I give the technicians an A but not the office staff.
This time someone came in and checked the system and told us that it was rusted out (in the attic) and would not last long and our only option would be to get a new system. There was also the problem that we had the older Freon in the system and they would have to replace the system upstairs for the newer type because of that. However we would also need to get a new outside unit because the 2 would no longer be compatible (we found out otherwise later). This would cost a sum total of approximately $18000-$21000.
This technician had left the cover off the filter box after inspecting the unit upstairs. As a result there was a lot of dust and dirt being distributed in the house adding to our allergies. At an earlier date I had purchased an ADCO UV filtration system (this was a good one) and needless to say that thing was working overtime and not able to keep up. Also, the filter that they had been replacing every 6 months was not the right size or brand for the filter box so more allergens were getting distributed within the house.
They were holding us "hostage" by the "lifetime warranty" (that wasn't a lifetime warranty). I would suggest unless they change their ways please do not think about using them.
Cost me another thousand to replace with another contractor.
He pointed out several items, drain pipe getting plugged, condensing unit, outside was drawing 101 amps and he recommended an add on device, relay switch pitted recommended replacement, and unit needed Freon.
Would not just replace Freon because he said it was more than 20% low and he would have to evacuate unite and replace ALL the Freon. wanted apx. $300 to replace relay switch, 350 to add part to reduce starting load on pump. wanted to replace switch on drain pan with one in drain line, didn't get price. Told me the furnace was not variable speed, but upon further checking it Wanted to replace condensing coil in furnace even though he told me he detected NO oil on coil.
Gave me an estimate on replacing defective materials including new AC unit of $10,035, guess I have better check around a little first.
"I believe that this is a case of mistaken identity and that this customer is posting a report for another company. We did not do this job.as far as I know and would ask that this report be suspended until the customer that wrote the report can be contacted and produce an invoice with our name on it. As far as I know we have never worked for this customer."
