They responded to email in a matter of hours. Came to give me a quote within minutes of the time he said he would be here. The crew was here exactly when they said they would be and asked me question about how I wanted the job done, where their trucks could go and how I wanted the trunks cut and placed. It was a big job and they finished in about four hours. It didn't look as if there had ever been any trees there when they finished. That was a good thing because I had a crew coming to set forms for a foundation the following Monday.

Overall, it was a very positive experience. He was very professional along with his team. They did what they said they would do.

They were here as promised, did a very good job, and the price was just as they quoted. We haven't done any planting yet, we wanted to wait until spring when hopefully we will have more rain. I would most definitely use them again.

This was my first experience with an Angie's List referral and Alamo City Arbor Care absolutely blew me away with their professionalism, attention to detail and extremely customer-centric attitude! Here's my story: I called Jon last Tuesday (Oct. 25th) to inquire about scheduling a time to get a tree trimming estimate done at the property we just moved in to in August. The trees in both the front and the back yards were in bad shape and hadn't been taken care of in quite some time. Jon surprised me by offering to come out that same afternoon to look at the property and provide an assessment on what his team could do for us. Jon arrived to the house right on time (a little early actually!) and talked me through the options that made the most sense for our situation. After discussing it over the weekend, my wife and I chose Alamo City Arbor Care to do the work and selected the class 2 trimming option with moss removal that Jon had discussed with us. We called Jon this past Tuesday (Nov. 1) to let him know we selected their company and when we could schedule his team to do the work. He surprised us again by being able to accommodate our work/travel schedule and had his team out to our house on Thursday (Nov 3)! Jon had a 4 man crew out to our house promptly at 8:30AM on Thursday and they went straight to work. The crew leader, Scott, was great and very helpful in ensuring that none of our property was damaged during the trimming and made sure to clarify the work needed with me before everything began. Scott called me during of the middle of the work to report on the progress and clarify a question he had on a part of our yard...again, excellent customer service! My wife and I arrived home to beautifully trimmed trees in both the front and backyards that really enhanced the curb appeal of our home. There wasn't a single branch (or leaf) to be found in any part of our yard. They even took the time to clean the debris out of our pool! This experience has made me a believer in Angie's List and especially in Alamo City Arbor Care...can't recommend them high enough! Thanks again to Jon and his team...

We are thrilled that our neighbor suggested that we go on Angie's List to find someone to work on our patio and lawn because we have been disappointed on some of our past hiring endeavors. We called three landscaping contractors which were rated highly on Angie's List and they looked at our situation and listened to our dreams for our dirt pile in the back yard. Each presented an estimate and we selected Alamo City Arbor Care to do the work. They were delayed in starting our work because a previous customer liked their work and wanted them to continue on and do more improvements in her yard. We were fine with that and hoped that the rain would not come during the wait. Everything worked out great because the concrete crew started a week later and did a wonderful job. They had to roll the cement in wheelbarrows to the backyard since the truck was not able to get any closer to the site. It was heavy labor all the way and we were grateful that those hundred degree days was past. The retaining wall is three stones high and is the same color as our house. Looks fabulous! The lawn is sloped towards the french drain which is covered in large rocks so they won't wash away. Our lawn looks beautiful and is ready for any rains which may come our way. Thank you Alamo City for doing a beautiful job and thank you Angie's List for giving us the opportunity to check how other customers feel about the landscaping contractors we were interested in.

Excellent job! The trees look great and much more healthy. Job took one full day plus part of subsequent morning, so we think we got a really good bargain for a really well-done job. A plus was that the owner, John, provided us with a contact to Scott - one of his guys - who came by yesterday to do a really great job on our lawn and hedge trimming for a good price.

It went very well. John Chalker is very knowledgable when it comes to trees. He is very personable and the overall experience was great! I could not believe how much better the Live Oak looked after they were finished. My wife and I just love our new Red Oak!

Estimate was higher because of professional equipment. Other than that, the company was extremely professional with their interactions and very quick to respond. If it weren't for the price I would highly recommend them.

I have 5 trees in my yard that needed some pruning. Jon was actually here to give me an estimate within an hour of my call. He was able to come to our house and do the job that very afternoon. He kept in touch with me about when he was finishing up his morning job so that I would know when to expect them to show up. They did an excellent job on our trees and cleaned up quite well. Our front porch even looked like it had been swept off!

They were on time, very professional, very careful with our existing plantings, curteous and friendly. The price was very reasonable and we would hire again without question.

They came out the same day we called. Again, great service and very fair price. We will use Jon and his excellent crew again!

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with the work done by Jon and his crew. They did everything they said they would plus some. My trees look great! They arrived when they said and cleaned up all the limbs, branches, moss balls off the ground around the whole house. These guys definitely know what they're doing and take pride in their work.

This was the second time we had Jon and his crew perform work at our home. Their integrity is consistent, not only with their words, but also their actions. The work was superb! We have always been skeptical of flyers in the Value Pack mailers, but when we saw the Christian symbol and the listing with BBB, we thought, "Okay, God, what do you think?" Well...God gave us a two thumbs up and we called and talked with a gentleman by the name of Jon. When we met Jon the next day, we knew that he was the one for our job. Jon came over with his crew and they went right to work. When Jon's crew was finished, we were in complete amazement and delightlfully pleased with their professionalism and expertise. Please know that Jon's crew is not only skilled in tree service. His crew's craftmanship is truly artful, because his crew not only cut down the trees - they raked, swept, used their blower, mulched, and carried everything away. You would not even have know that Jon and his crew had been in our yard - our yard was perfect!

Everything went even better than I expected. All were professional and respectful. I believe about 20-25 trees were removed or trimmed; some were very big trees. All but the oaks were mulched and left as I requested. Scott also cleared out a garden for me. I would definitely hire them for any future work and the price was very fair. John called me after the job was done to make sure all went well. I highly recommend them for any job of this kind.

We used Alamo Arbor Care several times, in the past several years, for trimming mature oaks and pecan trees on our large lot. They have always done an excellent job. Out of curiosity, I asked another tree trimming company to give us an estimate on removing a large red oak and stump from our front yard. Jon Chalker beat the other company's estimate by $500.00. We were very pleased with his service and pricing. We will continue to use Alamo Arbor Care for future tree trimming or removal needs.

Had a very large, hazardous oak tree on my property line. Split down the middle. Jon was very nice in breaking the news it was not able to be saved. He came out at lunchtime, saw the tree, gave me a bid, and by 7 pm (on a Friday night!) the tree was gone, everything hauled off, and you couldn't tell I had a crew of guys in my backyard that day. I recommend Alamo City Arbor Care. Would definitely use them again!

John Chalker is very pleasant and professional to deal with which means a lot to this senior citizen. This is the third time I have used his service. I don't call him for estimates any more he does such a good job. His experienced crew showed up promptly and removed a 35 year old 40 foot ash tree from my front yard. I requested that they leave the stump to rot by itself. They also cleared the roofline of overgrown oak branches. John is insured and brings along his big truck and shredder/chipper for instant cleanup. I will not hesitate to recommend John's service to anyone needing work done on their tree's.

Jon was very friendly. He was very competitive with his price. I received some other quotes that were lower. However, I did not feel comfortable with the work they would do. Jon came down on the price by $600. And faxed me a quote within the hour.

Perfect. Had a plan (schedule) and the plan was executed perfectly. Very very pleased.

We couldn't be happier with the way our trees looks now! Mr Chalker gave us an estimate over the phone, and was able to do the work within a few days, at the same estimated cost. He did a fantastic job, and cleaned up every last limb, branch, twig, and leave. We'll definitely call on his services again when the time comes.

The job was very cleanly and professionally done. The roots were removed in at least a 6 ft. radius - the stumps were completely gone and the area was covered with mulch. An additional small peach tree stump was removed even though it had not been discussed or factored into the price. There was excellent communication before and after the job was completed - Jon gave valuable advice beforehand, and took time to answer questions afterward -- even coming back in a separate trip to take care of some tiny surface roots (far from the center of the front yard tree).

Highly Recommend!Jon came over for initial estimate the day I e-mail him on the week-end. I had a giant, dead tree that had the potential to hit the house. When I left for work there was a monster tree in the back yard... when arriving home at the end of the day--it was simply GONE, without a trace... yard perfectly level... like a MAGIC trick--all remnants of the tree were hauled away--absolutely phenomenal. Jon even took out another tree free of charge in the front yard.Would definitely business again and recommend to friends/neighbors!!!
