Alamo City Arbor Care

I made an appointment with the owner of the firm Jon Chalker to come out to my house so he could give me an estimate on the work to be performed. Jon showed up on time and after discussing what I wanted done we set up an appointment time. His crew showed up on time and they were very thorough and professional. They made sure all cuts on the trees were sealed and they cleaned up after they were finished. This was the third time I used Jon's firm and each time he gave me a an excellent price and the work performed was the best. I would recommend them to anyone who needed tree work done.

This is the second time i have used these guys. A year later it was the same people, I thought that was a good sign. They got there at 9:00 am and three guys with chain saws shot up in the trees like spider monkeys. They did most of my 6 acres in one day and cleaned up after themselves. I will be calling them again

The company was very prompt - here in a few days after the very reasonable appraisal - they even did another limb or two after I asked them in mid-work . Incredible cleanup afterward and they talked to me and carefully listened to what I wanted . The finished product is beautiful and I plan to have them back next year for my front yard tree that they could have cut this time around but they said it could wait another year - they tell the truth , not just trying to make a buck - extremely honest people!!!

Great. An appointment was made and Jon arrived on time and provided a thorough evaluation and an estimate. The crew arrived on time and did an excellent job. The clean up was also outstanding.

I contacted Jon Chalker after rain caused a drip problem from two overhangs in my back yard that I recently had covered when I had a new roof installed. He came out the same day I called to discuss what landscaping could be done to resolve the problem. Jose and Dean removed existing jasmine under one overhang and replaced it with granite. River rock was placed under and along the sides of the other overhang. They removed driveway material and replaced it with chipped limestone. Jon redesigned a new landscape and walking path in the back yard from the porch to the garage. River rocks, flagstones and granite were installed as the new landscape material. New granite was also installed on the pathways in the back yard. Jose and Dean placed mulch in the back yard beds and in a long bed along one side of the driveway. Jon and his employees, Jose and Dean, are all very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I am very pleased with the new landscaping and driveway material and highly recommend Alamo City Arbor Care.

Jon came out to do the estimate the same day I contacted him. He was professional and explained what his crew would be doing for the various jobs around the property. His estimate was the middle among three estimates we had done for the work. His team was out the following week and completed all the work in one day. They cleaned up all of the debris. Our property looks great.

In addition to the tree trimming, the crew cleaned up very thoroughly leaving no debris which I really appreciated. Jon stopprd by the following day and I paid him by check. I will definitely use this company for future service of this nature.

Great! They did what exactly they were supposed to do. They got here on time and left the place clean. They were very professional. They were expensive.

One large live oak tree was trimmed as well as 3 Chinese tallow trees. I was very pleased with the work done.

Took call in the morning, came and appraised by noon, then crew was here before 3pm - same day service and totally professional crew. Hey are extremely thorough, did more than expected, and they did an outstanding job.

Talk about a face lift!! All these years I thought I had a "trash tree" in my front yard, and it was in desperate need of a tree expert. Jon Chalker arrived as scheduled and as it turns out, I have a Water Oak, normally found in east Texas. He gave me an excellent price to prune this tree as well as 3 smaller oaks. The crew arrived exactly on time, David, Herson and Manuel and one of the things I liked the best was their "plan of action". There was a plan for the interior branches and one for the outer branches They first walked around all the trees pointing out certain things to each other as to what branches to keep and what to prune. As David (a master at his craft) climbed the tree to prune, the others quickly kept the ground picked up as well as continuing their part in the "plan of action", directing David from below when needed. The Water Oak has never looked so good and the canopy is beautiful and symmetrical. The other three smaller trees are also well balanced and shapely. Total cleanup was once again performed. I have already made plans to call Jon in 2 years for another pruning. This is an excellent company and crew and they know what they are doing. Due to Jon's knowledge of trees, my ugly duckling" trash tree" is now a healthy, beautiful swan. I have complete confidence in Alamo City Arbor Care and Jon Chalker and his crew.

I received a quote the same day I called and they arrived on time on the day they promised. These guys worked so hard and had the entire job completed and cleaned up the same day they started. Initial contact went well. Landscaper Eric arrived on schedule and offered valuable advice. Bid arrived 5 days later but was missing some of the information we had discussed. Made more attempts to contact Eric with no luck. About 10 days went by and Eric got back in touch and answered our questions. We are still working with this company to get an accurate, detail-oriented bid done.

My neighborhood had brush pickup in 1 week and my mother was anxious to get get the oaks in her front yard trimmed. The oak trees in her front yard are the most beautiful on the block. At first my mom was willing to have whoever knocked on her door do the job but once she met John all bets were off. Even though John's company was higher in price, John's professionalism and expertise won my mom over. They did a fantastic job on the trees and even hauled it all away. John and my mom didn't want her beautiful lawn to be damaged by the brush so haul away was included in the price. John personally quoted the job and came by to ensure my mom's satisfaction before he accepted her check. Awesome job!

Got to the job very quickly, sooner than predicted. Finished a big job in 2 1/2 days, did a great job, and cleaned up well. Very professional.

They men showed up on time with all of the necessary equipment (chippers and chainsaws and grinders). It was amazing to watch them in the trees working. They were very safety conscious with their harnesses. The trees were down and out quickly and the oaks were trim and cleaned up and look so much better. The area was cleaned up; not a branch or leaf left. The drought took a sever toll on the yard. Now we can work on taking the next steps to xeriscaping. I would recommend this company to anyone.

A little bit of background, my problem tree is 100+yrs old, suddenly contracted some form of root damage and was leaning over... if it had fallen it would have damaged and/or killed someone clear across through to our neighbor's yard. This wasn't a normal tree-trim, this was an emergency and I needed this tree work done fast so I could in good conscience sleep at night not wondering how much more I'd pay if it fell. Before reaching Jon, I had four contractors look at my tree, one of those contractors failed to show up on Sunday as promised and I subsequently dropped them from the project. I contacted Jon at 8:10am Monday morning since the previous contractor was dropped and I asked him to if he could show up and provide a quote. He arrived on-time in the morning to check out my problem tree. He gave me two quotes, one that included the entire tree removal + hauling of the debris and then an option of trimming the tree (all trunks), hauling the small branches and leaving the wood so I can use it for BBQs. I of course chose to have BBQ wood around and the price was better than the four other contractors that came on-site (two of which quoted me at $2k+, another at $1500 and another at $1200) for the same work and specifications. Jon's team arrived right when he said they would (same day service by the way). They started immediately and I was able to watch them work like a team throughout. The work was done within 3-4 hours (other contractors quoted 2 full days of work) and they cut the tree into chunks so I could use as firewood, which was a really nice touch. Jon's team made everything looks so easy... when you know how to do your job well, that is exactly what it looks like to everyone else, the truth is the work is hard-work, a skilled team just makes it appear easy. I am very impressed they finished so quickly/promptly... which was a huge item for me because I was stressing out over the tree falling over. I knew Jon threw in trimming some overhanging branches that were above my driveway and reaching to my roof from the neighbor's yard. So, when my wife asked me if we could get Jon to cut down a small minor tree that was coming up close to the house I knew we were pushing our luck. When we asked Jon, he didn't even bother charging extra... he just had it done while his team was on-site... what-a-guy! Alamo City Arbor Care is in my opinion a top notch company, they know what they are doing and do the job well. I believe their prices are very good especially in consideration of the speed and quality of work they perform. I would highly recommend contacting Jon before going to any other tree trimming service.

Came right over when called to look and give me a bid. Good bid and available immediately to do the work. Completed all work same day and did a very god job. Cleaned up areas.

The job took two days to complete. A crew of four came on the first day and worked all day. The second day another crew came to assist the first and the work was completed about 5pm. They were punctual and always willing to accommodate my personal taste in style of trimming. This is the third or fourth time we have had Alamo City Arbor Care trim our trees, but this time it required trimming every tree in the yard. They always treat the fresh wounds on the trees to protect against oak wilt.

Jon and his crew did a great job. Jon was very timely from bid to completion of all work. Crew was great and left my home and yard spotless. They did a great job and I will be using Alamo City Arbor Care again. Thanks for a job well done.

***UPDATE 8/27/14*** There was a misunderstanding on my correct email address, so I never received the quote. But the gentleman did in fact provide me a fair quote the very next day as he promised. The email address he had was one letter off, so that is why I never got it. He called me the next day after my initial review (below) to explain that he sent it. So please disregard my earlier review. I would not hesitate to recommend Alamo City Arbor Care in the future. Showed up for the first consultation & said would give a quote in a couple of days. Never heard back from him or anyone else. Luckily the other company I had come out the same day DID call me back & they got the job.

Jon showed up with a 3 man team who seemed very knowledgeable. They went right to work and the job was completed within 2 hours. I was impressed that the workers were very diligent about treating all the wounds on the live oaks. When they were done trimming, they cleaned up all debris including the mess left by the wood chipper. The yard was left nice and neat without even a twig on the ground.

I was very pleased with this company from the first contact. They did what they said they would do at a reasonable cost. They cut into pieces the limb,removed the fragments and hauled away debris in about an hour's time. I was impressed how they managed the complex task without any errors which could have caused damage to either my or my neighbor's house.
