"Dear [member name removed], Please accept my sincere apology for the delay in scheduling your appointment with me, as quality customer service is very important to our company. As hectic as the pool business has been this year, I was trying to juggle our first appointment together with another client’s wish to purchase one of our pools. Their own schedule had suddenly changed the day/time we were supposed to meet up, so I was trying accommodate them as well. There was a misunderstanding on my part with respect to rescheduling but I’d very much welcome the opportunity to meet with you at your earliest convenience. We do value and appreciate your feedback and look forward to working with you soon. Respectfully, Wes Colby The Pool Man, Inc."

The project scope of putting in a pool / hot tub is huge.  I didn't realize just now much work was entailed until the project started.  The entire project went very smoothly.  All of the workers that were at our house did a great job and were very hard workers.  We love the pool that they made for us!!

If this is the same company,  they started off great. On time, same day of the week, pool looked good. Then, they started to slack off, threw the partially dissolved Chlorine tablets in the flower bed or into the spa. Next, they didn't show up regularly, unless of course, it was to collect the monthly payment in advance.  By September, the pool was a nice shade of green and then offered to clean/drain for $600.00.
Maybe "The Pool Man" has changed owners, staff  etc. but I wouldn't take any chances.

"[member name removed] - we appreciate all comments concerning our level of customer service and treat all feedback with a very high level of importance. However, I have gone through all of our records and we are not the company you are referring to. We have never serviced this address nor does your name show up on any of our accounting or service records. Our billing is done by mail and we do not send anyone to "pick-up" payments. Our pool cleaners are taught/trained in proper pool maintenance, attend weekly training/safety meetings, are properly uniformed and our trucks are marked with our name and phone number for identification. Our pool cleaners have specific routes to run each week and our Route Manager confirms all work every week. We also hold ourselves responsible for your pool if we maintain it. If the pool got out of control because of our poor service - we do not charge the customer to get it back to normal - we take care of it. We are sorry for your experience with this "other" company. We hope that you will review your records and let the "other" company know of your experience. You may contact me personally with any questions or concerns - Dane Thompson, Operations Manager, 281-351-2577, The Pool Man, Inc. 19111 Cypress Rosehill Rd., Tomball, TX 77377"

As I said we had some communication issues during construction that caused some stress but we worked together and solved the problems by and large. The pool is beautiful.

However I cannot recommend the in pool PCC cleaning system. I would rather have my Polaris like I had at my old pool. The concept of the PCC is great. It just is not working like I thought it would. I have debris collecting in certain areas. Also I was aware that socalled bigger debris that gets in your pool would not be handled by the cleaner so that supplemental cleaning would be necessary at times. Just had no idea what the bigger debris would be. To keep my pool looking good, I need to get the vacuum out every couple of days which is a lot more trouble than removing a polaris when you want to swim. It was a system that was supposed to make having a pool easier and it has increased our maintenance. It is too pricey to have to do what we have to do.

So overall we have a well built pool that is beautiful. But we also have a pool that is more trouble than we wanted. Stick with the traditional and proven cleaning systems. The PCC 2000 is not worth the price tag.

"[member name removed] - Thank you for your honest and straightforward review. We appreciate you taking the time to express your feeling towards our company. We use these reviews to work on becoming a better company and to find ways to improve our customer service. We are aware of the issue with your in-floor cleaning system. I discussed the problem with Ted and he will be stopping by this week to adjust the system and investigate any problems. The in-floor system usually needs a few adjustments before operating at it's full potential and we will do everything in our power to make sure your system is working correctly. I have already met with our Superintendents and discussed the importance of constant communication with our customers. Again we appreciate your comments and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have. Thank You!"

My husband called The Pool Man and spoke with Wes. He came out, did some measurements and then came back to show us the pool/spa drawings. We had two other estimates from other companies on Angies List. While we didn't choose them, I would recommend people to make sure to try these guys out.

The installation of the pool went well as has repairs since.  We've had to have them come out since the buildout for both in warranty repairs and out of warranty repairs.  They do quality work.

This was really an excellent experience.  The Pool Man took good care of me.  They were very prompt in responding to my initial inquiry in June.  They provided a design that I loved and filled the needs that I described to them.  We signed a contract at the end of June.  They had a waiting list, which they were quite up front about, so we didn't start to try to dig until late July.  It turned out, with my 40 year old house, that there were quite a few electric, gas, and sewer lines that had to be moved and, because of their age, required the city to move or a plumber to move.  This could have gone faster if I'd known I needed to coordinate this prep work beforehand.  They finally started digging at the end of August and the work was quite steady -- something happened everyday.  The folks were reliable, trustworthy.  When we needed to make changes, the Pool Man was transparent about the changes, made up change orders, and was clear about the cost of the change.  Their recommendations about adjustments in drainage and gutters to protect my investment were spot on.  The pool was finished in early October and they've been great about follow ups and any repair and warranty work and even my "new pool owner silly questions."  I love, love, love my pool.  I've heated it and swim in it daily all winter long.  I come home in the evening, turn on the water falls, and wash all the cares of the world away.  The Pool Man is not the cheapest in the business -- they don't disguise that either --but the integrity and attention to detail and the quality of the product that I received was worth every penny of the investment.  They are now providing my weekly pool cleaning service as well.

This was our second go around with a pool builder search.  The first time we ended up not getting the pool built.  After interviewing five or six companies the first time, The Poolman was the only one of the original companies we talked to again.  This time we narrowed it down to three companies that all seemed very good but in the end we went with The Poolman because we liked the design the best, they came in within our budget and for their very good and deserved reputation.
We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted but it was great to have a designer (Blake) to throw out new ideas for us to consider.  Once we made all of our selections it was time to start the build.  Our construction foreman (Bart) was here for most of the digging process.  Once we progressed through the stages he was here to get the crew started and to check on the work throughout the day.  After some delays because of the weather things went pretty smoothly.  We had some complaints about some of the finishing stone work but it was taken care to our satisfaction.  The pool has been flawless since completion and looks great.  We love our pool and The Poolman!

Their prices kept increasing so we stopped using them. He offered good service and was very dependable and they did major repairs on the pool as well. They would also let us know if they saw something that needed repairing.

I contacted the pool man to come by and give me an estimate on the pool.  They rescheduled the appointment three times.  The third time he called 15 minutes before the scheduled appoint and told me he was at the Cypress Home show and not going to be able to make it.
Response from Pool Man Inc.

"Member - in response to your comments - our records show that only one appointment was scheduled and then canceled. No appointments were scheduled for the weekend of the Home Show as we new this ahead of time. We apologize if this caused you any inconvenience and regret we were unable to work with you. We hope the company you selected met your expectations and you are happy with your decision. We value the opportunity to present our product and services to anyone and we are truly sorry that we did not have the chance to visit with you. To ensure that this does not happen again we have reviewed our procedures and processes. Thank you for your comments and we wish you the best with your new pool."

Our beautiful backyard pool, built by the Pool Man, Inc. of Cypress, Texas is everything we were hoping for ...and much more!  From the inspired design of Wes Colby, through the nearly flawless execution of construction foreman Bart Russell and his subcontractor crews, to the start-up expertise of technician Joel Fitzgerald, the entire experience was very positive.

After considering the bid proposals and designs of three pool builders, we went with the Pool Man, Inc.  Pool Man's bid, in dollar amount, was the middle one, with a range of plus or minus 10%.  But, the deciding factors came down to intangible qualities such as: 1) years in the pool building business (>30), 2) Local family business (not a national franchise), 3) activity level (>50 pools built per year), 4) communication ability, 5) product examples and referrals and 6) a company that was well organized and projected an image of professionalism and prosperity.

Pool construction, with so many different trades involved (at least nine), is a complex endeavor.  During the construction of our pool, a two week delay was caused by the back ordering of the water line tile and the coping rock, Wister Flagstone.  Delays such as these are beyond the control of the pool builder, but still affect the scheduling of other trades.  The pool was finished in eight weeks, as promised.

Pool Man, Inc. responded immediately to several issues that came up during or right after start-up.  This is the hallmark of a company that not only remains in business during economic downturns but prospers during the good times.  It's all about customer service and standing behind your word -- Pool Man, Inc. does this without question.

During the pool builder selection process, we went with our instincts -- we were not disappointed.  We recommend Pool Man, Inc. to anyone looking to build their backyard dream pool.

The experience was excellent.  I was concerned that it would take more time than estimated, but they actually completed the job in less time than expected.  Every person I dealt with was professional and did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, from the salesperson, the coordinator, the construction manager and all the sub-contractors.  There was an issue with the spa spillway and they came out and fixed it to my satisfaction in a timely manner.  From the day they dug the hole to the day my son first got in the pool was 4 weeks to the day.  I would recommend the Pool Man to anyone that asked me!

We were losing water in the pool and we had them checkout, if there was any problem with the equipment. They came over checked the same and didn?t find any problem with the equipment. They didn?t charge us anything for the inspection. We liked their customer service, which was very good and they recommended us to someone else, to inspect the leak. They were very good and we will use their services in the future, too.

The job was performed but I returned home to find water gushing from a crack at the top of the filter. No note, no call, just a broken filter. I called the office back and was told that, "Yeah, that sometimes happens when you do a sand change." And that since it happened while they were there, they would be willing to make me a good deal on a new filter.
