Jon came by early the previous week to review the project, provide advice and provide an estimate. Jon advised that It may be early the following week to schedule the work and was on target completing the work yesterday, 9 Feb 16. The oak trees in the front lawn (five mid size oaks combining into a single canopy) had over grown, becoming too thick and prevented sun light from reaching any of the front lawn. Needless to say, grass and plants underneath were having problems. Alamo City Arbor Care crew arrived and immediately began work. Very professional and knew "exactly" what needed to be done. Thinned out the canopy and pruned all the "suckers" and ball moss. The trees look "great" and the front lawn is seeing sunshine! They also trimmed limbs overhanging the fence in my back lawn from my neighbors trees and, planted two 30 gal Monterey oak trees in my back lawn. Once completed, they cleaned up ALL the limbs, leaves and debris. Except for the great results, it was like they were never there! The team were all friendly, professional and responsive. While the final cost was somewhat more than originally planned, the old adage "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. The Alamo City Arbor care folks are highly recommended and certainly a company you "at least" want on your list of estimators if you are in the market for, or in need of, a great tree service company.

The 3-man crew worked fast & carefully. I was told how to care for tree in the next few months until it is established.

3 guys came and cut down an Oak Tree. They waste no time. Very professional and they get right to the job at hand. Since there are 3 of them, they are constantly picking up and keeping the street clean as they are cutting the tree down. We also had them grind the stump. Once they left, you wouldn't even know they were here, everything was cleaned up. I will definitely use this company again.

Fantastic work especially in trimming our large oak canopy and ball moss removal. Our trees had not been trimmed back in years by the previous homeowner. I can not believe the impact on how much light filters through after the work was completed. This company was recommended by my father and highly rated on Angie's List. I would highly recommend Alamo City Arbor Care and will use them again in the fall.

First Visit Purchased the Tree Health and Risk Assessment. Jon was great. He took me to each tree and identified each type, expected life spans, hardiness, any risks associated with my residence due to falling/roots/etc., and answered all questions. Best part, I never felt rushed like I was wasting his time. He stayed until he was sure I had it all. Second Visit Jon and his crew came out and got to work, they were polite and quick. One of the trees had been growing inside of a bed (font yard), they were able to avoid ruining any surrounding plants nor the border to the bed. When pulling out the oleander, there was a small pecan sprout they made the effort of avoiding/saving (thank you). Trees were trimmed, stumps ground down, and debris hauled off. Overall: Awesome. I don't often come across this sort of professionalism. I appreciate it.

After being stood up by Davey Tree Service on Dec. 31(it had been booked for 5 months) I called Jon at Alamo city arbor for an estimate. He came to my house within 1 hour of the call. His quote was slightly higher than Davey but he was ready to get started the next day. The crew was right on time the next morning and finished the job in 3 hours as Jon had estimated. The pruning of our trees was outstanding and they left our yard cleaner than when they arrived. I highly recommend Alamo City Arbor Care for any job you might have.

We had the future home staked out, but were will to change the foot print if we could preserve more trees. His guidance was exactly what we needed. He looked at each of the trees whose root ball or umbrella could be damaged by construction and provided us an assessment of each tree's chances and worth of surviving. With his input, we prepared our city tree permit which was subsequently approved.

This was our second time to use Jon and his crew. They pruned all our trees (approx 10-12) - front and back - removed all deadwood, stubs, sucker growth, raised the canopies and cleared away branches from the roof and any going on our neighbors property. Painted all cuts. Did a major pruning of overgrown shrubs in 2 areas of our yard. Also removed one large overgrown "spikey" bush from the side of the house. Cleaned up was so good you would never know they had been there (except everything looked so much better). Did a great job. Would use again. Jon is easy to work with - responsive and returns calls. Crew was good as well - very professional.

Jon was very responsive - came out the same afternoon I called to give me a bid. We had recently moved into the house, and the yard needed some tlc. Work was completed a few weeks later, per our schedule. We had 2 Italian Cypress trees removed that were too close to the foundation, and in an unsightly area; (looks so much better now!) as well as some large, overgrown Holly bushes in the front and back yard that were blocking windows and the back deck. The Holly bush stumps were ground out. Alot of the remaining shrubs were overgrown and in need of major trimming. They also removed tree stakes that were no longer being used (trees had grown and pulled away), and a general clean up of the yard. The crew was great - worked in 100 degree plus temp. quickly and clean up was perfect. They brought plants to replace some of the Holly bushes and planted those for us. Because some of the shrubs needed to be cut way back, we decided to have them trimmed up a bit and then wait until cooler weather to cut them back more. Overall, a positive experience. Had them return in November to prune multiple trees, and raise the canopies and do the major cutting on the shrubs discussed earlier. Would recommend their services!

The arborist gave a few recommendations on improving the health of our trees. He did not push any products or services.

After Mr. Chalker completed an amazing job of cutting down and removing a 60-year old, 30 foot Arizona Ash tree from my mother's front yard, it was time to discuss a replacement tree for the front yard. On Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the evening, I called Mr. Chalker to ask him to recommend a good tree that would do well with the soil in my mother's front yard as well as provide lots of shade to her house. Mr. Chalker made two recommendations and told me to research them to see which one my mother would prefer. The very next morning, 8 a.m., I called Mr. Chalker with my mother's decision, a Red Oak. By noon on Friday, November 6, 2015, the new, 95-gallon Red Oak was planted and mulched. Mr. Chalker and his team have the experience, the equipment and the know-how to get a job of this magnitude completed in a efficient and organized manner. I am very impressed with Mr. Chalker's operation and his professionalism. He and his team should be commended for the outstanding job they performed in removing a huge tree and planting a new one in its place.

On November 4, 2015 at approximately 7:30 pm , I arrived at my mother's house to find a branch from her Arizona Ash tree laying on her car. Literally, it was one-third of the tree on her car. Me nor my chainsaw could fix this mess. I located my Angie's List magazine, since my mother does not have a computer, and called two arborists. From the break of the tree it looked sickly, I could tell we would need an arborist if we had any hope of saving it. At approximately 9:15 pm that same evening, Mr. Chalker returned my call and we made arrangements for him to visit the very next morning at 9 a.m. I was very impressed and happy that Mr. Chalker understood the emergency nature of this incident. It appears he moved other scheduled appointments to accommodate us. As a side note, the other arborist never returned my call to this day (11/16/15). Mr. Chalker arrived at 9 a.m. like he said he would. First thing he did was remove the tree from my mother's car so we could deal with that issue of getting it towed to a collision center. He assessed the situation and recommended the tree to come down for the tree was ill and was no longer safe to have it in the yard. Mr. Chalker has an amazing operation with all the appropriate up-to-date equipment and he and his crew were extremely experienced and professional. Within hours the tree was cut down to the dirt and the stump was ground down to nothing. With their mulcher and dump trunk, there was no evidence the tree was ever there. I grew up with this tree, it was my family's Giving Tree. It provided great shade to the house. As sad as it was saying good-bye, upon request, Mr. Chalker left a 4-inch cut of the trunk for our memories of our tree. Cutting the tree down was the right thing to do.

Been using Jon for several years. This time I had him cut down a Huge Monterrey oak that was planted too close to my live oaks and the house. His crew was fast, professional, safe, clean and careful. It was amazing to see. They chipped all the wood for recycling, cleaned up and were gone before noon. Just excellent work and I couldn't have been happier. Plus when I contemplated doing this I imagined it would cost $1000 more than what he charged. Totally satisfied with the work and the price.

We had a large pecan tree removed and some work done on many other large mature trees. Alamo City Arbor Care did a fantastic job with the service and we were pleased with the quality and price. They also did a fantastic job of cleaning up after completing the service. Great job overall.

We asked to have a certified arborist come out to our house to evaluate trees for trimming and bracing. Alamo City Arbor Care was not responsive to our emails or phone calls. Made excuses once I reached him by phone. I gave him a second chance by rescheduling our appointment and he was a no show with no phone call. I specifically asked him to call if he could not make it. We will not be calling back to reschedule!

This is my second time using Alamo City Arbor Care. We have two large trees in our front yard and one in the backyard. Within 24 hours of reaching out to them, I received a call back regarding my request and Jon set a time to go by the house and check our trees for an estimate. They were able to take care of the tree trimming and maintenance within a week. I would definitely use this service again.

The company is very professional and did an outstanding job. The only minor problem encountered was coordinating with the business owner. He is very busy and his phone goes to voice mail often. But he and his crew were very professional and when all was said and done - it was a very good job that they accomplished. The crew arrived with a lot more equipment than I had ever imagined. They brought a cherry picker truck with a chipper/shredder pulled along behind. Another pickup arrived with a trailer that had the stump removal and grinder equipment. They worked quickly and safely. They trimmed all the dead wood, removed branches that extended over my neighbor's property, and cut down all the smaller sucker branches. When the ash tree was done it looked great. The juniper came down quickly and after hauling the branches away, the stump removal/grinder was brought into my yard and it made short work of that stubborn stump. They hauled all the debris to the chipper/shredder and it chewed everything up and sent it into the truck to haul away. They got out rakes and got up the small sticks to haul away.

Jon Chalker, the owner, and his team are the best. This is the third time we have used him and he never disappoints. I was scheduled for service at a later time and called Jon to let him know that my home was going to be photographed this coming Monday. The call was made on Wednesday. Jon came through. Was able to schedule me for Friday and then sent them on Thursday. This helped us immensely as we had other services coming to get the house ready for photographing. His customer service is superb! The crew arrived, Mike the supervisor, introduced himself and went over the details of what was to be done. The crew got to work, were professional, skillful and timely. It is a garden home so they had to be extra careful of my neighbor's roof. Everything was spotless when they left (including my neighbor's roof). Once again, GREAT JOB!!!! Highly recommend for "Pages of Happiness" and Super Service Award!!

The service worked out okay. The quality of the evaluation was sort of helpful, but we had some issues.

The job they did was good but I was put in an uncomfortable situation with the workers. I was expecting Mr. Chalker to call after the work was done but I never heard back.

I contacted John (assume he's the owner). After leaving all my preferred times and dates on Angies list (what a waste of time, as he didn't sound like he had reviewed it). Anyways he was real nice and said he had a few evaluations to do on Saturday the 26th of Sept and he would come out to the house (didn't give a time). I left a msg for him in the early afternoon to see if he was coming or not. He again was very nice, explaining how he got tied up w/ his equipment helping his church that morning (our call was around 2 pm). He had a few evaluations to do but would be out at my place in a few hours. At 5:30 I contacted him again and he was real nice again explaining the 3 evaluations took a little longer than he thought they would. He had another evaluation to do off of San Pedro and would swing out to my place afterwards (I live by Sea World; no where near San Pedro). I told him I was having guests over around 6 pm so maybe we could reschedule for Monday. He said no problems he would get his crews going on Monday and give me a call to come out. So at 1150 no calls or visit, called the business # which goes directly to his cell phone and left a message letting him know I was a little disappointed with the services so far and that if he didn't want to do the evaluation (he is out of Schertz) then he should let me know. As of 1253 no response and I've contacted Angies list to get my refund and to schedule with another company. Alamo City Arborist, I reviewed you on Angies list and on the BBB and you have good ratings. Sorry that things did not work out due to your over scheduling yourself. With that said you have to run a business and this is not a good way to do it.

Excellent! Jon the owner and arborist came to make the assessment the first business day after I contacted him. He walked around my property and listened to my concerns and examined all the trees in my yard. He brought a couple of additional things to my attention. After the assessment he sent me a written itemized estimate of each project discussed. I decided to break the work up into three projects over the coming months. Today his crew came and trimmed our pear tree. They were careful to move my wife's potted flowers to keep them from being struck by falling limbs. They did a very professional job, removing the limbs and mulching them, cleaning up the small debris from the yard, and putting the flower pots back in place. i paid by credit card over the phone. I plan to use their service again in coming months. well done to Jon and his crew!

Called and left voicemail with a few providers I found through Angie's List. John of Alamo City Arbor Care called me the next day and I asked for a bid on the tree removal. Once I let him know the location of the house, John let me know he would stop there at the end of the day then call me back with a bid. He called the next day and after I had heard back from a couple other providers also with bids, I called John to give him the job. I asked he do the job as soon as he could schedule it, he was able to get it done the next day. His crew removed the tree and hauled it away, leaving the area as clean as they had found it. Very satisfied with the service and the price. Thanks John!

Alamo City Arbor Care arrived for the estimate at the appointed time. He gave us a reasonable estimate and good advice about caring for the trees. They were doing a job at the zoo and were able to handle our job the next day. They were throughly professional in everything they did. They also cleaned the leaves off our metal roof and trimmed some hedges in our driveway (where one of our trees were). We will definitely be calling them the next time we trim our trees.

I called them.. they had the job done before the end of the week.. friendly, fast, and not overpriced ( I have a lot of trees)
