract and one garbage disposal install. Dustin the plumber came both times and did a nice job each time out - he figured out the original disposal install was done improperly so that the unit vibrated quite a bit and eventually fell off. The reinstalled unit is much quieter. | |I give them an A overall and a B on price.
