Sunrise Restoration

The worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner, is trusting David Montelongo and Sunrise Restoration with a significant and expensive remodel project on my home. I paid him to do a full electrical rewire of the house, replace an existing sewer line, install a new sewer line, make approximately 100 drywall patch repairs, repaint the entire interior of the home, renovate a 500 square-foot area of the home, and install a 600 square-foot concrete patio at the back of the house. While some of his work was acceptable, overall, it was an absolute disaster working with him and his company. This job should've taken no more than 12 weeks for a semi competent general contractor. He started the first week of June, and told me the project would be finished by end of august. He agreed to end of august because he knew I had California Closets installing custom cabinetry in multiple locations in the renovated area, and he agreed to be finished prior to the installation. As I write this review on 1/16/2022, the job is still is not fished over six months since the start. David Montelongo is a liar, a cheater, and a thief. I have never met someone so narcissistic, apathetic, and so incapable of admitting when he is wrong. I wonder to myself how he is still in business. Then I discovered that he actually has had several companies prior to Sunrise Restoration that have all failed or defaulted. Now knowing the type of person he is, I am not surprised. I believe he is a career con artist, and has done an excellent job of inflating himself to be something he is not. He is not a general contractor, he is a failed reality TV star, and he fancies himself as some huge real estate celebrity. It is shameful that he holds himself out as a general contractor, because, based on my experiences with him, I do not believe he has any idea what he's doing. He wastes time, makes lots of mistakes, doesn't catch mistakes his subcontractors make, and has no idea how to effectively manage projects. He also seems financially irresponsible, and incredibly slimy. Just look at his LinkedIn page. Awful. I recently discovered that he did not pay his federal income taxes for a number of years, and in 2019 was slapped with a federal tax lien for nearly $40,000. You have to think, if this guy is shady and dishonest with his own money, he's probably shady and dishonest with yours. Many of David's recently posted reviews on his social media were actually written several years ago, but he's trying to make it seem that these are all new. His ex-wife and business partner conveniently posted a five star review of his company, but without any explanation. This most likely is to boost up his overall rating numbers, which is pretty dishonest, if you ask me. He provides poor quality work, lies about it, and has withheld payments from his subcontractors on at least two separate occasions (he actually admits to this on two of his google review responses). This article describes how David and his wife Melina filed for bankruptcy in 2013 to get out of paying debts they owed to former business partners and family members. He's also been sued by an extensive number of his former clients and business partners. This guy is a piece of work. I wish I went with another option. He destroyed several pieces of my personal property during the project and refuses to fix any of it. Find literally anyone else to handle your renovation.

Sunrise Restoration increased the opening to ur attic so we could install a new hot water heater in the attic. They did a wonderful job. They installed a new metal and much sturdier ladder as well as increasing the width of the opening. They were very professional, timely and did excellent work. We completely recommend Sunrise Restoration for any kind of carpentry work.

Sunrise was punctual, had excellent communication and completed all tasks as forecasted. My particular job was small but they still took great care of us.

Sunrise is great, great people, great service, great work!

They abandoned the job. Blamed financial woes, blamed the project manager. At first sorrowful communication, then very scarce communication, thyen no communication. An absolute disappointment and embarrassment for me. Watch out for the names Montelongo (David and Pamela) and Clawson (Brad) as they will surely materialize again as another company. I am writing this review 1 year after the job should have been completed, having given them time to correct their problems and complete the project.

David with Sunrise Restoration was quite fair with pricing and stayed within budget. He was professional, prompt with response, and completed the job within the time frame given. I would absolutely hire this company again!

We are very happy with our kitchen remodel. David was very prompt with responses to questions, concerns, calls and messages. I enjoyed working with Melina for design questions. The crews were fantastic. They cleaned up at the end of the work day which was very nice. I appreciated that. We would definitely work with Sunrise Restoration & Designs on future projects. Sunrise Restoration was a great company to have work in my home. David Montelongo always responded to my concerns. He finished the job completely and even when something wasn't exactly what I wanted, he made sure to make it right. I highly recommend this company.

After a significant delay in the completion of my project, everything turned out better than I hoped for. Every craftsman that came to my home was top notch..

We contracted with Sunrise Restorations November 8, 2018. We fired them May 8,2019 due to massive delays and misappropriations of funds. As of May 8th We have assumed responsibility of our build. Our contract read that the third installment draw would be when be when tile was laid in guest bath. We still are not ready for plumbing or electric rough inspections 6 months out but in February demanded 15000.00 to order cabinets which they never did. When we asked to have the cabinets delivered they refused. They are refusing to tell us where they are. We had a partial electric inspection with multiple unsafe issues. When we call the numbers on the permit of his subs, the phones were disconnected. When we look for plumber and electric subs listed on permit, we cannot find those companies. I hope we will save someone the grief we are experiencing. We paid them over 40000.00 and only the framing is in good shape to pass inspection. We hired the HVAC ourselves and they also passed. Find another company and save yourself months of grief and thousands of dollars.

David and Brad were very professional and responsive. Their team came in to fix issues left by a previous contractor. While most of the job was completed to my satisfaction the crew sent to finish the job was terrible. Brad came out and saw the job and offered to correct the issue. I appreciated the honesty. I would hire this company again for future renovations. Thank you David and Brad!

Trystan was great. Good communicator and did the work flexing with my schedule. Work quality was very good! Would highly recommend him.

This contractor lacked any quality control made numerous mistakes that turned a six week job into three months. I had to constantly check their work. The concrete work was not quality work they completely destroyed the front yard and the sprinkler system, and they had to replace the garage door that was damaged by their concrete sub contractor. They did not have the proper tools to do the work, very disappointed in the finished drive and sidewalk. The bathroom remodel finish after some rework such as replacing the floor tile because the used the wrong grout and replacing the bath tub because was installed wrong, is done well

My wife has become wheelchair bound and it was necessary for us to modify, upgrade and renovate our mid-sixties built house and bathrooms. David and Brad and their crews could not have been more professional, cooperative accommodating and friendly. Their expertise and pride in their work was evident from the start of the project and all throughout and to the completion. The contract allowed for our individual input fordesign, materials, style and colors. Their understanding of our need for safety, timeliness and accessibility during the project was extraordinary! They were all extremely courteous and accommodating. Their quality of work was superb! Their constant awareness of safety and concern for my wife’s wellbeing was paramount throughout the entire process. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend them without hesitation! Absolutely a “Five-Star” rating!! We researched several other companies to get ideas and estimates to complete the job. Several estimates provided were either excessively expensive for our budget or too vague in their scope and definition for what they were going to provide. Little room for modification or unanticipated changes were included. Not so for Sunrise Resortation! I’d hire them again for another job without hesitating!! Great job by some great people! EXTREMELY SATISFIED!

Sunrise Restoration was very honest, upfront and professional. Their estimate for a total roof replacement with high quality ultra HD shingles beat three other companies that were trying to give my client less than quality materials. I would highly recommend David and Brad to my family, friends and other clients.

Sunrise helped us after a water leak caused some awful damage in our upstairs kids bathroom. David has a full network of professionals at his hand and crafted a super damage repair, future proofing, and aesthetic design plan for the bathroom. His crew performed an absolutely amazing job. The tile choice, waterproofing, shower door placement, and built in soap rack were very meticulously done. We even had an unrelated leaky drain after the job which he came and fixed immediately at no charge! The design was fantastic, updated, and modern. More than we could have asked for. His prices are very reasonable and the workmanship top notch. He was always faithful to follow up with me by phone every step of the way to make sure we knew where they were on the project and how we felt about things at each step. We will certainly be using him again for a kitchen remodel and other projects and we have recommended Sunrise to our friends who are all impressed with their work. I've contracted with many other folks for repairs and restoration jobs but Sunset is absolutely a breed far apart from the rest.

Sunrise was amazing to work with on our project. The addition to our 100 year old home included a second bathroom, laundry room and bonus room. The carpenters did a great job installing trim that was consistent with the trim in the original portion of the home and the tile installation work was amazing. This was a complicated project as it required electrical and water heater upgrades and relocation. Sunrise phased that work to be minimally disruptive and accommodated us and our fur babies better than I would expect any contractor to have.

EF-1 tornado ripped asphalt shingles from roof and ripped attached patio cover from house. David's crew replaced the roof in one day and on another day resolved the "punch list" items. The original patio cover that was destroyed was replaced with one 4 times original size, attached to the house and to the existing roof. The new roofing all blended in nicely. Flashings and exhaust pipes were painted to blend in with the color of the roof. Very nicely done! Despite the high demand for roof replacements and resulting backlog due to hundreds of homes damaged by 4 tornados, this roof was given high priority by David and scheduled for replacement quickly to prevent further damage.

I really enjoyed working with Sunrise roofing and restoration. David was very professional, took my suggested on all the things that I wanted, made the addition flowed very nicely with the existing house, and completed the project before the completion date (which was great).

I originally contacted Sunrise roofing to repair the roof in my house. However, upon close inspection they found that the damage to the roof and gutters was too extensive and convinced the insurance company to pay for their replacement. Sunrise roofing adjusted their quote to match what the insurance company paid for replacing the roof and gutters. David Montelongo, the owner of the company, coordinated the hiring crews to replace the roof and gutters. The work was done relatively quickly. The workers as well as David took care of all the details that were brought to their attention. I feel that the work was done well and my wife and I are very satisfied with the work done.
