United Mayflower Storage & Moving Containers

5 pods were delivered on different days to my house in San Antonio. Since I could not get a United/Mayflower crew I hired a local moving company to load them. The pods were then stored in San Antonio for a year while we traveled in our RV. At the end of our travels we settled in WA state and requested that the pods be delivered to out new home. Four of the pods were delivered without any damage. However, the fifth pod had obviously been dropped or mishandled. The kitchen table was broken in half. A dresser was broken. Several boxes were smashed/crushed. Many pieces of furniture had marred, scratched, and broken legs. Dishes were broken. Lamps were broken. An artistic glass coffee table had several chips and scratches. The total damage came to about $8,000. I contacted the claims department. They advised me to keep all the broken pieces for possible inspection. During the next month I called and left 6-7 messages asking about the status of my claim with no response. After almost 6 weeks I receive an email telling me my claim was refused because they did no pack the pods. They took my money for insurance knowing full well that their people did not load the pods. I consider this to be nothing less than fraud. Again I have contacted the claims agent and her supervisor and left messages. They still have not responded. This is just another one of those stories about a dishonest moving company. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN ! I did file a complaint with the FTC since United/Mayflower is an interstate carrier.
