Company was prompt and professional; did the work expeditiously and gave us the price prior to doing the job.

First assessment included replacing a major sewer pipe. However, plumber was able to fix pipe in bathroom only.

They did a great job at installing a gas burning log in our fireplace.

I had a 14-year old (6-yr warranty) 50-gal. gas WH that was still ok, no leaks, but that was just beyond the 4-year warranty on a replacement anode rod. So I decided to be pro-active and replace the WH before a leak would occur. In looking on Angie?s list I determined from reviews similar to my circumstance, a WH easily accessible in a garage closet, that the quoted costs were in the $1200 range. So I set that as my benchmark for any quote I received. The two important unknown factors were the size of tank and warranty. So, I contacted 3 plumbing companies, all on Angie?s List, through their websites for free estimates. All were highly rated and all had mostly favorable, even excellent reviews. I received a call from each within 3 days and they gave me an over-the-phone quote, which would be subject to any unknown, on-site variables. Each quote included the cost of the city permit. The first quote received was for an 8-year warranty, Rheem Pro. The quote, after a $125 discount, was $1350. The second quote was $1245 for a 6-year (100% guaranteed), State Industries WH. There may have been $45 discount given on the service call. The third quote, from Harvey West, was $1159 for a 12-year warranty Rheem Pro. At the time, Harvey West had an Angie?s List deal available: pay $50 to get a discount of $150 on a WH install. That $50 made the net quote, $1059. (An 8-year Rheem was quoted at $979, before discounts) Considering all the factors, it seemed to me a ?no-brainer? to go for the 12-year Rheem, which is what I did. I purchased the Angie?s List deal and emailed HWP my acceptance of their bid. The next day I received a call to set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, Tony showed up about 30-minutes late, only because of a major traffic accident on I-30 that caused major traffic congestion getting into and through Rowlett. Couldn?t have asked for a nicer, more friendly and competent technician. After surveying the premises and determining no additional replacement parts would be necessary, he wrote up the final quote which came to $1197. With the $50 paid for the $150 discount, I paid $1247, essentially matching the ?benchmark? amount of $1200. When Tony emptied and removed the old tank there was a lot of sediment expelled, making obvious that my decision to replace it was a good one. One very noticeable change is in how the hot water is now more consistent, especially on those days when the dish washer and clothes washer are not used. Before, on those days, the shower faucet would have to be turned more to the hot side to get the right temperature balance for a comfortable shower. Overall, I am very pleased with the work done by Harvey West Plumbing and their technician, Tony, and highly recommend their WH replacement service. For any other plumbing repair work I need that I can?t do myself, they will be the first company I call.

They did nothing, waste of money and time

Both Dustin Deweese and his helper explained what they were doing. The leak which was in the bathroom faucet I decided against due to the price being too high for me.

Dustin and his assistant were professional clean and neat. They arrived on time and ready to work. Dustin diagnosed the problem. Dustin did a very good job of going over what they were going to do and the cost. They were quick and efficient. I will use them for my future plumbing needs. I used Harvey West's $20 for $100 work coupon. Final cost was $198.00 for $298.00 worth of work.

Replace a valve on a specialty shower fixture

Upon inspection of the leaking faucet, the provider told me that I need a new faucet and supply lines. Quote to replace was $452.00. That was extremely high for the job! Another provider was called and came out the same day and replaced the faucet for $179 (no coupons).

The team at Harvey West was very professional. They did the work and the plumber that installed was great. Very nice and answered all my questions. Got quotes from several of the top rated and so far have been pleased with work performed and the staff's helpfulness.

The plumber was punctual and replaced the leaking faucet outside the front of the house. At about $366, the price seemed high. We had a voucher "$100 service for price of $20" for this plumber purchased on Angie's List, and so our final price was about $266 + $20 voucher. A few months earlier we paid about $270 for a different plumber to replace the other outside faucet. So, we almost felt as if this company upped the price to compensate for the voucher. Had we not had their voucher, we would have declined their service at that price.

It is hard to find good plumbers. Cautiously I would recommend them, but I would suggest negotiating the price. Let me note that I know how uncomfortable it is to work in the crawl space. I've done it myself. To assist the plumber I put down plastic and thick rubber mats before he came because that makes it easier to do the job, rather than being jabbed by rocks and dirt. First, the plumber didn't have a large enough key to turn off the water from the city supply to my property, so I lent him the use of mine. Garland needs to fix the meter cut-off so it actually cuts off the water. Kudos to Tony for creating a work around so he could perform the rest of the work. Secondly, every plumber should have one or more flashlights on their person at all times. I had to lend Tony 2 flashlights, as well as an inspection mirror (which was actually my wife's mirror made out of nice wood that I need to remove the mud or something from now). For what Harvey West charges, they should be able to supply their plumbers with sufficient equipment. In every other way, the plumber Tony was very professional, enthusiastic and competent. He will impress you. Two prior plumbing companies either didn't want to go in the crawl space (ARS Rescue Rooter) or were incompetent in repair work (Benjamin Franklin Plumbing). Tony is great, and we'll probably use them again, but at what turned out to be $440/hr, his boss should buy him some good flashlights, so he wouldn't have to borrow mine. I won't fault him for that. Tony is enthusiastic about his employer and his work. At nearly $880, Harvey West's price is too high, certainly for 2 hours worth of work, some copper pipe and an outdoor faucet. Yes, I could have said no, but at that point I had tried 2 other plumbing companies without success and thus I took the ridiculous price just to get the work done. So for the the owner/manager of Harvey West Plumbing I would say that I understand plumbing companies generally charge by an estimator guide. It seems to me that the price should be reduced appropriately according how much time it actually took, compared to the estimate. $440/hr is twice as much as a higher end CPA, way more expensive than most doctors and more on the order of a high priced legal team -- particularly considering I had to supply some of the equipment. I also received 2 other referrals, one to obryanplumbingservices.com and the other for Dallas Plumbing (requesting Chris Franklin).

We bought an Angie's List deal in our area because I wanted a professional to check our sink plumbing that we'd had done with a remodel that we were not happy with. Tony came out to inspect it and told us exactly what was wrong and what we'd need to do to get it fixed. My husband has extremely high expectations for any service industry especially in their professionalism and demeanor. Tony was wonderful! He was very professional and extremely personable and helpful!

Removed and replaced a toilet. They did a fine job but I felt the price was outrageously high which was somewhat offset by the coupon I had purchased.

Very good experience. I had purchased a commode, but it didn't fit the area of my bathroom. The plumber told me what I needed to get, I purchased another commode, and he came back to install it.

I could not be any happier with this business' service. I explained that I had guest coming and extra effort was made to get to me before my given appointment time. The tech was polite, did an excellent job and cleaned up after himself. I had a bit of sticker shock at the price but since i haven't had to use a plumber in awhile, I'm not sure what the going rate is.

When I first signed up, this was the "Big Deal" offer. I thought "wow, that's great, I need a plumber" so I purchased it. I got a call the next day saying I was not in there service area and they could not honor the purchase. It should not have been offered if I was not in there service area. I don't know if this is the fault of Harvey Plumbing or Angie's List.

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal offer for Harvey West Plumbing to address an issue with our dishwasher drainage. We observed water was coming out of the air gap during draining. | |Tony was the service technician who came out. He was punctual, professional and also very friendly. He fixed the issue within 20 minutes or so. | |Pricing was a bit higher than anticipated especially just to unclog a pipe- but overall the service was great. I highly recommend Harvey West Plumbing

It did not work out. The coupon that I purchased and what I want to have done, it would be cheaper for me to hire a private plumber. They raised the price and then made it sound cheaper with the Angie’s List coupon. They were too expensive. I would not use them; I wasted my money. It took awhile to get them out, they finally came out a month ago.

I called Harvey West to replace my water heater. They came out that afternoon and completed the work quickly and professionally. I couldn't buy the Angie's List coupon online, as my credit cards had been stolen, so Tony called his office to get permission to give me the $100 discount anyway. They did and I appreciated that. I will use this plumber in the future and I would recommend them to friends and neighbors!
