Their a little bit expensive but their quality is so good. That they show real love of animals and great knowledge of their care. They've always been very professional in their care and we've had great results with any work we had them do.

We came to Westridge Pet Hospital for the first time on May 27, 2016 with our 20 year old male cat Malachi, and Dr Jessica Sovereign was his doctor. Blood was drawn for labs and Dr Sovereign said she would call us in a couple of days. She never called, and we ended up having to bring our 20 year old female cat Leia in for breathing problems, so I was going to ask Dr Sovereign about Malachi's labs then instead of having to call. Now, on this second visit, we brought Leia in and I asked Dr Sovereign about Malachi's labs, and her response was that she had forgotten to call us and we could discuss it later. Leia then had an ultrasound done and Dr Sovereign showed us her lungs were collapsing. It was very clear that it was time for our baby girl to leave us, and we needed to do it before she began suffocating. Now we were traumatized at having to say good-bye so fast, and sitting there in the small cramped room waiting for her to be euthanized. All of a sudden the receptionist abruptly opens the outside door and comes in saying, "Your total today is $224"!! How more cold can you get! We are trying to say good-bye, waiting for the end and they couldn't even wait until it was done to get paid. I was so upset but all I could think about was Leia so I let my husband leave me to make sure they got their money! The next blow was when Dr Sovereign came in, and I didn't want to leave out Malachi, and I asked about his lab results. She told me the labs had been lost!!! We were to get a full refund and Malachi could be brought back again. Bring a 20 year old cat back to draw blood again because they lost our labs!! This is not a good first impression. We did not get the full refund as the lab cost was $177.39 and we were only refunded $88.70. Leia was finally euthanized, and went to sleep peacefully. I would rather give them a D because these issues that happened were totally unacceptable but we were not with them long enough to give them a bad rating.

When my Boxer-baby had a VERY complicated FHO surgery for an old/traumatic injury, I knew PT was needed...not only for the surgery, but for her not using her hind leg for a couple years before the surgery (my boxer is 3-4ish)

I first contacted an SA PT/Rehab place, and they gave me a price list and packages.  Although I live in San Antonio, and the other place was closer, I decided to call Westridge for a 'second opinion'... not planning to go there, since they were in the Schertz area.  When I called them, they explained what they did, why they did it, and how the whole process works.

At my 'second opinion' appointment, I met with the vet and PT techs, and they walked me through the process AND showed me how it works by treating my Boxer-baby.  I was sold...they are professional, responsive, caring, balanced between 'traditional' and 'non-traditional' treatment, and VERY reasonable for pricing, and overall GREAT!  My Boxer has been going to PT for a few months...I knew PT was needed  a bit longer than 'normal FHO surgery' since she wasn't JUST recovering from an FHO surgery, but also from not using her hind leg for most of her life...

She is doing great, and learning to 'use' her leg...she now walks, runs, and can even stand on her hind leg that she used to just 'tuck up and ignore'. And, she LOVES going...she is excited on the days she knows she is going...

GREAT place for balancing natural and mainstream treatment for dogs...

I have no complaints about the quality of service received.  The staff is very friendly and professional.  The place is nice and clean.  However, I think they are a little pricey.  I brought two dogs here to get their yearly vaccinations and was charged just under $400.  And that is strictly for the standard yearly vaccinations/yearly exam.  I didn't purchase anything extra - no meds, no tick prevention, no heartworm pills - nothing like that.  At our last vet, we would have their yearly vaccinations AND teeth cleaned for around $380, so this seems a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Response from Westridge Pet Hospital and Wellness Center
"Hello (Member name removed), We are pleased to hear that you found our services and staff be excellent, as we pride ourselves on offering the very best. The standard of care that we offer often has nuances that are not observed by pet owners. We centrifuge our fecal exams in ZnSo4, we perform DHP titer tests rather than contribute to over vaccination with annual DHP vaccines, our Rabies vaccines are mercury free, and our doctors perform full examinations of your pet at every visit (ophthalmic, otic, dental, etc.). That is just regarding our annual exams; I could talk for hours about the differences in our teeth cleaning protocols! :) I hope this explains just a bit of why you might pay more for our services. But we feel confident in saying we think your pet is worth he extra quality. In health, Dr. B"

Oh my, where to start. We are new residents to the San Antonio area. Before I left my home in Washington, I found Dr. Bammel on the Holistic Vet. website. She is so much more than I could have imagined.  She went to great lengths to find the natural hydrocortisone, my kitty was taking. I love that she combines both western medicine and holistic medicine in her care. This is exactly what I wanted. Dr. Bammel listens carefully and always makes you feel like your problem is the most important thing in the world to her. Her staff is outstanding as well. Probably the thing I like most is the fact that she is open to new ideas in care. She researches and discusses and says she is always learning. She is so approachable and makes you feel that you are a integral part of the "team".
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Bammel and her staff. If you knew how picky I was about care from my critters, you would know that I don't give an "A" rating easily.  I find her fees very reasonable as well. There is nothing I can see to improve the top notch veterinary care one gets from Dr. Bammel and her staff.

OK, so you get what you pay for.  My old vet would have charged me much less but that would have been a 15 minute walk in (and wait forever) appointment max and I would have walked out with pain killers and muscle relaxers.. or a referral to a specialty vet or a for  recommendation for an xray with sedation.
In this case, we had an appointment and did not have to wait.  There was a very gentle physical exam and lots of questions.  Dr Bammel spent nearly an hour with my dog and me.  She was very patient and did not want to push things so that my dog would not be freaked out at future visits.  She and the staff used a peanut butter stuffed "kong" to distract him during the physical exam and acupuncture.  She offered options and recommendations, openly discussed the diagnosis (explaining what was likely happening) and possible treatment including holistic, alternative and traditional.  She did not try to get him on a lift but got on the floor with him (that says a lot about a vet's approach to me).  She did not "push" the TCM herbs and health supplement I bought but did recommend them. We talked about food therapy and what that entails. She gave me sheets on how to do that if I wished.
Her staff is very efficient.  This is a one vet office and so getting in on an emergency might be a problem.  I will have to wait and see on that.  We are going back late this week for a followup.
My dog is doing well but his back problems may be severe and chronic, we will see what we can do using a mix of modalities to allow him as much quality of life as possible.  He did LOVE the home cooked dog food though...(heck I should eat it and I would be in a much better place too)!

Great we love this vet, she has now seen all four of our pets two dogs and two senior cats. I could not ask for a better veterinarian to care for our pets. I love the fact that i can drop my pet off at the pet drop of lane in the morning before work and pick them up the same way if I wish after work at no extra cost.

The surgery was performed without any problems, and Abbie is far along the road to recovery.
All of my dogs are getting older, and Dr. Bammel cares for them as she would her own. She is a credit to her profession, and an excellent  vet.

It went really well.  We paid quite a bit.  My husband actually took her and I didn’t go, but he really liked them.  He thought they were caring and love the animals and stuff like that. The price was high.

They are not open 5 days a week, and it is inconvenient. They are open 3 weekdays and open Saturdays. I would prefer 5 days a week because it gives you good flexibility. Having said that, they do a really great job. They have done a good job with my animals; they are very thorough.
Response from Westridge Pet Hospital and Wellness Center
"We are now open 6 days a week! We look forward to seeing you soon!"
