Alamo City Arbor Care

We had purchased a commercial building with trees and shrubs on the lot that had been neglected for a significant time. I received bids for tree work from four tree businesses. Alamo City Arbor Care was, without a doubt, the most responsive and knowledgeable. Jon listened to my requests, told me of all the available discounts and priced the job immediately. His bid was much less than every other bid I had received and he was able to start immediately. Jon and his crew are true tree experts. The extensive trimming that was done to the trees was perfect and the clean-up was so complete you could not tell they had even been there. The crew was efficient, polite and completed the work in just a few hours. I highly recommend Alamo City Arbor Care and will use them again whenever we have any work to be done.

Excellent! Within a day after placing my request for a bid, Jon Chalker came to examine what I needed done. He gave me a price which I feel was reasonable and we agreed to proceed. The following morning, Jon called to say he had his crew ready to go and they could be at my house in a couple of hours. The crew arrived arrived on-schedule with a cherry picker big enough to park in the street and extend across my front yard. Robert was the crew leader and equipment operator. He did all the cutting and two young men gathered the limbs and logs and placed them into a heavy duty wood chipper. They all knew what to do and went about their task very quickly and professionally. Precisely when Robert was on the final step of cutting the remaining stump at ground level, another truck arrived with a stump grinder. It took Robert a few minutes to grind the stump and all root extensions. This is hard, hot work and these guys went at it non-stop and had the entire job done and cleaned up in about 3 hours. Then Jon called and told me he had overlooked a discount for this being an Angie's List order. and lowered his quote to reflect the discount. And, at my request, the crew agreed to dump as much as I wanted of the mulched wood in a bed next to the street. I would definitely use Alamo City Arbor Care again and highly recommend them to others needing professional arbor care.

We contacted John through Angie's list Friday and exchanged emails that same day. He then contacted me Saturday afternoon and met us at the house and provided an estimate for the work. I explained we were on a tight schedule and he said he would try to get work done during the next week. He called Monday and said he could do the job that afternoon. The crew of 6 with all the right equipment arrived promptly at 4 PM and were done at 5:30. Workers were polite, professional and got the job done quickly and efficient and left the work site clear of debris. I would definitely use Alamo City Arbor Care again and highly recommend this company.

We have utilized their services before, so we knew what to expect. Jon responded promptly to our service request we made through Angie's List, met with us at our home, and provided a reasonable quote. He was able to fit us into his schedule within the next two days. His crew did a great job pruning and trimming a total of four trees. They hauled away the limbs and cleaned up the yard. Excellent value for the work performed; when we need the trees pruned again, we will definitely use Alamo City Arbor Care!

Everything went great. Was able to get service 2 days after initial contact. 2 guys showed up on time, took about 2 hours, brought their own chipper and cleaned up. Exactly what was promised. Thank you.

Superb response to 'storm damage.' Called company for estimate, this was done within the day - service completed within the week. Lots of damage to 4 trees because of the storm. Jon & Company took care of all requests and left yard in spectacular condition. Will definitely use this business again!

Overall disappointed, especially after the reviews here. The Good: - The crew onsite was polite and hardworking. Foreman Robert was professional and polite. - First part of the day the work was excellent and I have no complaints. The Bad: - The crew was too small for the job. By the afternoon there were only 3 people and they were clearly rushed and overwhelmed. - The quality of the work was not as high, things were missed. - Shortcuts were taken resulting in collateral damage in the yard. - When I pointed out some punch list activities at the end of the day, instead of taking out the appropriate equipment, they took shortcuts resulting in more tearing rather than cutting. - No follow-up despite letting the person who collected the check know that I wasn't really happy. I would say that this company might be just fine for smaller jobs, as the work was quite good early in the day. Clearly they underestimated the work and didn't have the resources in the afternoon to complete the job and avoid damage caused by tired people trying to finish up quickly. Note that I did NOT ask for the job to be done cheaply nor on a specific timeline - I asked John to have the job done right. I feel I paid a premium price yet didn't receive the value for money that I expected.

Service was scheduled for next week. On Friday got a call since it had been raining previous client could not be done. If we approved they could be here in an hour. They promptly arrived and started working. Arborist had found two diseased trees that other quotes had missed. He advised us on which trees should come down and why others should stay. He also told us on how we could have the trees trimmed to keep them healthy. The workers came to tell us about a branch they had to cut off since it did not meet the city requirements for over the street. At the end the workers cleaned all the debris off the metal roof and of course in the yard.

.Alamo City Arbor... was called Monday morning...Missed call. Jon called back shortly. Problem was discussed. He came by with a reasonable estimate. He and crew later showed up with a lift truck and chipper. The work quickly began. Everyone involved was efficient and safe. The cleanup was very thorough. A job well done by all. All in one day.

I call them to take care of an old tree that was falling apart - a big branch had fallen on the street the night before. Came for an assessment the morning I call and within a day they were at my home to take care of all we have arranged. They are willing to take the extra mile and they are very responsive to clients demands. I have used this company in the past and every time I get a bet for my trees (trimming or taking them down) this company is the one that provides the best price. Also, they are willing to work with you regarding a convenient time. Don't look further, this is the company you need.

I was very happy with the quality of the service provided. The crew that came to work on the tree (3 people) were polite, professional, and seemed to know exactly what they were doing. I was pleased with the look of the tree when they finished. They cleaned up all their work and left my yard looking nice. My only complain about them was that as they were finishing up the job, one or two of them started smoking cigarettes in my front yard. I do not smoke, and don't allow smoking at my house - - I think they should have waited to do that until they were off my property. (However, they didn't leave butts or anything like that -- it just made it gross for me when I went out to inspect the final job). When I wanted to schedule the job, I did struggle to get an exact time -- the owner wanted me to just allow them to come by without notice (tree was in my front yard and accessible) and couldn't provide a specific day. I really wanted to be at home for the job however, so I insisted on a schedule day. Owner told me he'd call back soon with a specific day. However, he must have sensed that I was frustrated with the lack of a specific day, because he called me back within an hour and offered to have a crew come perform the work that day, which I appreciated.

They did a great job! Jon arrived on schedule and provided a reasonable quote. He is a very knowledgeable arborist and provided various options regarding the limbs that needed to be removed. The work was completed when scheduled and done in a professional manner. I will definitely to use them in the future and highly recommend them to others.

This is the third different tree service company I've tried over the years and by far the best! Their estimate wasn't the lowest (several hundred dollars higher than some other companies), but clearly the saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. They thoroughly cleaned up all trees, removed tree branch growth threats to the house/roof and did a good job picking up the mess. When they were done, I did a walk around, and they were more than happy to accommodate my request to trim a couple branches a little bit further back from the house.

I would like to give this company a grade of A+. From the estimate until the job was finished everything was top notch. They do an excellent job of listening to you and taking care of everything you want to done and do it in a timely manner. True professionals every step of the way, very friendly and knowledgeable. They definitely go above and beyond to get the job done. I would definitely recommend and will use again in the future.
