Jim Maas is now landscaping for the children and grandchildren that his father, Herbert Maas, worked for many years ago. It went fine. Their location is far...I have to go to them to get it. They are located in another city...South of Houston. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I thought that he understood what I was trying to say but he came up with a pretty large landscaping. To follow that up, I have to go back there which was fine. It was a lovely nursery that he had down there but he doesn't come to you. He probably would for a larger job but for the big deal that I got I have to basically go to him. He didn't do the landscape service because I couldn't afford him. I thought I could but something came out and as it turned out I probably would not have use his plan anyway. It was a bit grandiose probably for my part to think that I could use somebody like him...it would have been expensive.

It went great. The staff was wonderful. The selection has got to be the largest and most diverse in the state. I spent literally hours just walking around browsing at all the wonderful things they have.

I have never had so much fun at a nursery! The variety and quality of items they sell is like nothing I've ever seen before - you name it, they've got it. It was such a pleasure to simply roam the grounds and I really look forward to going back when the weather gets cooler. They have the most incredible selection of items to decorate any garden or to give as a gift to someone who loves to garden.

I drove an hour to their nursery and was treated very well and shown around and selected the type of plants I liked. It is a beautiful place. An appointment was scheduled to come back in several week on a weekend morning when the plan was to be ready. On the day of the appointment, when I got to the nursery ( again an hour drive) , my plans were not ready and the staff person had not called to notify me until I had already left home. Supposedly, there was a computer problem and he couldn't access the plans. I waited a couple of months and called again and my plans could not be found and they had to start over. They sent someone out to photograph my front yard as the ones I had taken in were lost and they had to start over. After a period of time when I couldn't reach the designer, I called the owner several times, but never got to speak with him. I just got calls back from the designer with more excuses. I can't remember how many calls were made, but it was 5 months before I got my landscape plan and the designer refunded my money because of the many problems that arose. He re-worked the plan when the first one was very formal and not what I wanted. He was a very personable, likable man, but I soured on the whole deal when it took 7 months to bring the deal to a conclusion. I don't have time to have to repeatedly followup on anything.
The nursery is amazingly beautiful, the designer was very skilled and knowledgeable. The plants were of high quality and a hugh variety. But the service was very frustrating. I did get the plan and they refunded my money, but I don't know if it was worth the hassle.

This job was the second time we had Maas Nursery do a job at our home. We were so happy with the front yard landscaping, that we wanted to create a new walkway which would extend from the street to the entry of our home.
We worked with Jim Maas on selecting the flagstone and crushed granite and together created a unique design for the walkway. The contractors were careful when digging around a live oak tree and selected just the right size of flagstone for create a walkway that would not trip up a person. The work crew kept the area clean and were professional.
As I mentioned, we have experience with Maas Nursery (and Jim Maas); if the need arises, we would definitely use them again - we have and will recommend them to others.

Maas Nursery and Landscaping were wonderful. Jim Maas was very knowledgeable. I was particularly looking for an edible landscape, I wanted him to design vegetable gardens and fruit trees to look like a formal garden and that's what he did. I told him that I wanted to have enough space in my garden to be able to grow enough food to sustain my whole family, we have a very large family, he was able to do that.

I always enjoy looking through the large variety of indoor and outdoor plants offered at Maas. The plants are healthy. I also enjoy looking at the pottery and fountains.

Jim Maas had GREAT ideas! He suggested plants, drew up the beds and gave us
very good advise as what to plant and how to care for the new plants. There was a problem with a whole row
of gardenias that they planted, and they came back tore them out and replaced them no questions asked.
