We contacted Tierney Plumbing after reading their good reviews on Angies list. We have a kitchen sink that clogs periodically. Our serviceman (Johnny) showed up promptly on time and fixed the clog problem in very little time. He also noted and fixed something that had been missed by other plumbers - that the drain pipes between the 2 sinks and the disposer had been installed improperly to begin with - he fixed the problem and now it's a lot less cluttered underneath the sink. We'll definitely use Tierney again.

Excellent. They were straightforward and very professional. It was a coupon for a two hours service and that was nice. I would absolutely recommend them. I would use them again in the future.

Great job. Very professional. They came the day before a holiday because I called them at the last minute. They came and took care of my problem. I'd definitely use them again.

Plumber came out to check on water heater that was not working. I showed him the water heater and explained to him that I had already tried the breaker switch to make sure the electricity was on to it. He removed the water heater panel for the upper heating element (there are two - an upper and a lower element). He identified that there was no electricity flowing to the element. He reached over and flipped the breaker switch on and off, and there was electricity flowing to the element (apparently the breaker had flipped). He declared the problem solved. Charged me the $135 for the service call and went on his way (Note: I consider $135 a reasonable charge for a service call from a plumber). Note that he did not check the lower heating element, and made no attempt to diagnose if there was anything about the water heater that was causing the breaker to flip. The water heats back up and then goes cold again. I go out to check the breaker and find that the water heater is now leaking water through the lower heating element panel. I call Tierney again and explain the problem. This time they were no where near as accommodating about coming out to take a look and fix it. They said it would be Monday of the next week before someone could come out (note there was a New Years Holiday in the middle of the current week). I said, NO WAY, and explained to Jenny, who was otherwise quite professional, that this was a problem they did not fix on their initial visit, and for which I had already paid a service call fee, and for which they needed to take responsibility. She called the plumber, who said it was an unrelated issue, and that he wouldn't come out to fix it. After talking again to Jenny, she contacted another plumber, Jeremy, who agreed to come out and take a look. Jeremy was polite and professional. He found that the lower element was blown (the element that first plumber neglected to check), and explained that because it was blown it eventually was the cause of the leak. He looked at, and acknowledged that if he had been the original plumber, he would have checked both elements, because that was the right thing to do. He said that first plumber was probably just used to breakers flipping on other jobs, so just did that rather than doing the correct procedure of checking both elements to see if there was a problem with the water heater that was cause the breaker to flip. Jeremy tried to find a replacement element, but because of the holiday in the middle of the week, the supplier was closed until the next Monday. The day after the holiday, I ended up calling another plumber who installs the brand of water heater that I had, and they came out immediately. They did not have the part to fix the water heater, and like Tierney could not get one ordered until the next week. I ended up having them install a new water heater, because I had already been without hot water for most of the week and it looked like it would be another week before I could be assured of having hot water. By the time I paid for a place to go shower and get ready for work this week and next, it was becoming quite expensive, so a replacement heater became the better financial decision. All in all, I estimate that first plumber's negligence in doing his job cost me about $1,100 more for water heater and alternate showering accommodations than I would otherwise have spent. I have no complaint against Jeremy. He seemed like an honest and competent plumber. But I do have a strong complaint about first plumber, who in my opinion was sloppy and negligent in doing his job (Jeremy validated my observation that first plumber should have been conscientious and done the full check of the water heater on his service call - which would have allowed for getting a replacement part ordered and delivered by today), and who cost me more money than I should have paid out. I also have a strong complaint about a company that won't stand behind its work and whose initial response is to leave a customer hanging for a week until the "next available appointment" when they made a mistake that was harming the customer. If it were not for this particular issue, I would probably give Tierney a "B" rating. They are nothing special as a service provider. They have limited hours, and are not particularly responsive. They have both good and bad employees. They don't immediately stand behind their work, and it takes some pleading and arguing to get them to do the right thing. The quality of their service certainly does not merit an "A", in my estimation. If you have to use them, I recommend requesting Jeremy. If they send another plumber, check his work very closely. Just as a comparison -- the other plumbing company understood the importance of my problem. They had someone to my house and I had a working water heater in place within 4 hours of my initial call -- that's pretty amazing in my experience.

They did a super job for the deal I bought. I asked them to do follow up work at my new house and I haven't heard back.

Tierney Plumbing Service Rep advised that we would need a new hot water heater. We scheduled the installation and they did an excellent job installing the new hot water heater. The service rep was on time and informative for both the service call and the installation. The time allotted and price were as quoted with no surprises. Also, the service rep was very complementary of Tierney Plumbing and it was refreshing to have an employee that was proud of his job and the company for which he worked.

The price was quite reasonable considering all they did. My house wasn't up to code. They put in pans under both water heaters, one heater required drilling through brick to get emergency drain to the outside. The 2nd heater was internal and routing outside was a very expensive option. They installed an electronic water shutoff valve ($350). Very competent, high energy plumber. I had them come back later to fix a commode that had a leaking seal. We were also having a slow drain problem in the guest bathroom. Roots had invaded so they cleaned all the lines and everything is great now.

I was completely satisfied with the work performed. They were on time and were very professional. I would recommend them to friends and family. I would definitely use them again. Thank you Angie for connecting me to such a reliable and professional group of people.

The plumber and plumber's helper were prompt, professional, and personable. The job was efficiently accomplished in about 45 minutes. We were pleased with the service provided.

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! The installer was polite, professional and knowledgable.

I contacted the office by telephone and explained my situation. My request was for a whirlpool bath tub installation. I explained the electric was already in place and the old whirlpool tub was removed. Jennifer whom answered the call quoted me an estimate for time for completion to be between 2-4 hours. I was contacted by email the night prior to my appointment requesting to reschedule due to a new estimate of completion of 4-8 hours, due to a "possible" drain alignment. There was no additional information and/or communication between myself and any of the staff from Tierney Plumbing, however a job estimated between 2 to 4 hours, mysteriously changed to a job taking 4-8 hours due to the "possibility" that the drain would not line up. The bath tub cost approximately $900.00, however the install was now estimated to cost close to the amount of the tub itself. Sounds more like the plumbers schedule may have been a little over booked for the date of my appointment. I found this experience to be a waste of valuable time, as it has left me in a bind to find another plumber on the day I scheduled off from work.

If you know nothing about plumbing and have no skills at home repair and don't mind over paying - these guys are good. However, I would not use them for the simple fact that they charged so much for the part - I already paid for their time, but $58 for a $24 part is ridiculous. They did return my calls and were very prompt - the technician was professional and timely.

I was able to reach someone in their office on the first try and get a very quick appointment. However, the technician showed up over an hour late and I didn't receive a phone call notifying me of the delay. This wasn't very pleasant considering I wasn't occupying this property yet so I had to wait in an empty house. The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. He reviewed the work, left to purchase the necessary supplies and completed the work without incident. He answered all the questions I had regarding the charges and work done. The tardiness of the technician was inconvenient but I would use them again.

I haven't used that bathroom since the plumber was here. The cost of $750+parts may have been a little high in my opinion. I wonder if there could have been a less expensive fix.

He was punctual, very professional, knowledgeable, and answered all of my husband's 100 questions. Had originally brought him out to do other work but he explained why it was better to not make those changes. Would definitely use them again. Really nice guy. Highly recommend.

They could not give immediate attention to my urgency of stopping a water leak that was flooding several areas of my home.

Showed up on time and removed the old garbage disposal that was leaking and replaced it with a new one.

Contractor arrived exactly on time and quoted a price of $350 before starting the work. Charged an hourly rate plus materials which ended up being significantly less than the quoted price. Other contractors quoted me between $800-$1100. Work was completed in less than an hour. They will be the only contractor I call in the future.
