I have hated that dark entry room ever since we built this house in 2010 and tried brightening it by hanging a full-length mirror on one wall which didn't help at all. I had mentioned putting in a Sola-Lite to my husband several times, but we have a tile roof, and because we had fireplace flashing leaks in another tile-roofed house we lived in he didn't think the flashing would keep blowing rain out. I finally researched it on Angie's List and thought the flashing would work. I corresponded via Angie's with Jeremy, the manager of the San Antonio office, and he assured me that the flashing was developed in Southern California for many tile roofs and that it definitely would work. He suggested bringing my husband to their showroom to see the products and talk to him. It took a while, but we finally did just that, and Jeremy sort-of convinced him, and he agreed to have one installed. The appointment was made for the next week, and Gary arrived at the appointed time and about 4 hours later was finished. He was amazing and cleaned up so well you could only tell he had been here by the beautiful bright light in the ceiling!  Even better, we recently have had almost record breaking rain, and we haven't had even a tiny bit of a leak!!  I only wish I had taken a before picture so everyone could see what a difference it has made. At first the light, especially on cloudy days, seemed to have a slight blue tint to me, and we picked up a Warming Effect Lens  at no cost to us which was easily inserted in the frame, and now the light is a warm, bright, sunny color. We couldn't be happier and have only had the lights in that room on one time during the day on a very dark cloudy early morning!

Installer came to my home at the appointed time.  We discussed the locations for 2 Solarlights, and he went into our attic and figured out the best exact location taking into consideration the attic rafters and the roof rafters.  He was here for about 5 hours.  There was no mess what so ever.  He was very courteous and helpful, expaining what he was doing.  The kitchen is now very much brighter, but not too bright.

I read seveal of the reviews of Angie's list members and decieded they must have something good to offer.  I contacted the company and ten days later I had the vents installed.  I have mentioned in previous reviews that I am a skeptic...no excuses.  These vents seem to work really well as my attic was noticeably cooler.  I won't be able to fully tell until next summer, but I'm betting that these vents will pay for themselves in a couple of summers.  Gary, the technician who installed the vents was as professional as they come and answered my many questions.  I had a couple of electrical fans installed the past summer and they clearly were no doing what they were billed to do.  These vents are keeping the attic cooler.

We received a call saying he was running late which was appreciated. He then arrived when expected and installed a sola-tube in a dark hallway. Quick, professional and completed a very neat and clean installation. We would absolutely use them again.

Lawton was very courteous and professional. He explained exactly how the solar fans work and didn't leave until all questions were answered. Time will tell if the fans make a difference but they are already pulling out a huge amount of hot air.

Back in 2013 we installed two 14 inch Sola Tubes in the living room. Before dark and cave like during the daylight hours even with the blinds open.  Dramatic change with the tubes.  Now we have a bright living room and just could not be happier with the results.
May 2014 had two of the larger attic fans installed. Prior we just had two turtle dome passive vents.  I have not been back up in the attic since the install but I am sure things are much better.
Very dependable company.  Arrived on time.  Very professional and cleaned up after themselves.  If you are looking for a relatively cheap way to brighten your Cave, then you probably want to look into this Company.  I will give them 2 thumbs up!

The salesman in their office was very informative. We assumed we should install two units. He suggested the installer to determine if we should install one or two. When he arrived, he agreed two would be better light in the room. He installed both of them in August on a very hot day. He spent a great deal of time in our attic with no complaints. Installation went great and have enjoyed natural light in our living room from sun up to sun down. The tubes do through great light even on cloudy days.

We have 2 friends who have Solalites in their homes and were impressed with the amount of light they give to a space. My husband and I decided to have a large Solalite (with light kit) installed in our kitchen which we love so munch we had them come out again and install another 2 Solalites. One in our laundry room and the second in a bathroom. The following week we had a new roof put on our home and the owner of the roofing company commentated that the Solalites were "nice". We are very pleased with the company, installer Gary and the Solalites! Thank You! Highly Recommended!!!

They were very good, they were a higher quality than some of my neighbors had gotten from someone else. I decided to go to their showroom, and they had a completely dark room with no windows, and no doors, and they walked in, and they opened solar lights, and I could see it was much better than my neighbors. They came out and gave us estimates, and they had different designs.

We had talked with office staff over 1 1/2 years ago, but other needs had priority before the installation of the solatubes we had seen at friend's home.  We felt the pricing was fair, the work professional, and the product excellent!  Will recommend to neighbors and friends!

Went good.  Made appointment on phone and guy came out next morning.  I had a $60 off from mail flyer.  Guy installed it fast.  He was neat, clean, nice, professional.  And this thing puts out quite a bit of light during the day.  Installed it in a stairway and provides great light.  Then at night it automatically comes on and uses 4 LEDs to provide light at night.  I would say the LEDs provide about 100 to 150 watts of incandescent light equivalent.

We live 30 miles north of town in Spring Branch.  The day after I called Sola Tube, Gary came by and gave us an estimate.  (The estimate cost $60.)
In less than a week, all of our Sola Tubes' flashings were replaced.
Gary was efficient, friendly, and unobtrusive.
I rank Sola Tubes as an A+.

The company did an excellent job! My initial contact with the owner was very informative. He provided great information regarding how to best ventilate my complicated attic and suggested both intake (bring in fresh air) and exhaust vents to evacuate air from the attic. He also suggested we use thermo switches so the units would work only when the temperature reached a specified temperature. Installation of the vent fans and accompanying solar panels was flawless and very neat. Gary, the installation technician was very polite and efficient. Once the work was completed, Gary cleaned up the work areas very well. Since we are now moving into winter, I can't tell just how this installation will effect my overall cooling costs but I am extremely pleased with the overall process. On a few warm days the units have run and are so quiet that I had to go to the attic to actually check that they were in fact operating.

Our installer, Gary, was very responsive to my questions and gave me a firm quote after looking in the attic to determine placement, etc. of the Solatube. Our entry hallway is long (19 1/2 feet) and was very dark requiring us to turn on the lights even in the daytime before answering the door or even going outside through the front door. We thought about replacing the solid front door with one with glass but that would have cost us 2 to 4 times as much as installing the Solatube and we still wouldn't have gotten as much light. Also, we like a solid door for privacy and didn't really want one with a glass panel. After Gary installed the 10-inch basic Solatube it literally was a difference between night and day! Daylight now floods our hallway and my husband and I couldn't be more pleased! We hope to have one put in our master bath (no window) and in a large butler's pantry area (no window) between the kitchen and dining areas in the future.

John was very pleasant and professional. He explained in detail the procedure of installation. Also helpful in making suggestions on placement of Solatubes. Our utility room was extremely dark with only moderate light when the overhead light was turned. We were constantly flipping on the light switch when going in and out of the garage and of course doing daily laundry. The bathroom closet was another dark area. Lighting was also dim. We were amazed at the difference the Solatubes made in our home. We keep laughing whenever we walk out of one of these rooms, telling each other "don't forget to turn off the light!". This was one of the best home improvements we have made. We are already thinking of other areas we want to add the Solatubes. You won't be sorry if you go with SOLA-LITE,

As soon as we moved to San Antonio in 2009 we called Sola-Lite to install attic fans and a sola-tube in a dark, upstairs bathroom. In 2009, Gary came out and was courteous, professional and very knowledgeable about the products. That visit went seamlessly and we were very happy with the fans, skylight , and service we received. Plus, our energy bills did decrease! In May of 2013 we noticed one of the attic fans was not functioning. I called Sola-Lite and the receptionist was super welcoming and helpful; she got me scheduled for the very next day. Jon came out spot-on time and was friendly and competent. He replaced the non-working fan from the outside in less than 1/2 hour and confirmed that the new fan was working properly. There was no charge because the fan was still under the 5 year warranty. Easy-Peasy!

I have always wanted a skylight and after speaking with Sola-Lite at recent home show, I made an appointment to have my bathroom light and fan replaced with a small daylight .  Installer arrived promptly and was very patient with me and my many questions.  After much discussion and reviewing of all options, I actually went with a larger diameter and different placement of Sola-Lite.  I am amazed at how much light these units let in.  You do not have to have the lights on even after the sun goes down.  I couldn't be happier and just wish I hadn't waited so long.   I am planning on having more installed.

I had heard about solatubes on a home improvement radio show so I looked into them and decided they would be the perfect solution to my dark bathrooms. I've always wanted natural lighting in the baths. I checked out the various brands online and then went to Angie's list to check out Sola-Lite.
When I called to set up an appointment the woman I spoke with was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She helped me select the size of the tubes and answered my questions about a dimmer switch and gave me prices.
The installer called me on the appointment day to ask if he could come early because the job site for an install before before mine wasn't ready yet. When he arrived he got up onto the roof and then into the attic to make sure there were no obstacles and to check placement options. I agreed to the price and his recommendations so he got to work. He was very professional and courteous. He did a wonderful job, cleaned up any mess and I am thrilled that I now have natural lighting in my baths.

We have been considering getting Solatubes in our home for several years.   Talked to the Sola-Lite representative (Gary) at the recent San Antonio Home & Garden Show, and arranged to have a representative provide us recommendations for location(s) and sizes of Solatube(s) for our house.   The representative who we talked to at the show, Gary, was also the Sola-Lite representative/installer who provided us expert recommendations on where we would best benefit from Solatubes, given our objective our increasing the lighting in our family room and kitchen areas.   Gary installed the family room Solatube on March 4th, and returned the following Monday to install the kitchen area Solatube.    In both instances he was very punctual, professional, and completed each installation in a bit less than 2 hours.   The Solatubes work fantastically in providing natural light to both areas, so much so that we haven't had to turn on any electric lights during the daytime in either location since the Solatubes were installed.   Gary was meticulous in cleaning the work area following the installations, and used large sheets to protect the floor and kitchen sink area from debris during the respective installations.
Response from The Guild Collective - San Antonio

"Thank you for taking the time to write this great and thorough review. You hit on several things that we take great pride in, and that we think many contractors overlook nowadays. When dealing with Sola-Lite Incorporated, our expectation is that our Certified Installation Consultants be on-time, courteous, clean and extremely knowledgeable. This last part is nicely illustrated in your review. The reason they are called Certified Installation Consultants (CICs), instead of installers, is that they are the absolute professionals in their field. Just being an amazing installer is not enough to work here, and anyone who meets our team notices that right away. That is why we have them work at events/Home and Garden Shows. Very few companies are willing to allow their "installers" to interact directly with homeowners for fear of undermining a sale or not knowing enough about the products they install. They have to rely on salespeople, who in turn know very little about the installation process...but sure know how to nickel and dime you. Not us! We do not have professional salespeople here. What we do have is a highly skilled and knowledgeable team determined to answer all questions professionally, to make spot-on recommendations, and to treat your home with the utmost respect when you allow us to install our Solatube Daylighting and Solar Star Attic Fans! Also, thank you so much for posting the photos of your Kitchen and Living Room. WOW! What a difference, and to think, that is all natural light! Thank you again."

Solalite team did an incredible job, utilities went down because the attic isn't heating up, they were clean, proffessional and I highly recommend them.
I have had them come and do my mothers home as well.  They take care of everything, so there aren't any don'ts that I can think of.
As for DO's...just enjoy...Oh- Don't freak out when the tube is connected and the amount of light comes in is vast, the diffuser spreads the light to all areas...

I love it when a previous customer believes in us so much that he calls us prior to closing on his new house in order to schedule his Solatube and Solar Star Attic Fan installations. There is so much that goes into moving, and it warms our hearts to know that we were a priority in your new home! Your enthusiasum towards us and our products is amazing. Thank you!"
