Scheduling this was fine and professional, and the guy showed up on time.
However, my wife texted me that this was going to be close to $1000! The breakdown follows (approximates) -
$350 to "rebuild" a leaking faucet (usually, a washer or two don't cost hundreds of dollars!)
$450 to replace the disposal (the leak was from the drain, not the actual unit, and a disposal is about $100 anyway)
The balance was some extended service agreement.
Needless to say we paid the service call - money down the 'drain' - and sent him on his way.
VERY disappointing to be gouged by an Angie's List provider.

I decided to get another quote first and as I stood pondering about who to call, I noticed that the on off switch for the unit was switched OFF! I turned it back on and it started working again. Needless to say I was very disappointed in Berkeys.
"This review is from service 5 years ago, and while the homeowner states Berkeys was the service provider, we have no record of going to this home since 2008. So, it is difficult to provide much additional feedback, but clearly this is not how Berkeys provides service....we would never make a recommendation to replace a water heater that simply was not switched on.....we have tried to contact this homeowner, but again, with this being 5 years old and no record of service at this time, there is not much we can do. WE certainly would appreciate the opportunity to be of service and provide this homeowner with our customary, outstanding service."

Berkeys never charges for estimates for new HVAC equipment, so if we stated that to you, it was in error, and for that we are very sorry. 3:30 am a water filter busted under the sink. Fortunately I happened to be up and caught it. The shut off valve would not work so I had to shut the water off at the street. Having just used Berkeys I called them again at 4am. At 5am Corey showed up. This guy is an awesome technician. He assessed the problem, gave me an estimate and started to work. He was working under difficult conditions and was a trooper. He fixed the issue and finally got to go home about 9am. His expertise and work ethic impressed me. He suggested a water clean up crew, asked if it was ok to contact them, called them and arranged for them to come out right away. He was professional, courteous and very pleasant to work with.
I want to say thank you to Gaye for her outstanding customer service and to Corey for his excellence in this horrible situation. Berkeys now has a customer for life.

After our unfortunate experience with Berkey's we have been using Al with Excel Heating and Air. We have been very pleased with the service as well as the cost.
"We attempted to satisfy this homeowner and we sent a manager out to meet with them after they complained about our pricing. All of the work that we completed for these 17 year old systems was necessary, and we did recommend replacing the units due to age, instead of continuing to invest in repairs. We gave multiple pricing options, but ultimately, this customer believed our pricing was too high for them. We refunded their membership fee prior to this review being submitted. We hope that we can be of service to them in the future, but we also recognize that there are lower cost options available from other companies with different structures, levels of service, warranties, etc."
The service man arrived in the arranged time frame. He was informed we had recently had a handyman out here to clear what should have been an easy fix. It was also explained the the handyman went on the roof to try to clear the blockage in the stack but lost his snake done the tube. The service guy then told us how we should never use a handyman for anything, especially plumbing. He stated that he thought they may be good for somethings but he had no idea what those somethings could be. He went to take a look at the problem and came back with an estimate. The estimate was not broken down but there were 2 prices listed next to the work listed. One price was circled for $362.00. The service man pointed to the $362.00 and said this will be the cost with the Berkey Club. This was $100.00 cheaper than the other estimate and so it was approved.
The service tech was quick and good. He had the problem fixed in about 1/2 hr. After the job was finished he brought in a bill for $462.00. I said the estimate was for $362 and he said but you signed up for the Berkey Club and that is $99.00. I said but you said the 362.00 included the Berkey Club and he said I'm sorry but you misunderstood what I said. I paid him his money but I was not happy about it. Later in the evening I received the invoice for $462.00 and remembered the conversation and the ad here on Angie's List. No real information was provided about the Berkey Club so both of us are very unclear about this. The ad here also stated there was a coupon for $55 off plumbing work for first time customers. That was not on the invoice either.
We subscribe to Angie's List to avoid problems such as this and we are extremely disappointed.

An update to the previous review: Berkey's contacted us and the issue was resolved. The company was respectful and took care of our concerns. Thank you very much. I have upgraded my review to reflect this.

The negative side of this experience was price they they charged me to fix my doorbell and install the faucet.

"Berkeys was purchased by a new owner in 1996 and we are not aware of your problem with the plumbing in your home that was done by the owner in 1985. However, we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Berkeys has not done new construction since 1996. You called us for service on 7/21/14 to repair a water line to the refrigerator. At 11:15 on 7/21/14 you called us back to cancel the call as you discovered your problem was with the refrigerator and not the water line. We are not sure if you had another company in April of this year take care of your problem, but we have not serviced your home. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns."
