I went to my insurance company because I had a crack in my windshield and it was free through my insurance. I did not get a say as to whom came to fix my windshield, they just called safelite out to do the work. When the guy from safelite came out to work on my windshield he ended up cracking it 3 more inches while he was trying to seal it. He then told me it should be sealed and wouldn't crack further. He guaranteed me it was sealed. A week and half has passed and now the crack is almost across my windshield. I now need a completely new windshield. I called my insurance company to tell them this and they explained that I have to pay them a $200 deductable to get a new windshield. They told me it was $394 for a new window from safelite. I called a company in dallas and can get the same window installed for $169 + tax. Why is it that safelite is charging my insurance company $394 when I can pay less than my deductable alone for the same window at $169?
